  • man when I first saw this that was like.....14 or 15 years ago and I'm now 19 lol man memories are sure fun i hope to show my kids this some day =]

  • Thank you Jimmy for sharing, its great! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012!! Love Mellissa :)

  • OMG. Everytime that poor S.O.B's hat goes flying, I need to run out and get a DEPENDS. Yeah, it was racist, but come on people...It was the times, we know better and it still doesn't stop this from being some of the funniest stuff in creation. It's 70 years later and we are still laughing our asses off.

  • I think that guy running the board must have been Treasury Secretary Geithner's grandfather. He has the same look when asked a question.

  • That was epic !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I didn't know John Turturro(Board op) was that old! Fun seeing Butch, Scotty, Stymie and Spanky doing something else besides getting into trouble.

  • Mikey would... lol

  • It looks like the kid at 0:50 was eating the harmonica.

  • Rockin' live performance plus pyrotechnics too.

The Gang was way ahead of their time.

  • One of the greatest bands ever! Lol

  • What great amusement!

  • I like Stymie's drum kit.

  • This is industrial music of the 1930s. They're like the Nine Inch Nails of their time!

  • I have a boxed set of the uncut episodes....a lot of episodes, I dont know if its every show but quite a number...

The Bill Cosby thing is not true....urban legend...

  • he floats through the air with the greatest of ease that daring young man on the flying trapeze !

  • Marbles, wow.

  • I love it, when "Our Gang" was singing...

  • I am stalking Gerd's twitter, I find that Miokay sent him this link, now I'm here

  • This is what you get for stalking Mikey Way's twitter...

  • soo, Mikey Way, you just made my day, by linking this to Gerard Way a while ago ! xD

  • Gotta love the sound tech. I'd crack too.

  • Spike Jones became a rich man playing music that sounded just like this.

i also wonder if their name inspired the Beatles to call themselves Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

  • WHAT 5 ASSHOLES COULD DISLIKE THIS ??? .... Kids of ALL racial backgrounds playing together in a band - in the 1930s ???!!! ....... GROUNDBREAKIN' TV ....... Line those 5 up and get tha firing squad !!

  • @anonymousent this actually was never on TV, it was played in movie theaters every where, then to VHS, then to DVD. :)

  • oh Mikey ¬.¬

  • My life now makes sense. Thanks Moikaay.

  • SENT HERE BY SIR MICHAEL JAMES WAY~

  • AFTER THIS .... Didn't we all think we could make a band out of garbage ???? .... CLASSIC

  • although this time era was hard on america, i think it produced some of the greatest shows, again leave it to kids to not have any color or racial barriers, spanky mcfarland once said, we were kids having a great time we never ever saw or let any color issues ever on the sets rip spanky and those we've lost

  • showed this to my little cousin.... to my knowledge has never seen anything in black and white. Was confused at first but quickly related to simply seeing children being funny and began to laugh. These shorts are simultaneously, hopelessly date but yet timeless and forever funny!!!

  • @brytoob - LOL, it wouldn't be an Our Gang talkback without anti-PC off topic comments like that. But the fanbase only skews so reactionary because the sad fact is that most people in my experience WON'T watch this series, in part due to the racial aspect. They get grossed out by some watermelon joke, or to be fair one of the few really offensive moments, and disregard the whole series, groundbreaking progressiveness be damned.

  • This was funny 50 years ago and it's still funny now!!

    Thanks for posting it.

  • The guy getting his hat blown off never gets old

  • @ Penndemic - Your wrong about why Mr. Cosby bought the rights and stop the showing of The Little Rascals. His intention was to stop the stereotyping of Blacks that was common back then, this was also done to American Indians too. The end result is the truth about people is now allowed to come to the forefront. think about it no "Jim Crow" or "Wooden Indians" means a better self image for those this Iconography represented. I really don't want to filter my view of someone thru Prejudice

  • Thanks Bill Cosby, you bought the Little Rascals and we'll never see them again because you think that they're racist.

  • @Penndemic - You're wrong about why Mr. Cosby bought the rights and stop the showing of The Little Rascals. His intention was to stop the stereotyping of Blacks that was common back then, this was also done to American Indians too. I really don't want to filter my view of someone thru Prejudice

  • @Uzizi that was just a rumor. bill cosby never actually bought the rights.

  • @HuGGyBuNNy2 Is this True? if so then I hope people will lay off Mr. Cosby...

  • @Penndemic WHY U CAN'T SEE 'EM ? ...I GOT THE DVD's ...COPIES FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!

  • greatest piece of film ever. Not kidding.

    All Hail The International

    Silver String

    Submarine

    Band.

  • FUNNY EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Got that right Stymie!

  • From what I've heard, these kids helped the US during the Depression- inspired us with their camaraderie, comforted us, and gave us perspective, that they were the future and that there was no excuse to not pull together and get us through those times, for their sake. Corny, but should inspire us even today.

  • this is the type of fun that children should see on tv now. not some of the shows that are supposed to be sooo kid friendly

  • they playing good

  • I never laughed so friggin hard in my whole life.....Scotty BLOWS the SOUND MAN's HAT, right off his damm head ! THEN he flings a HUGE WADD OF GUM on Stymie's bass drum pedal...that pour sound man, by the end of the song his hair was straight up in the air...like Don King. LMAO....rolling on the floor.....

  • Still makes you smile after all these years!!

  • @AuntieJMac1959 ...."Smile"........I PISSED MY PANTS and TEARS ARE FALLING down my face...lmao....

  • These kids were so incredibly cute, I tell ya !

  • ...what a song...they should play that on national radio !!!!! Blows away some of the craP.... music today...lmao.....WHEN THAT GUYS HAT BLOWS OFF HIS HEAD...so fuckin funny...they stymie throws the bubble gum on the bass pedal of the drums...lmao...hahhahahahhahahhahahhaha...im dying...lol....hahahhahahahha

  • The edited versions shown to us in the 70's I will always remember fondly. The original uncut versions would definitely cause problems if shown today. It was what the times dictated. I for one was glad to hear that for most part No division among the children was made. Well Alfafa was a lil terror it was said.

  • Ive always luved this!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The guy at 0:59 was good in Eraserhead.

  • @mohinderbauer Not likely. This was released several decades before Eraserhead, but it's a good coincidence.

  • This is the greatest musical number in the history of motion pictures.

  • That dude in the recording booth made me LMFAO !! XD

He had the classic, "What the F-CK ?!!!" look on his face. Finished with "Sonofabitch...f-ck this sh-t !!" Seriously this brought back good memories from my childhood.

  • @ZZCFI75 ...yo dude, you got me laughing so fuckin hard....there are tears fallin down my face...lmao...hahhahahahhahahhahhahahha....the fuckin SOUND MAN...i watched ALL these episodes on a regular basis in the early 1960's...and I mean early !...lol...I now have all of them...UNCUT on VHS tapes....and a few on DVD. Cabin Fever use to own the rights...when they did, they released them UNCUT for a decent price...I jumped on it...Great post bro...I needed to laugh so hard...so badly...I owe u one

  • Thank you so much for posting this, it brings back a ton of my childhood memories watching The Little Rascals or Our Gang on the old VHS tapes. ^__^

  • Just like southsideperry said. Due to today's societys obsession with political correctness. People did'nt seem to have that problem back when this was made. Times were ALOT different then. This show would never fly today in fact the P.C. people would probably be coming out of the woodwork and having a field day. SO SAD:(:(:(:(:(

  • Dig the kid in the thumbnail. It's Robert "Baretta" Blake

  • @porcupinepicayune

Robert Blake did not join Our Gang until 1939/1940.The boy you are refering to is Scott Beckett.(I used to think it was Jackie Coogan, but I found out Coogan was in his teens when these films were made.)

  • @RJRanke Jackie Coogan? Wasn't that Uncle Fester??

  • @ScottJ794

I first got to know Jackie Coogan's name as Uncle Fester of

the Addams Family.Boy was I surprised to find out that he had started his acting career in silent movies when he was a little boy.:-)

  • "International Silver String Submarine Band" - Way ahead of its time...Even the name is cutting edge! Think about it - 1930's! I have to tell ya, its even funnier now then when I was a kid.

  • better musicians back then , than today !

  • you like lemons, their good for ur freckles while the other kid is trying to play the trumpet.

  • Thanks Alot:):):):) I can't believe i just watched something here that really brought back the memories after all these years. This particuliar episode was always one of my favorites as a child, and i can't believe i got to see it again. You really made my day i'm still laugh'in HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! THANX

  • I like the National Recovery Act symbol at the end.

    Classic stuff.

  • Being a sound engineer in the days of crystal curcuit breakers must've been hazzardous stuff...at least with these guys playing live!

LOL! Over modulate and get your hat blown off!

  • The Sound guy in the booth is beautiful, how funny is that shit? his hair blows through his hat...finally he just busts up the booth - the best part is all the kids in the booth with him. Also not shown is where the 1 kid sez to Spanky "When Im done Im gonna win this contest" and Spanky sez "When your done theyre gonna throw you out..." Classic

  • IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII love it!!! One of the best.

  • this is great, but what i'd like to know is..."who's gonna grease weezer?

  • i havent seen this episode since watergate-those sounds are very avant-garde.

  • What makes this truly a Little Rascals classic is the man in the booth. His expressions are great! One of my favorite episodes because of him.

  • this was the original funk band right here!!! stymie keeps hitting that chinese cymbal and the dudes hat keeps flying off....this one always keeps me laughing!!!

  • i want to see the heman woman haters clube!!!!

  • oh, the poor guy in the sound booth! i used to watch their shorts all the time when i was little. and then i could never undertsand why all the other kids hated black & white movies so much. i still can't. the classics are that for a reason.

  • Any Idea how to get still photos of this episode?, I love the look on the guys face in the sound booth, any help would be greatly appreciated , Triack42@yahoo

  • no idea. sorry.

you might be able to find a little rascals website somewhere? a site like that would probably have caps.

  • That's my favorite version of Man On The Flying Trapeeze. Heard it when I was a kid and have loved it ever since.

  • Is there a video of " Has Anybody Seen

My Gal?" from this same show?

  • Wow, that brought back memories. I was in love with the one girl. I am 31 now, the rascals were before my time BUT I still loved it. It was always on TV and I just loved it. What great memories.

  • just a great, fun, old memory vid, unreal, they were SO funny, a boatload of talent.

always a nice trip down the lane with them.

  • mp3 please!!!! PLEASE PLEASE MAKE HAHAHA!!!!

  • This is so damn funny! What has happened to kids shows??? Ain't like they used to be :(

  • Political correctness ruined it for everybody.

  • @southsideperry What the heck does political correctness have to do with this?

  • Comment removed

  • @southsideperry seriously. If these short films were racist, then how does one explain the children playing with Stymie and Buckwheat?

  • The guy in the sound booth is Bingo Marx, the 6th Marx Brother making a cameo in an Our Gang short

  • I had always thought that the guy in the sound mixing booth was Marvin T. Hatley who was one of the two major music writers for the Hal Raoch Studios, the other being Leroy Shields.

  • I at one time thought is was Raymond Scott, but looking at it now I don't think so.

As for Bingo, I am pretty positive there was never a Bingo, Zeppo and Gummo yes, but no Bingo...

  • does anyone know the name of the peace they are playing???

  • the man on the flying trapeeze

  • They make this song sound incredibly adorable. And Scotty is very cute... and so is Spanky's face at 1:21!

  • This is before Butch turned into the bully. LOL

  • In a few early episodes, Butch was a sweet kid!

  • rofl.

Mikey, how dare you leak MCR's new CD?!?!?!!

  • I have the collertors edition and this is one of them

  • OMG I HAVE THIS ON VHS!!! O.O AND IM 16 NOW 8D lol i love this xD

  • I feel sorry for the poor guy in the sound booth; lol

  • Wooooooooo SPANKY

  • THANK YOU! just was i was looking for!!

  • This was the first rendition of "Man on the Flying Trapeeze" I ever heard and the only one that stays in my mind (ear worm). I feel sorry for the guy in the control booth although he makes me laugh. My other favorite scene is when the kid was playing his trumpet and Scotty & Spanky were eating the lemons!!!

  • oh yeah... that was funny!

I loved the Little Rascals, they are one of my best memories of my childhood..

  • Awesome.. Thanks for posting this!

  • Totally sweet sound but MIkey, Gerard nabbed you for leeking it XD

    xDDD

  • I am lmfao at Gerard's tweet.

gerardway@mikeyway Oh shit! Mikey Way spilled the beans on the sound of the new album

    If so, can't wait... o.O

  • I wonder how many views it had before mikey posted the link?!

  • o_0 dude! I watched this w/my grandparents once! this episode! wooow. ha dis 89 baby knew what this was! ...yay?

    lol thanx mikey!

  • wow, very random mikey

  • Thanks Mikey Way :D

  • Ah. children and explosives. Always a good time.

  • Mikey, why? How did he even find this clip?

  • Those of you who remember when the Little Rascals was hosted by Joe Bova, raise your hand.

  • What if at the end of their performance, they smashed their instruments?

  • My favorite of them all! "Mike Fright."

This short had more great lines than most films!

    Brilliant stuff!

  • ...you've got to be kidding me!

    this is on here!

i wasn't the only one who loved this episode!

too bad its doesnt have them setting up during the whole role call

  • Elmer Raguse was the sound engineer for Hal Roach. It's no joke when those tubes blow from too loud of a noise! It was quite a hassle learning how everything worked since no one had experience with using sound! They had to be careful not to blow those tubes, for real!

  • He kinda looks like Harold Lloyd with his hair like that lol

  • wow man that's awesome!

  • @drumbot23 I KNOW THIS ONE ALMOST MADE ME CRY, I LOVE THESE KID, I WOULD BECOME OLD MOTHER HUBBARD FOR THEM ,THEY COULD LIVE WITH ME , AT THAT AGE THOUGHT LOL

  • It makes me quite proud and happy to see all the wonderful comments here, specifically those that mention "that poor sound engineer" with the "wild hair" who goes berserk with a hammer at the end with much comic effect, because the actor who played him was my uncle, Sid Walker

(my dad, Allan Walker, appeared in all 46 episodes, 1st and 2nd season, of "The Red Buttons Show")

  • They were actually called

"The International Silver SCREEN Submarine Band"

This is still one of my favorite episodes.

  • LOL,,that poor soundman..Hilarious~~

  • cdude wont u go read a bible may be u did not read some of the other stuff bro ohhhhh im so srry i hurt your feelings whatever go watch mr rogers

  • yo they rocking that shit fuck bill cosby salty ass faggot and thats from a black man he aint never done shit for me peace out

  • Dude-kids are watching this and experiencing the classic Little Rascals for the first time since they were deleted by cultural fascist. Lets not spoil the rebirth of such talent and history with profanity.

  • OMG I am so grateful that someone has gotten this on you tube, The best of the best lil rascal. Thank God Cosby hasnt stolen this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can we PLEASE put this crazy urban legend to rest? Cosby does not, nor has he ever, owned any rights to any Hal Roach comedy. Genius Entertainment just issued a set of all the Roach talkies on several DVD's.

  • I LOVE IT when the guy takes the hammer and destroys the sound equipment!!! Was that Pete Townshend's dad ???

  • TheInternationalSilverStringSubmarineBand would mkake nice YouTube name. Too bad its too long.

  • How about "IntlSlvStrngSubBand"?

  • Love that NRA logo at the end credits. I remember getting up early sat mornings to watch this. One of my favorite episodes. Man TV had a purpose back then. not all this reality D class celebrity crap of today.

  • In this case "NRA" meant "National Recovery Administration". And I agree with you on how the quality of TV has deteriorated.

  • well there we go i learned something new. :)

  • I used to get confused myself. It's not the gun group, but one of FDR's "alphabet soup" programs to get the USA out of the Depression.

  • yeah i WIKI'd it and it didn't interest me to the point of remembering. You are right though some sort of Hollywood mambo jumbo government involved power trip thingy.

  • Another 1 of my favorites LOL :D

  • Mike Fright is great however in fairness The Lucky Corner a very good one.

  • This is the short called Mike Fright. In my opinion the very best one.

It has more wit, timing and great one liners than any Little Rascals/Our Gang. There's also a fair amount of social comment about stage mothers, arrogant brats and how the underdog prevails.

    It's a great story.

  • This one was hysterical...especially when the guy in the booth loses his hat and his hair stands up! I am laughing soo much I can hardly type this!

  • OMG THEYRE SOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow this put the biggest smile on my face, i watched this like over and over again, omg they are the cutest little rascals i've even seen!! i just wanna smushhhhhhhh them all!!!!!!

  • This is the best version of this song I have ever heard. I found the Little Rascals video of this and play it often. The guy in the control booth with the hair is tooooo much.

  • i remember watching this when i was young...thanks for the video =)

  • OUR GANG!

  • This is one of the best. Were the Indternational silver string band, and the resepionist says are you shure? Then Dicky states mabe we aint us. Spaks replay what do you meran we aint us ummmmmm? These kids will never be forgoten. Tanks Jess

  • (After introducing themselves as the International Silver String Submarine Band):

    Receptionist: "Are you sure?"

(Band stares at her in silent confusion)

    Dickie: "Maybe we're not us!"

Spanky (in disgust): "'Maybe we're not us...' HUMPH!"

  • MrUnidyne, Dickie wasn't in this. His name was Scotty Beckett. :) :)

  • I stand corrected. It was Scotty, not Dickie.

  • That was a spoof of Laurel & Hardy. They sometimes visited the set and gave the kids pointers. They had a cameo in one episode. It's where Spanky and his parents went to get their picture taken and Spanky was afraid that he would be shot by the camera.

  • I wish someone would send in the episode when the gang was at Granny's house and she was rollerskating around her house!

  • This was one of the funniest episodes of the "Our Gang" series. I can never forget the guy in the sound room and the funny hair and his hat blowing off all the time. I was laughing on the floor by the time the show had ended. I still laught my ass off today when I see it.

    Rick Ryan

  • One of my favorite shorts. Thanks

Because of this episode, whenever I see someone with a lemon, I always have to say, "You like lemons?"

  • Still more popular than Depeche Mode! (and better musicians!)

  • This is one of my favorite Our Gangs!

  • On of my all time favorites. I'd been looking for this for a while.

  • This is the scene where Paul McCartney not only got the idea for Srgnt Pepper but also Yellow Submarine. He liked the long name and the submarine reference. His brother Mike even said he use to rib Paul by calling him Spanky...He does look like Paul doesn`t he?
