i know i dont say this much but i really love this vid. i dont comment much but really no one do justice to alicia except you when it comes to making alicia vocal vids! :D
@aetherJade sorry for not replying, I know it was on megaupload but since they shut it down I don't know where to find this in better quality than the one on 4shared
i also really recommend looking up her performance of signed, sealed delivered at the inaugural ball. she sang in a group of about a dozen other singers, and her (brief) part blew everyone out of the water. check it out!
Her low notes are amazing, but sadly the high notes (when belted and combined with) are strained and forced.SHe's my favorite R&B singer and I want her voice to be around for a long time.
@Akee1990 Yes I agree with that too because I want her beautiful voice to be around for a long time. I wish she can belt effortlessly like she used to. When she was younger, her voice was lighter, so she was able to belt higher notes better back then, ever since her voice got darker, it's harder to belt above Eb5 without strain.
When it comes to her vocals, her lower register is flawless. Her belting can be labored at times, but if she wants, she can carry up the sound quite well. That G#5 was rather powerful indeed. Her head voice is ok, but not at the level of her lows (it's not connected). Her tone itself is beautiful, so thick, although she has some pitch problems. Overall, she's quite a good singer.
Her voice is very beautiful, soulful, powerful, and emotive! She really is a great singer and pianist/artist! I truly loved her from the first time! She is the Princess of Soul!!!
@LoveGreatVocal I don't know what happened to the clarity of her voice that she had. Her voice is still beautiful, but very hoarse. I still love her no matter what and she is still one my favorite singers. She sounded great at the BET awards.
@ThePianoguy89 I think she probably was pushing her voice to much during that concert and this song was the last she played i think so her voice was tired.
@LoveGreatVocal Pushing is NEVER a good idea when it comes to singing. One of my voice teachers, said that you should allow your voice instead of pushing it.In order for her clarity to come back, she'll probly have to find another way to produce those notes (no yelling), even if it means having someone else play piano for her while she stands and sing.Because perfect high notes have clarity and freedom.
@Akee1990 I totally agree. I think her worst habit is to push larynx up sometimes. She can sing with neutral larynx but sometimes (especially lately) she's pushing it up.
Child. I bet she can go into the F2/G2 notes. Her lower belted notes are a bit strained/shaky, but, once she gets above an E5 there really good. She needs to work on lower belted notes, though.
Wow, nice quality.

Her comfort chest range nowadays seems to be C3-Eb5. Still amazing anyways!

@LoveGreatVocal Have you heard her new song "Place of My Own?!" It's a great song! Many people criticized her for sounding too hoarse and raspy.
ThePianoguy89 5 months ago
@ThePianoguy89 Of course i've heard it! I think it's great. Something new, fresh but still very Alicia. But her voice sounds bad on that performance.

@VaunTV Her lower belts doesn't sound strained to me. Lower belts are more of her comfort belting range. She uses vibrato more from F#4 to D5.
