I have not seen the french version - plus, I cannot speak french. I also do not like watching films with any sibtitles, so all I can say is that I love the re-make version, I just wish it was at least set in a European country, where medieval history is much more in evidence that anywhere in America

Why do the American have to dumb down everything that's not originally coming from their country ?

They've done it with the UK version of the Office and now this rather pathetic remake of a 90's french classic..."André le Paté" ? rofl, it only sounds Medieval French to american ears i guess.

Couldn't forgive Réno and Clavier for this.

Stick to the original one from 1993, subtitled/dubbed if you can't get french (and if such a thing exists).

This version is no worse than the original. Both are dumb French farces. If you think the first one was a French classic of the 90's, que le bon Dieu sauve French classics.

As for 'The Office', the UK and US versions are a class above this 'theatre de boulevard' nonsense.
