I kinda sorta agree and disagree at the same time. I love this band and this song and most bands that come out of Omaha/Saddle/Love. They were clearly trying to do something "different" with the backups. And it is in fact "different" for the backup vocalist to be singing/speaking a couple octaves lower than the lead. I didn't love it but I wouldn't change it. This band is great because of their willingness to do things that may sound strange at first listen.
