  • I didn't bother to read all the comments to see if someone already said what I'm going to say... but actually apps for Windows 8 MUST be compiled for ARM processors to run on tablets, so no, you won't be able to use all of your desktop apps. At least until companies start selling (i bet for an extra charge) ARM versions of their software. And even then, I don't really think tabs will replace computers, IMO tabs have to be foolproof, and a PC-like tab just isn't.

  • surely Android is laggier because iOS and WinMo are optimized for few devices, whereas Android is made to run on anything and everything? Not that I'm one to disagree with a Google engineer, just my opinion! Also...where the hell is cyanogen mod 8?!

  • @RealTalkOnlyBro CM8 is reserved for honeycomb. But since Honeycomb's source code wasn't released. It skips to CM9... O_o

  • @RealTalkOnlyBro actually what this guys saying is true, i have an android phone & an ipod touch and when load a web page on iOS and place my finger on my screen, it stops loading, android keeps loading the page no matter what.

  • Woohoo! keep on truckin!

  • you put little gems on your cheeks! ... soooooooooo gay !

  • I want to be able to boot between webos/android/wp8/ios on my tablet

    I want synergy cross platform

    I want dalvik-in-a-card on webos/wp8/ios

    I want enyo on wp8/android/ios

I want Matias Duarte. to take back all the good bits of webos into android

I want to buy a cheap ass asian slabphone running webos, with an icon to install the cyanogenmod dual boot on it, but still bypassing the licensing fee shakedowns thanks to webos' patent position

  • I'd like to say something about this video but my reaction has to many characters, so I've put it on the XDA website. Curious about your response.

  • was netscape the best example for lumbering giant about to die? it seems like you think webos is a dead man walking (and you're right about the graveyard not being far away) but look at firefox .. from the ashes of netscape/gecko comes one of the best browsers on the market. could webos be reborn into something beautiful with this event horizon of tablets? i hope so!

  • i always watch your rants. and every bit of it is blatantly true. i couldnt agree with you more. keep it up. :)

  • Completely agree about the Windows 8/Android tablets comment. Been saying that for ages. Well put!

  • Open WebOS. Good move. Interesting to see how their Windows tablets sell. "Ice Cream Sandwich"? How gay can you get? Next release is "Creamy Cum" or "Faggot Fudge Packer". Google is one slip up away from pissing off their developers.

  • Only if those desktop applications are compiled for ARM. So, nothing older than Windows 8. I'm not sure Windows 8 tablets will be "laptop killers."

But they'll put a dent in iPad sales. :D

  • So in a couple years Win8 phones can knock out Android by that logic? or am I missing something. I agree about WebOS though.

  • What applications are you so attached to in Windows? I use my laptop primarily for web browsing, word processing, and media playback... all of which can be done on Android (for the most part).

  • @sysop3 Nothing that doesn't require a huge amount of GPU power. IMO, Windows is only relevant for gaming these days. *nix OSes can do everything Windows can and more.

  • @sysop3 Design, animation, nonlinear video editing, proper word processing, and so on. And that's just MY job. Everyone relies on Windows in some way because they don't have software elsewhere. So the question is, which will be created first? The programs or the tablets that can run them? You know where I'm placing bets. I don't like it any more than anyone else.

  • Buncha noobs at XDAs and sick of it. No one gives a fxck about them either. That's just how XDA is

  • Duh@noob

  • I wonder how he really feels about webOS.

  • You guys have a fucking YouTube channel?!

  • Two in a row keep the weekly updates its the high light of the week cos sam is depressing

  • Ajm ejzjrynoch, dys ys eks di jej ti wi, end ju dont noł yt bat duszbagz ar di perfekt remedi for pipul hu ar ful of śiet!

  • Windows wants xda developers to code their Skype App for Windows Phone. Fuck off windows, make your own app, you own skype...

  • goddamn i love his rants. truly epic. glad he's on androids side lol

  • if windows 8 has more apps than android, maybe. but even so, it will be hard for microsoft to overtake android at this rate.

  • When XXXDA? D: U've promised it on "You're a noob" video.

  • Will Windows 8 really be able to run at least "most"/"a lot" of my desktop/current Windows apps? Naaah... Don't think so, azrienoch. Windows Phone 7 apps - sure, but Windows 7/Windows 8 desktop apps, nope.

  • @panjez Windows 8 on ARM tablets surelly won't. But on x86 processorors, they might, at the cost of battery life most likely.

  • There's no proof they're blocking Google Wallet. The whole reason it's delayed is because of Google Wallet but there is still no proof.

  • Windows 8 ARM Tablet version will not run Windows desktop apps.

  • @hollandc27 but the x86 version will !

  • thumbs up just because.

  • Google should help to push linux os for pcs. I dual boot ubuntu on my laptop and rarely use windows anymore.

  • Makes me sad about webos... kinda. I am trying to think of some desktops program I would prefer to use on a tablet so that I can be as sure about Windows 8 being ... useful.

  • azrienoch you have a good point on WMP devices.

  • its sad but i agree with web OS's fate, but on the other hand windows 8 seems to be a flop from the get go at least on the desktop side as microsoft is knows up to this point for its legacy support, but who know, maybe they will just throw money at it till its accepted.........

  • @RancidScorpion As always.

  • easy with those hands, dude..

  • Lol @ analogy and you are right about tablets

  • But you are sassibob's favorite Douche-bag.

  • you like windows 8? i think it sucks, and no desktop apps wont work on tablets, only metro apps.

  • "I predict that when Windows 8 is officially released, it will mean the almost instantaneous death of Android tablets."

I fear you may be right, but I really hope you are wrong.

Perhaps the future for Android, or at least the android community, if not android as a Google backed OS, if for android like features to be added into a full Linux OS for tablets.

  • I agree with @azrienoch on the tablet front. Win8 will be the defining tablet OS. with phones i'm not so sure. windows have a habit of missing the important element of a phone. the ability to make calls. i might be wrong but i doubt it

  • I would never bet on Windows pulling off there OS to run great on tablets and phones. The have a history at failing at this.

  • @jtwebman They have already done it with WP 7.5...

  • @justme7500 WP 7.5 is missing a few things that Android and iOS have already so I disagree on them doing it with that.

  • @jtwebman and not to mention the the trojans and viruses

  • give me your beard

  • Just like Netscape, you say? *cough*Firefox*cough*

It would be nice if a move to webOS didn't necessarily mean abandoning Android as a platform. However, that's how it seems to be with most desktop OSes as well- only DELL and HP seem keen on selling Linux along with their Windows options, and even then only online. System76 is probably the only obvious example of building around an alternative to the 'main guys' working.

However, it would be nice to have any OS you want on any phone.

  • @scionicspectre too bad theres no standards for cellphones like on desktops :/ the fact that theres so many manufacturers of ARM based CPUs/SoCs makes it difficult....if an OS works with one (say an Exynos CPU) it might not work with another (lets say a TI OMAP ) even though the Exynos and OMAP both use the same CPU type and GPU type

  • Well, there's Linaro and the ARM community has really tightened up quite a bit compared to a few years ago, so it may not be so farfetched as we proceed down the line. I think something like Gallium could go a long way in providing a common hardware & driver basis for many different OSes (including Windows Phone) to share.

Still, you're right- at the moment this isn't easy at all. It won't be common for at least another generation. But we're moving towards this kind of solidarity.

  • @scionicspectre agree 100%

  • Why can't a developer create a process time? Normal what the Android uses and another option 'Realtime' like iOS and WP7?

  • I used to like Verizon but I took an arrow in the knee. -_-

  • The last minute you talked about phones and tablets and your prediction of getting away from desktops...guess what, Steve Jobs already said that years ago.

  • @MagicRiggs eh i dont think itll happen..... at least not as much as they think it is.....desktops will always be ahead of mobile devices in terms of power and amount of intensive software they can run... sure for web browsing and watching cat videos they can be replaced maybe even for basic schoolwork.....but id never completely abandon my desktop

  • Weird, so I start with owning a WinMo2003SE device, go to WinMo5, then WinMo6.1. Currently looking to go to Android and then might end up with a Windows 8 Phone. I can actually see it happening. I think the likelyhood of an Android operating system being a f@#$ton better than any Chrome crap though. Imagine how bad a Chrome phone would be!

  • when you said "avoiding every poultry/poetry" I first thought you said everypony

  • vote with dollars?

  • @therealdjflip Basically a middle finger to Verizon for putting their version of Google Wallet on the Galaxy Nexus, because they wouldn't get the money for the phone if it was bought unlocked.

  • The first job listing is for someone to develop a skype app for WP7? really? -_-

  • i love webOS & hate window 8 but the guy has got a point. microsoft could have been pulling the wool over our eyes the whole time. but where does BB10 & RIM come into all this?

  • @MrKennedy500 BBs can all go die in a fire

  • @Luger718A1 why you not like them ??

  • @MrKennedy500 theyre slow and the apps suck id just prefer an android.....all BBs had going was BBM

  • @Luger718A1 well, what you think about the new QnX based OS (as seen on the play book)

  • Legen... this is the most awesome guy not wearing a suit... dary! ;)

  • You sir are Reeking of awesomeness !

  • No comment, got an arrow in my knee?

  • *Hit thumbs up even before the video loads*

    True azrienoch fan :-D

  • @rudolf895 lol

  • @rudolf895 Are you sucking up because you need that job at XDA or you just don't own a spine ?!?!? ;)

  • O..k.

I just read about your damn T.S Eliot and found out he was an anti-semi.

    this is NOT cool.

  • @ufanisoneetze

Odd phrasing. Was? Or still is?

After many, many, many seconds of searching I'm sure you got the story perfectly, but I'm just here to raise the suspicion and perhaps light a fire under your ass to be more accurate.

  • @Dissruptance

go on and point your shitty Grammer-Nazi attitude to someone who's native language is English.

you may just lit a fire under my ass, but you're the one who got burned!

  • @ufanisoneetze

It doesn't matter what language you speak, if you're accusing somebody of being an "anti-semi" you should be as fucking clear and accurate as possible. Also, by "anti-semi" you mean Anti-Semite, right?

Clarity is required for such delicate slanders.

  • @ufanisoneetze so was hitler......and people still read his book

  • @Luger718A1

really? you really think it's legit to read a book written by a man who murdered in cold blood millions of people?

  • @ufanisoneetze why not? you gotta learn how they think to stop 'em and what not

  • who the fuck is T.S. Eliot?

anyway good vid, always fun to watch you man.

  • i don't own any of these phones, and i'm not interested in the tech world at all. i just like watching azrienoch and sassibob lol. they're entertaining

  • @TZRBlog Apple fanboys piss me off ;)

  • @MaxHallbergz Fanboys piss me off.

  • @MaxHallbergz Android fangirls make me laugh. All mouth and no buy where tablets are concerned.

  • 3rd comment!! I LIKE XDA

  • im azrienoch and i sound like a nigger huffing nitrous
