Sir, aren't you are sitting too far forward in canoe where you can't watch the dogs. Solo canoeists usually paddle from behind the middle bar on their knees. boB
it are not the dogs you can't canoe learning a proper J-stroke and the other strokes would give you more confidence .contact a good teacher;always a lifejacket.funny video:best title''how not to canoe with dogs''
I'm guessing this may have been the dogs' first canoe ride? I just took my beagle out on my open top kayak for the first time with similar results :) She was good with sitting in it with me on land, and good once we were floating a bit, but the second I got to paddling she got way too excited and dumped us. The ducks didn't help the situation, haha.
A couple songs - not sure which you mean. Starts out with The Castle Jazz Band, Leon Redbone does "Up a Lazy River" and I don't think you mean "Splish, splash, I was takin' a bath" by Bobby Darin.
@BullWinkus 'SeusofSean' disagrees with you. He thinks it's the 'lamest video ever'. (I'm guessing by use of the word 'lame' that he doesn't have his driver's license yet.) :)
@jimobileworksatgmail No, he needs disciplined dogs. I had 2 female german shepherds, litter sisters that weighed 100 pounds each. They knew their places in the canoe & didn't move from that spot until told otherwise. They weren't allowed to do but two things in the canoe: sit up & lay down. They knew doing anything else might dump the canoe and with gators in every waterway in Florida (they were also trained as gator alarms) they also knew staying in the canoe was the safest thing for them.

@jmkyle Yup! Probably so. I like your sense of style, though, if that counts for anything. Music selections were spot on!
