STU was the second best show ever preceded only by Fire Fly. It was an absolutely amazing show. I still can't understand why a show like this will be cancelled. It will be missed. I'll never watch anything from Syfail ever again.
TV shows like this make me wish I would have paid for cable, instead of trying to watch it a week later on my phone. I don't understand how shows like this get canceled in shows like glee stay on. Sci-fi you have definitely lost a viewer by canceling the show!
It was so frustrating to see the hate for this show, when it aired, when you had such wonderfully complex, flawed characters such as Young and Rush, and Eli whose character arc in the first 2 seasons was just incredible, from slacker to the pre-eminent mind on the mission.
a MUCH better ending would be that there was no 'last pod' that was broken everyone went in and 3 years later(que slow uncertain music), start with long shots of destiny then goes into foggy pod rooms and close shot of a pod open, the fog clears(que inpirational music), and colonel young opens his eyes. END.
atleast THAT would be and ending, and i would be happy with that, the destiny continues, maybe we dont get to see it happen but atleast they dont spend eternity drifting through space...

Ugh! They should have at least gotten Eli to fix that last stasis chamber and gotten everyone out, but noooooo they decided to keep them all in there and end the series completely. So I guess they all died in those chambers so don't bother trying to think of anything good coming from this. So glad they wasted our money for something they were never going to finish.

Ok, I got 2 things to say. 1. They could share a pod because the suspended animation of a pod is constricted to 1 person, if you put 2 people in the two results of that happening is either you overload it and now you have 2 people without pods, or the second result is that it only parcially works and their stuck between alive and frozen and they could both die while in animation.
@MrWorth66 yeah i think their thinking was that each pod would only be built to sustain life for one inhabitant. even if he did get in another pod with another person they would have to be let out much sooner due to the overload to the pod of an extra lifeform. you know? makes sense tho what you are saying but i think its implied that its only one per pod
I agree the show was slow and took just a little too long to build on things (something one of the producers commented on in a podcast). Sounds like the writers drafted screenplay for the initial seasons as a "business plan," which SyFy then approved (SG1 was its launch series, btw, a pickup from Showtime). But apparently they need more quality content, with more depth and better special effects...so they said Fuck You Stargate! We got the greatest show ever coming!! Marcels Quantum Kitchen.
I can't believe those syfy faggots canceled this show just because people were watching this in the internet instead of on TV, I mean this is the 21st century, the age of the television is coming to an end. If TV networks start canceling shows just b/c of that, than in the next 20 to 30 years television is going to be totally gone. Sadly the show had major problems... Who's to blame? the writers... I understand what they were doing but season one took to long do develop character backgrounds... The cast? Although the majority of characters I would not care if they died in the next episode, the cast did a great job. Such a powerfull ending, the show didn't get a chance to find it's feet at least they gave it some dignity and showed the ending in a way that wasn't rammed into 5minutes, as most of finale's. @Matt2sugers Aye. Something is seriously wrong with the WORLD in general. Consumerism running rampant all over the world (even in places where people have nothing). War and random violence in massive proportions. And hundreds more factors too numerous to list. And now, NASA has closed down! And even though we knew it was coming it's still weird. The federal programs that get funded are supposed to be a reflection of what citizens want from their government. I think the closing speaks volumes.
I'm so sad that the series is over... Seventeen years of Stargate, and this episode is our last goodbye. The ending may be a cliffhanger, but it's perfect. With nothing to do but Study ancient history, fix sh*t, and exercise for 3 years the crew is going to be quite surprised to see Eli with the solution and a six pack once they get out of stasis.
@djfaygo You've got the story wrong. Eli has two weeks of life support to go through ancient records of the stasis pods and fix his pod. Otherwise, he has to sacrifice himself so they can last through FTL.

Hated to see them cancel this...was one of the few shows I watched. Great ending to this particular eppy and a nice send off for the show even though I wished there had been another season.
I don't agree about making a movie to tie everything up. The strength of Universe was that it took its time developing the characters and so it would be a disservice to just conclude everything in a 2 hour movie. I actually do not mind this ending. Although there were many things left unanswered, they turned a potential disaster of an premature ending into an ending that was heartfelt and hopeful. If they were to bring it back, I prefer them to do it 100% and not halfdonkied like a movie.

The problem is not that the StarGate shows are not popular in fact they are some of the most popular shows ever with fans all over the world. The problem is the MGM productions which owns the series. They declared bankruptcy and that is why the shows where cancelled. These shows, in my opinion, are the best shows I have ever seenThey have been pioneer in special effects since the first SG1 series. I can think of nothing that I've appreciated more in the entertainment world than this show. It was like fine art. As much as I loved SG1 and Atlantis, this was on another level far above.

It is unfortunate, that the writers had to change the ending for this episode, but I am quite happy with what they came up with. This is at least a semi decent ending for a series and can possibly get picked up again in five or even ten yers.
That is what we commonly call a CLIFFHANGER! We don't know what happened to Eli, and who knows how many pods will fail during the 3 years. They have to bring it back, even if it's only as a mini-series to answer all the hanging questions.

I was close to crying.. I've watched Stargate ever since 2000... I've watches SG-1, Atlantis and now.. This. It's all ending. It's really sad cause this show really had potential.
It's a shame to see this show end. At first I wasn't really liking it (but I still watched every single episode. Not on the internet but actually on the TV) and as the series progressed, it was getting more interesting and enjoyable to watch. I was so sad to hear that SyFy cancelled the show. It had real potential. This was such an emotional ending but I like how it ended with a cliffhanger rather than a rushed ending. Maybe someday another network will bring the show back up again? Who knows..
My favorite Eli/Rush "your brilliant and missed the obvious" is you have two mind swap stones and you didn't get Samantha Carter+ Dr. Rodney Mckay or Dr. Jackson in the same room with Eli & Rush to figure out how read/repair/explore/restore Destiny into an exploratory vessel using at least 75% of the ship and technology and fixing the shields and the guns to fire on auto and take out enemies of the ship and to use the machine shop on board to build and develop ??
This last episode does setup the possibility for an actual 3rd season or a movie....
but the problem I have and it keeps nagging me is that as brilliant as Eli and rush are their brilliant plans always overlook the obvious. You're brilliant enough to figure out how tell the drones to shoot each other but your not bright enough to create a virus to infect and destroy the drones and the command ships.......

@qcenaman Theres a difference between the first and second season, and thats kind of the bad part. Only character thats in ANY sence relatable/likable in the first season is Eli. Everyone else is kinda shallow until season 2. Although I wasn't a huge fan of season 1 myself, I kept supporting SGU, hoping it would get better, and it did.
it's their own fault. if it hadn't been for the "coincidental" timing of Atlantis' cancellation, the fans of the SGA (like me) and SGU probably wouldn't have been at odds with each other as badly, which was driving the ratings down.
you would have probably seen something more like what happened with SG1 & SGA running side by side instead. two separate fan bases that over time get used to each other.
SGU was a good series, it just took a while to get used to the changes.

why did it take over 25 episodes to feel our heart strings being pulled. I have to admit i was a big fan of SG1 and SGA... i had a connection with many characters but explain to me why it had to take so long for me to fell this connection in SG-U? it took 5 episodes of SG-1 to connect to T'ealc and about 2 Seasons to Ronon Dex of Atlantis?
FINALLY!!!! This is the proper punishment that SGU creators deserve. That is to leave a good project (ATLANTIS) and replaced it by a series without any interest. Now they have nothing, no SGU, no ATLANTIS. Thanks for giving us these wonderful cancellations, we will remember you forever.

I don't agree about making a movie to tie everything up. The strength of Universe was that it took its time developing the characters and so it would be a disservice to just conclude everything in a 2 hour movie. I actually do not mind this ending. Although there were many things left unanswered, they turned a potential disaster of an premature ending into an ending that was heartfelt and hopeful. If they were to bring it back, I prefer them to do it 100% and not halfdonkied like a movie.

The problem is not that the StarGate shows are not popular in fact they are some of the most popular shows ever with fans all over the world. The problem is the MGM productions which owns the series. They declared bankruptcy and that is why the shows where cancelled. These shows, in my opinion, are the best shows I have ever seenThey have been pioneer in special effects since the first SG1 series. Special effects like those could not be seen outside the movie theaterShame.Hopethey come backsoon!

I can think of nothing that I've appreciated more in the entertainment world than this show. It was like fine art. As much as I loved SG1 and Atlantis, this was on another level far above.

It is unfortunate, that the writers had to change the ending for this episode, but I am quite happy with what they came up with. This is at least a semi decent ending for a series and can possibly get picked up again in five or even ten yers.

That is what we commonly call a CLIFFHANGER! We don't know what happened to Eli, and who knows how many pods will fail during the 3 years. They have to bring it back, even if it's only as a mini-series to answer all the hanging questions.

@bc9931 The series got off to a bit of a rough start but picked up after awhile. However, its the move to Tuesday nights of Syfy that killed the show, so many other shows to compete with. I do hope that something happens to wrap up this lovely series, it ended too soon.

It's a shame to see this show end. At first I wasn't really liking it (but I still watched every single episode. Not on the internet but actually on the TV) and as the series progressed, it was getting more interesting and enjoyable to watch. I was so sad to hear that SyFy cancelled the show. It had real potential. This was such an emotional ending but I like how it ended with a cliffhanger rather than a rushed ending. Maybe someday another network will bring the show back up again? Who knows..

My favorite Eli/Rush "your brilliant and missed the obvious" is you have two mind swap stones and you didn't get Samantha Carter+ Dr. Rodney Mckay or Dr. Jackson in the same room with Eli & Rush to figure out how read/repair/explore/restore Destiny into an exploratory vessel using at least 75% of the ship and technology and fixing the shields and the guns to fire on auto and take out enemies of the ship and to use the machine shop on board to build and develop ??

This last episode does setup the possibility for an actual 3rd season or a movie....
but the problem I have and it keeps nagging me is that as brilliant as Eli and rush are their brilliant plans always overlook the obvious. You're brilliant enough to figure out how tell the drones to shoot each other but your not bright enough to create a virus to infect and destroy the drones and the command ships.......

Stargate series always had big flaws with it, it was just snack until the SGU. With this show franchise had the chance to become as moving and inspiring as Startrek or BSG series. We need this kind of shows because the children who watch those shows are experimenting on actual shielding tech to protect astronauts from ionizing radiation of space.(Just a mere example) I tell you this is wrong. Besides who will be making new sci-fi shows if you US guys dont, Canadians or French? Come on now

@qcenaman Theres a difference between the first and second season, and thats kind of the bad part. Only character thats in ANY sence relatable/likable in the first season is Eli. Everyone else is kinda shallow until season 2. Although I wasn't a huge fan of season 1 myself, I kept supporting SGU, hoping it would get better, and it did.

it's their own fault. if it hadn't been for the "coincidental" timing of Atlantis' cancellation, the fans of the SGA (like me) and SGU probably wouldn't have been at odds with each other as badly, which was driving the ratings down.
you would have probably seen something more like what happened with SG1 & SGA running side by side instead. two separate fan bases that over time get used to each other.
SGU was a good series, it just took a while to get used to the changes.

I have to admit i was a big fan of SG1 and SGA... i had a connection with many characters but explain to me why it had to take so long for me to fell this connection in SG-U? it took 5 episodes of SG-1 to connect to T'ealc and about 2 Seasons to Ronon Dex of Atlantis?
