  • I think it can't get better than AC/DC, I find Leslie West and Mountain; I think it can't get better than Leslie West and Mountain, I find Humble Pie and the incredible Steve Marriot; I think it can't get better than Humble Pie and the incredible Steve Marriot, I find Alex Harvey and his crazy, space mad scientist ziggy stardust blues guitarist. So awesome.

  • 2:43 ? Like he came for a Mozart concerto and is lost......

  • I could cry when I look at him. Poor lad, much too lean and exhausted.

  • Watching this vid should be a requirement for anybody's youtube login!

  • STUNNING,,, please come back ALEX theres no one iin the world like you,,, xxx

  • OOps Hes remembered Its In Norway not Sweden

  • Great vid the guy that plays guitar Zal cleminson said he actually remembers playing this gig in Sweden just posted it on his facebook wall for him.watch out for his new book 'The Half-Human Guitarist' . They were one of the best things ever to come out of Glasgow Scotland . Alex had charisma by the bucketload .

  • Sensational is an understatement.

  • FRAMEADA. FRAMED.

    RIP Alex

  • We'll never forget SAHB.

  • ..man the 1970s were great.

  • SAHB followers dressed in rugby shirts and tight jeans...they were like forerunners of Oasis style fans etc. Lots of violence and beer.

  • If you look closely you should witness a complete loss of cognitive function at 2:50 as the rush of actually approaching the bridge overwhelms the Man's neuro-receptors and he forgets words while running on instinct alone - Great stuff.

  • he's got the eyes of alain delon

  • WES BORLAND 'aint got nuthin' on that guitar player dressing up like a weirdo, space child.

  • Its fantastic stuff. At times in this performance Alex looks like Elvis, Brando, Jack Black and even an Ape from Planet Of The Apes, BUT...

Thats the inimitable Alex Harvey up there! RIP

  • I was a Frame eh duh --stocking on his head just robbed a liquor store

  • I dedicate this to Marion to the time and places and memories (around about 1977-1984)RIP. Den V.

    dreamcommander1

  • Fucking awesome - long live Alex !

  • Still the greatest.

  • Saw him do Framed at the 1977 Reading Festival, came on as Jesus Christ. One of the most underrated bands of all time, they were just fantastic.

  • Can you believe that if Alex was still alive he'd be 76 years old!

  • 16 people were frameada.

  • I just love this band and their excellentissimo front man, saw them at The Olympia in Paris around 1974...bring bak cool memories when you discover a band that good nd original...Vambo still rules .

  • Him and Sutch....maaaaannnnn, what a pair!

  • the 16 dickheads who dislike this will be hunted in the streets with torches and pitchforks.

  • I also saw him around 76 at the odeon b'ham. A true master stage performer and a real one off RIP Alex

  • Not many can match the mastery of the Gibson SG quite like Zal Cleminson did back in the day. Not a whole bunch of stomp boxes, just manipulation of the strings and raw emotion. Alex's timing is impeccable. The crowd is neither stunned nor impressed, little did they know what a masterpiece performance they were witnessing.

  • Not many can match the mastery of the Gibson SG quite like Zal Cleminson did back in the day.

  • Love him - saw him back in 76 - just amazing....! RIP Alex

    dreamcommander!

  • Love him - saw him back in 76 - just amazing....! RIP Alex

  • Before Angus Young.......there was Zal Cleminson......

  • scared hippy crowd look like deers in the headlight...

  • @crockoduckevolved Yes, they're realizing that they too could be framed.

  • Zal...fucking insane, one of the GREAT unsung guitar heroes of the 70s.

  • Alex Harvey rocks!

  • Thanks for a great memory!! Saw them first time on In Concert show here in US long time ago. Would love to get that footage. Great post.

  • Classic rock!!! Fantastic!!! Much better than skijumping at Holmenkollen!

  • being American, I never even HEARD of this group until I read The Cure biography 10 Imaginary Years......sounds like he influenced Bon Scott!

  • @179rich I am sure that Bon Scott was an Alex's fan!!! PURE ROCK AND ROLL

  • @SchizoidCaveman Yeah Angus too !

  • they were fucking sensational

  • Alex was perhaps the most extremely bizarre performer, but he was undoudtedly a great stage performer. He loved playing the crowd.

  • RIP, ALEX, WE MISS YOU.

  • must be the most powerfull performance ever

  • What would cowell and co make of this man .haha As if he'd care TOTAL LEGEND.

  • @moosehead68 Cowell would scuttle ,crablike ,off the stage before Alex stepped on him...

  • All time best _ fab Blues!!! NEVER to be repeated RIP x

  • Thanx to wunart for sharing this timeless music.

He was really a brilliant Entertainer, and here at 8:28 the Audience made it EPIC with their feedback!

    LIVE LONG and PROSPER xxx

  • Saw The SAHB in Buxton on the same bill as Chuck Berry ( I think) in 1974...Brilliant..

  • My dad was there! Touched by the seventies movement from the U.S.A. I feel proud:)

  • How can anyone dislike this?

This should be required viewing for all aspiring frontmen and poseur lead guitarists. Watch, listen and learn!

  • @kendalbantam well said that man!!!

  • The boogie man at 7:12

  • Bring back this type of music and entertainment!!!!

  • I do believe that Zal's make up is marionette and not clown....Subtle but succinct difference.

  • @lwplwp True- there are subtle, but "distinct " differences.

  • D'ye think he got a girl or two??

  • Sensational!

  • Excellent-watched him at Birmingham Odeon(UK)in 1978 after seeing him perform "Gambling Bar Room Blues"on T.V-The whole show was fantastic,Alex&the band.

I think I should search out some more videos etc 

  • Love it .Zal ,in clown face - pantomimed 'he's crazy ' after Alex starts slicking his hair back with a beer.

  • Eine der besten Bands die es je gab. Gottseidank haben sie sich nie kommerzialisieren lassen. So Long

  • Saw SAHB in 1976 at a Celtic park gig (with a bunch of other acts - The Who, Little Feat, Chapman Whitney Streetwalkers, The Outlaws) and they blew EVERYBODY off the stage - supposedly there was a film crew there, but don't know of any film has surfaced of the event. Anyone any clue?

  • @SmileyGarrish He was asking, 1 solo or 2 solos?

  • Zal's guitar playing sounds way before its time.

  • Alex seems to have been an excellent showman. Never seen them live but wish i had. He always looked like he was a tad off.

  • Forgot how good this band was never saw them live. Wished I had.... Magic tune....

  • I love when the bass player looks over at the guitarist and asks him ''one? or two?'' ( I presume he's asking if there is one or two rounds of the twelve bar to be played.) Just shows how ad hoc the whole thing was. He'd obviously never played the song before and he wanted to know what the 'craic' was. Proper musicians. Doing it on the hoof.

  • Artistry of the highest order.

  • cut the fuckin crap ... u were def GUILTY

  • I just realised: I went to W.Germanty to see Scotland in the World Cup at that time.

  • How did I miss this concert? I was working in Oslo that summer, but this is the 1st I've heard of it. D'OH!!!!!

  • Fuckin brilliant wee man

  • magic, eh?

  • I saw this band live when I was 15. The band 'Slade' was the main number, but the Alex Harvey Band was the backing band......beat the krap out of Slade.

I remember this number....they did a scanning of the audience with a simple lantern beam,.... no elaberate light show.

It was awsume. The guitarist was fantastic.

Nether thought i would find this band on U tube. I thought they were history.

  • looks like the crowd don't know how to take this level of music. bigod I wish I'd been there. They don't make bands like this anymore.

  • Awesom stuff from Sir Alex & the boys, nothing short of kick arse and know other band has ever come any where near. Pouting ! , funny ! piss taking of the highest order......... FRAME MA DA ------God bless you Alex xx -------oh yes and I nearly forgot --the boy Cleminson --just listen to the guitar solo --wonderful .. then he has the bloody cheek to go round again ----beautiful XX

  • Awesom stuff from Sir Alex & the boys, nothing short of kick arse and know other band has ever come any where near. Pouting ! , funny ! piss taking of the highest order......... FRAME MA DA ------God bless you Alex xx

  • Visiting and recommenting again - has this vid been cut short?

  • @cclady222

It's nine and a half minutes long.....what do you want War and Peace?

  • This and 'Midnight Moses' from the same concert are two of my favourite music things on facebook - scary, ridiculous, ass kicking stuff - everything rock n roll should be

  • I really don't listen to blues, but with Alex Harvey..... it's something different !

  • Absolutely typical off this remarkable man - amazing, off the cuff brilliance! Hail Vambo! He played my Gibson SG at his birthday party one evening in Glasgow in the distant past.

  • He's f*cking high :d so the band skip to solo early

  • Alex Harvey was a character!! And so were his band.

  • Zal Cleminson on guitar..Badass...Nazareth,etc.....& Chris "what's his name" on bass(Played with Schenker a lot)...something about Zal's psycho type clown get up and those faces he makes on top of the wild notes...he's scary man..

    Scary Cool.Laters

  • I was just a bit too young to realize how cool these guys were back in the day...something led me to this vid.tonight and now I got all these distant flashbacks...I totally remember the Clown guitarist guy..drawing a blank on the name..and I know Bon Scott/AC-DC got some influence from these guys..you can just hear it.Hey,hella cool video..I gotta chk out some more.laters.

  • One of the worlds most under rated bands. Did Kiss rip the facial make-up idea off them or what. Long be Alex remembered.

  • Fantastic. RIP Alex Harvey. there'll never be another.End of. And Zal Clementson infiuenced me" as the guitarist in Experimental Gardens to be outragious like his character too. Thanx lads for showing what to aim for?

  • Jesus, I haven't thought about Alex Harvey in nearly 40 years, but I am reading a bio of Joe Strummer that mentions the influence that SAHB had on the early punk scene in England, and it brought memories back of seeing the SAHB a few times at the Whiskey in LA several times in '74 or so, strangely, I wouldn't have immediately connected Alex Harvey to punk, but I did go on to become a punk rock enthusiast in '76, so maybe there is an obscure connection there, LOL.

  • he broke the mold!

  • Completely uncontrived cool.

  • ronald mac donalds tights!

    great band

  • I remember quite vividly the first time I saw SAHB, I was 11 and had tickets to see Slade at Earls Court in London SAHB were the support band , Me and my mates had never heard of him, but we were stunned from the first moment and the first riff of Framed from Zals guitar.

It was thought at the time that Slade were one of the best live acts , truly fantastic to realise they had been relegated to second place by Sahb who were truly the best in the world

  • @essexboi7 I saw them in bristol during that tour, they blew my mind, blew my eardrums and blew slade away, one of the alltime greats

  • This is the single most entertaining video I have seen of SAHB. The crowd is completely baffled ... Alex and Zal are enjoying making their confustion complete!

To borrow a line .... SAHB rool!!!

  • @stasch7856 - haha - ahead of their time or Whhhaaat?

  • best live posting i've seen of SAHB yet

  • Is it even worth looking around for someone today who could entertain and love their audience like The SAHB?

  • I read a biography about this bit..........he'd just swum naked I think then dressed as the band were playing. did you notice zal doing the ''loopy'' twirl of the fingers by his head?

  • R.I.P Alex Gone But Never Forgotten. Our True Scottish Hero.XX

  • Saw them on Don Kirschners rock concert and then live in New Orleans opening for Jethro Tull. They were incredible, with bagpipes coming from the back of the auditorium thru the crowd up to the stage.

  • Thanks for posting this 1st class footage of this original, never to be copied band. They stand the test of time. I saw them 9 times thro the early 70s,the NEXT tour was the penultimate gig to me. They could still be seen live up 2008 when I saw them at Crewe limelight club. R.I.P ALEX .

  • I had the album with the song Framed on it way back in 1974-75 wen I was 15 yrs old. Today this song is better known in one of Cheech and Chongs movies, some even think its composed by Cheech. I was an Alex Harvey fan back then and still am an Alex Harvey fan today....R.I.P. Alex

  • This just kicks ass!
