  • That Taylor looks just like mine. Mine's a 510 LTD, manufactured in 2002. What about yours?

  • @paulAVGuitarist This is called a Custom DN, and it was made in 2007, I think? It's a great guitar, though I'm mostly playing my McPherson now which is incredible!

  • Hey Ben, thanks for the channel. I have been playing and singing for about 13 years or so, and have just recently become interested in flat pickin. Your videos are a HUGE help to a truck drivin' guitar picker.

  • Great!!!!

  • Well I just about have Banjo Ben's slow version down pat. I am 18 years old and have been playing since I was 11 or 12 and I am still playing my first guitar. I think a Taylor will be my next. Great sounding guitar. Love this music.

  • the bandjo part sucks

  • What thickness strings do you use on your Taylor?

I have a Taylor and love it. So far I have only used the Elixir pohsphor Bronze Light .012-.053

I am considering going with a Medium gauge to see how the tone changes.

  • I appreciate your playing the song in different styles. They each have such a unique sound. I've been wanting to learn the cross-picking arrangement. I want to learn to produce that banjo-like twang on my nylon-string.

  • Are you kidding me? I know this tune "traditional style" and I didn't even know what it was called. I had just heard someone playing it so I played it by ear. Then I heard the "banjo ben" version and holy crap, you made it sick.. All I have to say is wow

  • Thank you again Ben for all of your efforts.... Have a blessed Christmas and a healthy New Year.

  • Your videos are wonderful and your a great guitarist, but I gotta call you on this. Mother Maybelle played this capoed up in either F or G, with the C chord form. C is not the original Key. Keep on keeping on! You're doin' great!

  • however beatapt5.. this dude could make a cardboard guitar sound great.. gotta admit that.. :P

  • ben i would like to thank you for your free leasons i havn't had time to work on them yet but soon. I do have question I have some original tunes that i think are pretty good how do i get them seen in nashville i'm certainly not singer or player enough to do them but would love to hear my stuff done by a pro. again thank you, also found carter family last night great stuff you and your sister are very talented. again thank you for taking the time to post you vids they are great.

  • this is the best instructional video that's ever been on you-tube. i've been a subscriber for a while, and this new HD look and close up camera work is awesome. we love you from north carolina BEN!!!

  • I had the privilege, many years ago of Seeing & Hearing Mother Maybelle herself pick -the Wildwood at a Johnny Cash show in the Old Glace Bay Forum located in G.B. Nova Scotia.

Yes, I knew the significance of this performance , even at the age of 17-18. [ just turned 60 ]

    What a THRILL !!!!

    D.Holland

  • great lesson tks!! 5*****

  • Excellent 5 Stars

  • Ben; I like this vid so, so much. You are so right about the original version being so perfect and pure in it's melody and harmony.. And your comments about pick accuracy are so right on for me. I've been playing for many years, but I'm just realizing how I've concentarated so much on the left hand, that I really can't pick with the right hand anywhere close to where I want to.

Do you have any other beginning exercises you recommend for improving right hand picking accuracy? 'Thanks

  • Love it! Love the song choice, love the HD, love the commentary. Thanks!

  • Another great one Ben, looking forward to all the tabs!

  • Once again ... OUTSTANDING !!! I was was of the many that requested this song, thanks for getting to it. Have a safe and Merry CHRISTmas!!! God Bless
