very nice job but you made the same mistake i made and wasted alot of money on upgrades and then i bought a trex 450 pro for for $489.00 from high fly heli and it came with a carbon fiber frame all metal gear servos a gp 750 gyro and a 35 amp esc and a torque tube and a re enforced fiberglass canopy plus all metal head and tail .the blade 400 for me turned into a money pit i wished i bought the trex first.
know ya i have noticed that a lot of popple change the tail servo to a reg size servo
is there a reason for doing that. i just got a 400 blade and it missing some parts should i use a reg size servo or go for the stock ones. for the tail servo .. thanks and merry christmas
Why didn't you just buy a align trex 450pro . Why do people buy blade 400s then try to turn them into trexs. I have a blade 400 upgraded without using any align parts .don' people no that align and eflite are enemy companys. Anyway looks great good job.Playback Setup
Sweet bird, I'd hardly call it a B400 anymore though. Looks like all that's stock is the tail boom and the hardware. That's like the ultimate of custom choppers. I wouldn't mind doing something similar to mine someday. Good job putting it together!
hey again! i have been flying my blade since x-mas and i only crashed it once becuse the heli drifted over my head and i lost control of the position of the helicopter. the crash was actually a well learned crash since i got to replace the tail boom the feathering shaft the main shaft and gears on one servo lol i learned alot off it though and i was wondering could u possibly give me approximate numbers for idle up 1 and idle up 2 for the throttle and pitch curves thanks man and i love this heli
Hey there. Very nice set-up. I'm setting mine very similiar and had a question about mounting the motor. On the ordinal frame the motor mount is recessed and has a space to run the wire leads down inside. How did you route them on the new frame? Thanks for any help.
Hey thanks! yea on the new frame where the front cyclic servo mounts under the battery tray. Well there's a cut out space there so u can mount the front cyclic on either side, i just ran the wires down the open space where u might have mounted the servo on the other side. then i mounted the speed control right under that at the nose. Hope this helps if u have any more just hit me up :)
hey love the mods u did on that it looks very cool especially the blue cnc aluminum whhich pops out....with the carbon fiber.... just wondering for where you put your receiver whetehr it is a spektrum,futaba,hitec.... how much space is there to fit the receiver cuz i have receiver that is a quarter of an inch high and wanted to know if it would fit in that compartment....???? thanks !!!!.....
@superfish99 Hey thanks alot! yeah i luv this bird, and to answer your question. Its a specktrum ar6100 receiver, there's plenty of space if u go a 1:49 seconds into the vid. U can see the wires poking out the back right below the rudder servo. Thats where it mounts and theres plenty of room to. Thats where it mounts on the stock frame as well, So right in back of frame in the lowest compartment. Just need servo tape and zip tie to hold it down and your good to go.
hey thanks for the reply that sounds grreat cuz i am not putting a 2.4 ghz receiver but just a normal 6 ch reciver.... As far as flying is it a good flier ... and have u had any problems with it? and the motor is that original from the kit???...
@superfish99 Hey whats up man, yes its a great flier for sure. What i like about it is that every piece on it is upgradable/replaceable, so know two are the same. I have not had any problems with my chopper, if anything was ever off that just meant something needed to be adj., trimmed or balanced which is normal with upgrades. The motor is not stock, it comes with a 420 3800kv. but with all the aluminum i thought it could use more power;) Mines the eflite 440 4200kv, (great upgrade!)
Congrats man, nice bird! Many people would say that the money you have spent into it, problably would've payed for a Trex 450. They are probably right. I have a 400 as well with aluminum head, upgraded gyro, servos, blades, etc. It's easier for a newbe to start stock(RTF) and progresibly replace/upgrade parts as u learn, grow and get more into the hobby. That is just my opinion.
BTW: Where did u buy that canopy, it is awesome!!! :)
would those skids/ all of these upgrades also work for a Blade 450? also, would I be able to put CF bars on those skids?
