Transmen don't "do" testosterone for the same reason body builders do.
Most of us don't produce enough testosterone on our own, since we were born with a birth defect that caused our bodies to develop the opposite gender of our brains.. so, for us, it's purely medical necessity, and not recreational at all. We take testosterone just to look and feel like ourselves.. not to get huge muscles or enhance "performance" in sports or weightlifting.
Testosterone gives us deep voices, body hair, redistributes body fat to give our bodies a more masculine appearance, widens the bones in the face to give a more masculine appearance, and many other things, other than muscle development. If you were stuck in the wrong body, you'd want to do something about it too. I know it's hard to understand if you're not trans yourself.. but this really is a birth defect.. and taking hormones and getting surgery are the only effective treatments.

self-injecting is really not all that easy to do, and most doctors don't recommend it until the patient has been on testosterone for a while already, and has been properly taught by a doctor or a nurse.
He's not that young. We all look super young when we first start out. Age has nothing to do with whether we can self inject or not.
You might want to try glute injections, or read a primer on how to do injections. Just stabbing it anywhere and not doing it properly isn't smart, you might hit some nerve cluster.
And don't mean to burst your bubble, if your injecting testosterone you are injecting a steroid. Just for the fact that testosterone is a steroidal hormone.
I meant about that last part. Why did you mention that? Everyone knows testosterone is a steroidal hormone, but it's not being used as a steroid here (both because it's not being used that way and it's administered in a way that wouldn't produce average steroid results). Steroid, as the term, means T used specifically for muscle. It's not called "steroids" for medical purposes.
Just so everyone knows, I wrote this post with transgender terms in my head, I didn't mean to sound like I was trying to talk about medical terms. This post is in no way talking from a medical viewpoint.

yes, for the rest of my life. there are also other ways of delivering T to your system though, such as gels, creams, pills, and patches.

self-injecting is really not all that easy to do, and most doctors don't recommend it until the patient has been on testosterone for a while already, and has been properly taught by a doctor or a nurse.
He's not that young. We all look super young when we first start out. Age has nothing to do with whether we can self inject or not.

You might want to try glute injections, or read a primer on how to do injections. Just stabbing it anywhere and not doing it properly isn't smart, you might hit some nerve cluster.
And don't mean to burst your bubble, if your injecting testosterone you are injecting a steroid. Just for the fact that testosterone is a steroidal hormone.

I meant about that last part. Why did you mention that? Everyone knows testosterone is a steroidal hormone, but it's not being used as a steroid here (both because it's not being used that way and it's administered in a way that wouldn't produce average steroid results). Steroid, as the term, means T used specifically for muscle. It's not called "steroids" for medical purposes.
