  • I just wish that the entire 30-minute speech was on Bernie's site, where he explains the program. I keep trying to find it so I can pass it around to people who do not understand that Medicare for All is not like the present Medicare system -- it is much better. It needs to be explained to people. We need the entire video.

  • This is excellent - one of the few voices of reason left in the US Government.

  • Senator, maybe you should have directly linked this video on your facebook post, instead of the roundabout way. People don't seem to read so much, these days.

  • Only the misinformed thinks that the Barack Obama Healthcare Plan is "socialized medicine." Not even the "single payer approach" is socialistic, but what Bernie Sanders is proposing is the BEST alternative to solve this health care crisis. To hell with not only red neck right-wing Republicans opposed to any public medical care; those blue dog corporate whores in the Democratic Party that has obstructed Single Payer, pissed away the Public Option, and neutered Medicare buy ins can go to hell.

  • ♥ you bernie~♥♥.

ps- he's live on the "thom hartmann show♥" nationwide every friday morning from 9am-10am PT.

  • one of the few legislators that isn't working for big insurance and big pharma.

  • Golly, I'm starting to believe that our politicians don't have our best interests at heart!

  • love bernie

  • Inspiring

  • true progress requires dedication. keep up the good work senator!

  • One of the few senators who is actually doing their job.

  • No public option?

    No Medicare?

    No mandate!!!!!

Vote NO on this sham of a bill that forces 30 million people into the private insurance cartel.

  • Right, because I'm sure you've read all 797 pages of the bill. No, you probably read all of Glenn Beck's "Idiocracy for the Common Wal-Mart/NASCAR Patron". You obviously know all the rules of cloture then, don't you? You would know it would take only 16 signatures to file for that? Then have a vote two days after, you know this don''t you? Beck's book explained that, right? You're not saving America, you're wasting precious oxygen for all of us. Mr. Sanders did everything within the rules.

  • Comment removed

  • Excuse me, I meant 797 pages of the Sanders Amendment, not bill.

  • No the parlimentry rule is you have to have unanimous consent. I herd that from Demint and Hokstra. OH YEAH THEY'RE SENATORS. HMM THEY PROBABLY NO THE RULES RIGHT. I didn't mean to get your Bernie Sanders panties in a wad.

  • What does it matter that he pulled the amendment anyway? I'm sure you would've loved to have sat there and listened to all 797 pages of that amendment. And that's real smart; you tell the fans of Sanders not to listen to him, but when YOU heard it from Demint and Hokstra, it must be right. Give me a break, hypocrite. Tell us, what are your solutions for health reform? You can obviously point out how the "communists" would handle it, now offer us your ideas.

  • Sander/ Feingold 2012

  • For what dog catcher

  • Mr. Sanders I hope you think about running for President in 2012 . Almost every democrat I know would most definitely vote for you . Grayson , Brown , Kusinich , Dean , and yourself , among a few others ,have done the majority of Americans a huge service in fighting for us and what we want . Thank you sir for being one of the few voices of reason on this matter .

  • thank you Bernie.

  • Mitch McConnell is wrong. The Republicans are wrong. Let's no longer call it "Healthcare" and call it more accurately "NoOneCares" which sums up the republican attitude along with President Obama's, apparently too.

  • Close. He's a democratic socialist.

  • But I'm not that way which is why I'm with Sanders in wanting change. Have YOU read the bill? (the truth please) I no longer want my life to be in the hands of a corporation that I have to work for or hope they don't chalk me off to the bottom line just to get the right to pay my taxes plus my premiums plus a copay and still end up getting a huge bill that will wreck my life if I don't pay. I don't want 40000 people to die because they can't afford that. This makes me "stupid" in your eyes?

  • There are not 40000 people without insurance. Hell the illegals can go to the emergency room any day. So can you and the 40000 people. I apologize, I'll call you un informed. 2 things. If this bill is so great why is congress exempt. If BHO is so worried about healthcare for everyone. Why do we start paying taxes on it now. Yet the benefits don't kick in for 4 years. So the 40000 people still will be without insurance. IT'S ALL ABOUT POLITICS

  • Congress is exempt from the health care we have now, yet you have people like Sanders fighting for a single payer system. You can't say that these insurance companies aren't making their payed senators better off. Of course you need to put money into benefits now. Would you start medicare without putting any money into it before you were 65?

  • Look with BHO everything is must do it now, or the world will end. When is everyone going to see through this fraud! This healthcare scam is just a massive grab for power. Only thing in these bills is more LAWS AND RESTRICTIONS FOR US! If this damn health care bill is so important, why does it wait to go into effect till 20014. What about all them people that don't have health insurance, how's that going to do them any good now. ALL POLITICS. BHO SHOULD BE IMPEACHED! CONGRESS ARE TRAITORS

  • Look. You're a grown person. You really need to get a grip. What laws are you referring to? I understand you might not agree that everyone needs to have health insurance, but I'm sure you have car insurance, and I don't hear you complaining on that. Plus, no one is sitting on death row for not having insurance. Some of the bill will go in effect now, mainly for children (Oh Lordy! They're poisoning our youth!), but money from taxes has to go into a program before it can fully take effect.

  • You're right, there aren't forty thousand uninsured people in the US. There are actually forty million.

Also, yeah, they can go to the emergency room. But only after a condition that could have easily been fixed by a normal doctor's visit, which they couldn't afford to have, or some sort of medicine that they couldn't afford to buy. Then they can go to the emergency room once it becomes life-threatening, which is the only time hospitals aren't legally allowed to turn people away.

  • Then they pay to sit in the emergency room, and wait several hours to see a doctor eventually. Then the hospital has to eat the cost of the patient because there's literally no way to collect from people that can't afford a regular practitioner, so they have to raise prices for everyone else. This is why the paper bowl I threw up in cost $28 instead of the two cents it cost the hospital to buy it.

The two sides are basically UHC and "the poor don't deserve health care." Sorry, dude.
