Actually, Turbines are 10x as efficent as piston powered boats. Not only is there fuel (Jet A or Kerosene i believe) half the cost as race fuel, they don't have to be rebuilt after every race and are more reliable. This MTI hit a top end of 188.25, its on their website

this boat can't do 210, it can only reach about 190 on glass, the new mystic hulls can do 210 such as the new miss geico boat, the JBS racing and aqua mania.

its amazing how much money they dump into those boats. I can only imagine how much those 3000hp turbines cost them, not only that but I wonder how much it costs to run it

I do know that a single turbine costs about $100,000 from turbine marine but running them must be insane as they must be so inefficient.

they boat I'm designing was going to use them but now were using diesel engines purely because of how much fuel these turbines eat.

Step hulls need chop not glass water to run fast. Smooth water slows them down.
