@PinkMakeupDiva You should definitely try this look. If you don't like textured tights you can always pair your shorts with a some thick opaque tights when it gets a little colder.

I like this look. I have thick thighs, would you recommend getting wool shorts that fit a little looser? I like the look of shorts with tights but don't want to add more bulk to my thighs.

@xosbst A slightly looser short will work for you but you don't want to go too loose because really loose fitting garments actually add more bulk/volume to your body. Also go with shorts that don't have any pockets on them because pockets will add extra bulk/volume to your hips, thighs, and butt.
