This is fantastic! And an original too! Wonderful work. I love it.
Towards the very end you're doing a technique where it sounds like you're flicking the string really hard. I've heard a bunch of it, but I can't find an explanation anywhere. How do you do it?
thank you very much for your kind comment. I learnd this technique from Steve Baughman, a well known player of celtic tunes. He calls it middle finger twack. Somewhere I found the name clawhammer style. You have to clench your fist and snap your middle finger out of the palm, right at the string you want to pick. You hit the string with your nail just for a short time. Don't rest the nail on the string, let it ring. I use the index finger as well.
I thaught myself playing guitar at the age of 14 - just to play Bob Dylan songs and stuff like that. Then I got introduced to tabulature (John Pearse and Stefan Grossman) and the Ragtime / Blues was my aim for many years. After a couple of years, during my studies at university, I got some lessons in classical guitar style. But that was only a short period. So, that's all - many thanks for stopping at my video. Hopefully you enjoyed the music!
Formidable!! Bravo!! Your playing is tops. You need to get into a studio and get this stuff recording. You're the best Celtic player I have found so far on youtube. Great pleasure to listen to! I want a whole CD!!
I love the spirit of celtic tunes and I'm very glad, that you like my reditions. Have to do more of them - but sorry, no CD at the moment or in planning with songs like these. There are a lot of really wonderful celtic players on YouTube. I recommend Pierre Bensusan, Steve Baughman, Franco Morone or Pat Kirtley, to mention a few!
Again, thanks a lot and have a wonderful christmas time and a happy new year,
Thank you very much for your compliment. I'm sorry but I have nothing written down for this piece. It's an original compositon and in some parts improvised at that time. Yes, the bag pipes were an inspiration for this tune.
Many thanks for the interest. I keep a video demonstation in mind but at the moment I have no time. Also have to think about closeup technique (and a video assistant) to get it right. So be patient!
I prefer the first half over the second half though. I hope you don't mind but I added this to my playlist of random music I like on YT, to listen to whilst on my pc :]
Thank you very much for your kind comment and beeing on your playlist. Well, I think it's not perfect, but the best I could do at that time - it's still in progress.
as said in the title of this piece it's in the alternate tuning DADGAD (from bass to high strings). Try this tuning, it's much fun to play and especially very good for celtic sounds.
I'm very sorry but I have nothing written down for this tune. In some parts it's improvised and I play it always in an other way. Maybe someday I'll find the time to write a tab for the main part - til then have a close look and many thanks for your interrest!
Celtic guitar is something I've got into a lot recently. Inspired by songs from Led Zep such as Going to California, Battle for Evermore, and the III album, as a novice is there anything in particular that is useful to know?
Hey Bernd! Nice to hear you again this morning! Good start in my day! Very nice playing! Great to see how your fingers are dancing over the fretboard!
I'm so glad you like it, Dale. I always apprechiate your honest comments. Feel free to criticize. I need all advice on playing and composing. And for sure I would love that chance too.

P.S. You can see this technique a little better in my Daisy Goes a Dancing video. I snap there with the index finger.

Very very very impressive. Are there tabs for this or is this like your own composition? The second part kind of reminded me of bag pipes. Awesome!
