@zyxwvutsREDD you speak the truth. it really boils down to this, if music is art, and art is expression, then why the fuck would you want to copy someones style? why don't you create your own sound? it gives out the message that your basically shit and all your fans really haven't got a clue. i love joy division, but its their sound, they created it, i just don't have any respect for pseudo artists/musicians who can't create anything unique and original...simples. fuck sake, this world is mad.
i like their early stuff.......this is not very good is it ?.....i like his welding goggles though and his jacket is also good for welding as the sleeves are very short so they wont catch fire
@Pianindo technically this is song was released as a single but it belongs on the album Primary Colours, if you look at the album in iTunes you can buy this song as a single or off the album Primary Colours
Who cares if you don't like it, they certainly don't. That's the beautiful thing about The Horrors. They make the music that THEY want to make. They produce it themselves, they have full control. They've evolved musically since Strange House & will continue to change with each album. It's like Joshua said in an interview.. "I don't want to make the same record twice. What's the fucking point? I might as well go work in an office and do the same thing every day if I wanted to stuff like that."

When I first saw a photo of the Horrors, and listened to their e.p.+ "Strange House", I figured that they were just another indie boy-band that would eventually devolve into sounding like the Killers. I came back to those albums a few years later, and thoroughly enjoyed them. The first single from "Primary Colors" excited me, but I was underwhelmed by the record as a whole. Now, they indeed have become the Killers. Or a really shit Psychedelic Furs. Garbage.
I don't know why you guys think it would be a great surprise. I just got to know them and I went to listen to the first album after reading your comments and I see the sense in the change of style. Actually reminds me of most post-punk bands from the 80's, their first albums sound more punk and then they developed a softer sound. Echo and the Bunnymen for example, even Siouxsie and the Banshees.
of course their second album is a bit disappointing but they're still pretty good and as soon as their music doesn't look like the shit I hear on the radio they can go on !
Both albums are good. its fucking annoying when people say that either of these albums are shit. There are loads of similarities between both albums as well, they didn't just wake up one day and change their style.
@epsohapshiro Coming from a huge Horrors & Arctic Monkeys fan. Alex Turner looks nothing like Faris Badwan at all. IF you mean the hair, Faris has always had the hair, as Turner has not.
Both completely different bands with different styles.
i'm sure you all know this but i was surprised to find out that there are 2 The Horrors bands. one from UK and one from USA, no wonder i was soo confused :/
dylan went from being folks glory boy to a badboy of rocknroll and beyond losing a few fans on the way but gaining a shit load more...change is natural and neccessary if you want to be a great artist and i reckon these guys are pretty exciting!
this is the best song I have listened to in the last 5 years or so..Horrors and A place to bury strangers are the best new bands of this last 5 years..
This is kinda strange, like early Sisters Of Mercy meeting early XTC! Got to get me Primary colours, as I just bumped into the wonderful Skying! Great band! What a voice!
@metalgrungefan123 because they have the imagination and desire to keep doing new things and i give them big respect for that because they could have just kept on going with there strange house music but they almost completely changed and it still sounds good
as someone who only knows the horrors as "visionary" posterboys for NME front covers, i must say the music is actually not bad, i just don't like how dressing like a cross between a bohemian gallagher twin and a goth makes them some kind of genuis band, and how you get told to like them by the same five or six elitist reviews at NME who actually attack their own readership and openly mock their letters, probably one for the NME channel rather than here
@ruday1101 or maybe some people think the music is actually amazing, your choice. I was led here by some other band, and I fell in love at first sight (listen?). Your opinion isn't always everyone else's.
@Slyanimationz i totally support what you say, attacking somebody based on there preferences is just cultural prejudice, i was just voicing my opinion, i don't think any less of anyone who likes this band; was just typing to myself in essence. personally i find an over reliance on the visual can detract from the music and it's integrity; just look at Metalica's nu-metal makeover. i think the main point here is that the New Musical Express is an awful publication
@ruday1101 It's actually far from that. If you listen to their earliest stuff and their first album they were a goth style band.
But their music evolved but felt no need to change image to drastically, If anything it's better to stick to something and not be seen and trend followers and let the music speak for its self, which I think it truly does. Primary Colours and Skying are amazing.
even visually this is the point between primary colours and skying. you can watch the official video of still life at pitchfork . you'll see what i mean
@DJJANT like much more the new style of them. They actually sounds tighter, onestly before i think they was kind of INTENTIONALLY copyng and pasting the Fuzztones music
