Don't be diss'n tape. I'll bet it out performed the system from which it originated. Thanks for posting this. I love such creative innovations. I really wish modern technology could do with greater quality what old technology would let you do creatively.

i remeber getting a blue demo lp from them in 1980 when it first hit the market. ...til this day i always think of this remarkable instrument and the music that was created on it.. LMAO i would never forget the day i called a bank and ask for a 40k loan just to buy it. As of now im telling the newer generation of keybord players about the fairlight and what it did for the music worl in the eighties.

There is a Fairlight refill for Reason now. I am making it. You can see my profile for a short descriptive video. The refill is available from powerfx.
Ok whatever shmuck I have the refill just because you don't know it exists doesn't mean that its not out there I have it you don't so it doesn't matter what you say to me I own it you don't!
Great stuff...The Fairlight system was for the more financially able keyboardists...I always dreamed of having one...ahhhh the beauty of these machines
The Synclavier was even more expensive and appealed more to Americans... mega rich american artistes tended to own them (apart from Eurythmics' Dave Stewart)... most Europeans preferred the Fairlight and Emulator... which was also a cooler machine...
I adore the Fairlight CMI II...
I have the WHOLE official un-processed sound-library if anyone is interested... but only in 16-bit rather than the Fairlight MK2's 8-bit...
That melody bares resemblance to Propaganda's "Dream Within A Dream" from the album "A Secret Wish".
I would love to get my hands on a Series III.
I previously owned a Series IIx.
Cheers from Sweden.

First of all let me say that the Fairlight was fantastic ....
For it's time, when sampling and computer based sequensers where
absent. The truth is that what really made the Fairlight so incredible was it's sound library. And the producers that worked with the Fairlight.
If you plugg a pair of cords without effects into a Fairlight, and plays
throug some disks.... you end up quite confused, "was that all there was?"
Add effects and a good producer and a good song, then : aaahhh Fairlight !

I think the studios should have still hung on to their Fairlight synths, this really wasn't a domestic machine.
