  • All tarot cards are shit.

  • Good recommendations, not! There is something off with all of them.

  • Fat Tarot.

  • hehe, First of all, can I just say... I LOVE YOU! You're awesome! Secondly, YEAH, those decks were pretty awful, but you've missed a couple! You want incomprehensible, in fact, UNREADABLE? Try the Ramses: Tarot of Eternity! It's Egyptian, but has some INCREDIBLY bad cards in it! Another rubbish one is the GAY TAROT (and I'm a gay man!) The cards make NO SENSE, and I just find it insulting! Don't get me wrong, I read intuitively, as well as from the meanings, but seriously, some decks suck! :)

  • Hahaha, some parts were so funny lol. XD Overall, great video, you did a good job, and the reason why you got many dislikes is probably because you included the thoth deck in the top10 of the worst decks, which is totally okay, since everybody is entitled to their own opinion. The bright idea deck looks the funniest lol.

  • If you really knew the underlying system behind tarot, you could simply write the card name or card number on a blank index card. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. aesthetically pleasing? OMG. You name a card,I can tell you its element, its sign, its place on the place sepharat, its astrological sign, its zodiacal sign, its angelic name, its goetic name. And can show you exactly how it receives all these attributes.I don't mean to "diss" you, but you have a LOT to learn.

  • i have the shadowscape tarot and i love them so much

  • and btw, it is not like i am a great fan of these decks, but i certainly appreciate them.

  • Quite possibly the most unnecessarily negative clip i've seen on utube. That is the best thing i can say about it.

You lose all credibility putting Golden Botticelli Tarot and Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot in your list. This is truely beyond belief. Both highly regarded decks, many people see the Thoth deck as a 'must have' for collectors.

Botticelli was done by A. Atanassov and published Lo Scarabeo, who is famous worldwide for quality decks.

All the best, and please cheer up.

  • Oh, lord love a duck. I'm in agreement with your no 6 choice. The Egyptian deck is truly disorienting. However, again you display your ignorance when you say 'this deck has to go!' about the Thoth deck. WTF?? If the Grandmother of modern tarot is the RWS, the Grandfather is the Thoth. Everyone in the tarot community knows that.

Now I know why you have pissed off so many people.

My advice? Take these videos down, and find another hobby.

  • 7 - the Haindl Tarot. Oh my goodness, you really don't get it. I've now also come to the conclusion that you don't understand the tarot, and perhaps on some level hate it.

The deck was painted by Hermann Haindl, a man who was made to dig his own grave 4 times when in a POW camp. His art is extraordinary, for those with eyes to see. The minor arcana are almost unique in that they don't show people. His simple scenes from the natural world to commuicate the cards meanings is genius.

  • @key2kingdom I think the Haindl is one of the most beautiful decks I own - I felt that way the first time I held it in my hands, and the feelings for it deepened the more I learned about the artist and the symbolism, and how it reflected his experiences in life.

  • @Bhav341 Haindl's tarot is truly one of the most overlooked, almost certainly one of the best. He also did an excellent rune oracle, his paintings are made for esoterica.

I'd love to see more of his work . .as far as I know, there is no more in print.

  • Oh God, I'm changing my mind about saying that I appreciate your efforts to contribute to the tarot world. You are damaging it. Re your comments on the Sprial tarot . .

8 - Spiral Tarot - Kay Steventon the artist has contributed 3 decks to the tarot community. This was her first, the 2nd was called 'Celestial Tarot', and the most recent was an oracle of Goddesses. Your comments about her art style are misinformed, rude, dismissive and immature. Do you know anything about art?

  • 9 - the Palladini. I bought the deck in 1996 when it was published. Thre is nothing wrong with the laminate. The cards do not stick together. And how fair is your review, that you don't even show a single example from it? Reviewers should be responsible. There is a danger your comments could be taken seriously, resulting in perfectly good contributions to the tarot world being dismissed.

You say 'because of the fact that you can't use them'.

    That statement is Utter Garbage.

  • I appreciate that you're contributing stuff about tarot, however it's fair to make the following points about your choices.

10 Botticelli - this is an Art deck, based on the style of the Renaissance. There are many good things about it. For example, you chose the awful Scarabeo tarot as your 3rd best deck. It looks like it was drawn in a day. Have a look at the 6 of cups in it, for example. A naked woman . . does that have anything to do with the meaning of the card . . 'nostalgia' ?

  • @fiirefly I see your fine comment was flagged as spam.

I've just unflagged it. Your comment makes complete sense to me.

The animal deck she heads up to number one is one of the most confusing and annoying decks I have. However, I admire the artists work, and have kept the faith with her, buying her latest 'fairytale tarot' as well as her other contributioins (Celtic Dragon, Fantastical Creatures).

  • Your reasons are close-minded, superficial, and not well explained at all. You also seem far more concerned with showing us your face rather than the cards.

  • @YourWickedAngel33 hahahaha! Well said Dude.

The Palladini deck didn't even find it's way out of the box.

    Nice one ;)

  • Why'd you buy ten decks then LOL - isn't this like almost $200?

  • @psynema Good question!!!

A love / hate relationship with them perhaps?

  • Hahahaha funny video, I kind of agree! hahaha funny video..

  • oh, and there are even more tiny cards out there.....like the size of stamps...you can barely even hold them in your fingers....lol...but those small ones are a common size for the Spanish cards used in most Latin cultures.

  • You're funny.....I liked this video, I am just sorry and hope you didn't have to pay for any of those decks....and if you have lots $ at least there is a lesson to be learned here. But thank you for showing us what not to get. :)

  • @irishcladdah3 OK, being as we live in a free world I'm going to ripost and advice you to ignore the comments on this video abou the tarots, as you seem to have sucked 'em all up like a sponge.

Most of the decks under 'scrutiny' here are very good, some of them classics.

    Don't believe everything you hear.

  • I don't agree with her, about any of the decks. There are a few in here I love. I do think it's a great video because she tells why she doesn't like the ones she chosen, even if some of it isn't articulated completely. It also lets people know that your not alone if you don't like a deck and everyone says you should. She was also funny. And this dear tarotist is why there are hundreds of decks. Some well will love, and some we won't.

  • The brilliant idea deck, wasn't so brilliant...

  • @Euipoi It's a perfectly good deck, based on Buddhist principles.

  • I happen to love the Spiral tarot deck.

  • @cloverseverywhere Me too.

  • In this you are being kind of judgemental, each tarot deck means something different to everybody, I happen to love the Thoth deck and I think the round cards and the Bright Idea tart are really creative and novel. Thank your for your time making this video, but to me, it sounds a little bit close minded to new ideas.

  • @wiccanman16 Close minded is where it starts.

Only a fool wouldn't know what to do with a round deck. It's a great idea, especially for reversed card meanings.

I wonder what she's make of the Heart tarot that the same artist created last year, each card is heart-shaped. It's wonderful.

  • THE " HAINDL " is best ....!!!!!

  • @bettan29 Yes, it is. Right up there, with the Karma tarot, the Thoth, and the RWS.

  • Did She Say "FUGLY"?! ((ROFLLMAO))!

  • @GaelaMorgana yeah Fugly fuckun ugly i love that word this is the first time i hear someone else say that word :)

  • ROFL.... Tarot for Gnomes! hahahaha

  • Brilliant. A great service to everyone.

  • LOLOL You were cracking me up, but I do see your point. However, the Haindl deck is my dream deck. I wouldn't read without them!

  • "The Haindl deck lacks any comprehensibility".

Perhaps for you, but not for everyone. If you are not willing to take the time to study occult matters, then these kinds of decks will always be a mystery to you. Also, you cant trash the Palladini deck just because you happened to get a pack that was a bit sticky. Did you even bother to take a look at the cards?

  • im a novice and i chose the botticelli deck for my readings. i am just starting to learn about tarot. i've been using the mystic lenormands before and i absolutely LOVE them. and because of my love for art and fancy stuff i chose the botticelli deck. i love the way the cards look like and i feel like i will be able to dig deep into the meaning of the cards since im an artist myself. i appreciate your opinion but it is JUST your opinion. you shouldnt make it sound like you know better.

  • The Thoth deck should be at number-1. What do you mean it's too abstract? You mean you can't read deeper into the meanings without having them spoon fed to you? Too cryptic? Maybe if you spent time learning the system it was based on (tree of life/qabbalah)...

  • Deck preference is a very personal thing. I respect your right to express your own tastes but to any beginners watching, please choose deck(s) that YOU feel drawn to.

  • How about the "Gummy Bear Tarot" deck, it's a deck no one will take seriously.

  • @transtremm You got that right! haha

  • @transtremm Yes but do you always need to be taken seriously with Tarot I have over 600 decks and you can have fun with them too! Who wants to be boring and serious all the time?Thats why Tarot is so many things to me. Not just readings. For art, fun, meditation, scrying, spirit communication on and on.& of course you know your choices of what is good and bad in Tarot is only an opinion.Art is so subjective and personal. Ugly decks can read well, in fact its your talent as a reader that matters!

  • 4) Lady Horacle31: Maybe you are a great Tarot reader, and the decks that you like (in other video) are really Good, but that does not mean that you know about other ways of seeing and using Tarot, and your opinions are not the best qualified for Tarot Novices.

    Good Luck !

  • 3) The same can be said about the Bright Idea Deck, that is conceived to be used in Office and Corporate environments, that obviously don't see the Tarot as a respectable tool. So its great author adapted (disguised) the Tarot as cards for Brainstorming and Trainning sessions, that work nicely for those purposes, and are just great for traditional Tarot readings about work environments.

Then, Tarot NOVICES with corporate viewpoints can start their Tarot journey with this one ...

  • 2) An example: The large Thot deck is very useful both for Magick spells, meditation, and for a type of reading in that you go deep INTO the cards by asking about the attributes of its component images, the big catrd as a kind of framework, and maybe using a smaller Thot deck and placing the little cards above the part of the big one you are asking about.

So, the problem in this case is that YOU DON´T KNOW HOW TO USE IT, and don't know about the Great Symbolism its has.

  • I think that this is a very personal view, that may be respected as such, but a BAD ADVICE FOR NOVICES looking to know what Tarot deck(s) choose for learning or expanding their knowledge.

I dissagree with you in most of your opinions, as you seem to know almost nothing about how a deck structure and simbolism work, for specific purposes.

  • I use the Spiral Tarot all the time and it works great. I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't like it for it's aesthetic value.

  • I think you have sort of missed the point of the tarot. Maybe you are the type of card reader who likes everything clear cut and spelled out for you, so you don't have to really think about it? While I myself think that some decks border on the ridiculous, especially the novelty decks, you reasoning for discounting these decks seems a little shallow.

  • @Bhav341 Cool comment Dude.

Great to see people are not sucked in by the garbage in this video.

  • @key2kingdom the people who are sucked in are a necessary part of the market - after all, someone has to buy all the fairy unicorn gummy bear lord of the rings decks. For those consumers, her insights are valuable, articulate, and show great insight.

(no offense to any collectors, I would actually love to have a copy of the Gummy Bear tarot!)

  • @Bhav341 LOL I doubt that the consumers you speak of would know what the words valuable, articulate and insight really mean.

I personally like many of the fairy and unicorn decks. My only problem with the LOTR deck is that the images are too small and the borders way too large.

I'd never say no to a gummy bear either . . I like the Tropical ones.

  • @key2kingdom

Okay, okay, I own the Mystic Fairy tarot and the USGames Faerie Tarot. I confess, I CONFESS!!!!! Phew. Now that that is out for all to know, I can also admit that I own the extremely cute Tarot of a Magical Forest.

But as we both know, they are not all there is to the tarot.

    PS I love your avatar.

  • @Bhav341 I have all those decks too Dude :o)

Well said - as they are not all there is to the tarot.

I've now over 800 decks at home . . many are very rare / out of print / have a look at my channel, back in May last year I posted over 1000 of my favourite images in slideshows.

  • @Bhav341 I love the Sheep on Temperance and the Star in the Magical Forest tarot.

  • @key2kingdom oh yeah, and the sheep snuggled up to the lion in Strengh...awwww, so precious!

800!! Damn. That blows me away. I don't even have 100...yet. I did watch a few of your slideshows....I've a few out of print, some valuable, but probably nothing rare. I haven't been collecting that long - spent many years using just two decks, then about 2 years ago I thought it would be fun to get a lot more - got 4 this week: Robert Place's new Alchemical, Neuzit, an oop Wirth, and an oop Xultan.

  • @Bhav341 Yay! The lion lies down with the lamb.

The Xultan is one of my favourites.

I found the original first edition of it, 2nd hand in Glastonbury town. It's much bigger than the subsequent editions.

Same goes for the Neuzeit - the first edition was also 'outsize'.

Have you seen the Rosetta Tarot? It's self-published, a re-work of the Thoth. Recommended.

  • @key2kingdom not sure if my new xultan is 1st ed or not - the 1st has brown backs too and the keywords are in english - right? I meet the guy selling them tomorrow morning, he's local. he only wants $10 - but he may not know it is worth more.

Yes, seen the Rosetta scans .....it's on my "want list"...are you an AT member?

  • @Bhav341 I can't get to my copy of the 1st edition at the moment, however it rings a bell that it has brown backs . .

The more popular edition is in my hands now. The backs are green with quetzals flying across, and measure 11.5cm x 7.5cm.

AT? Aeclectic? yes, I review decks sometimes. My name there is SpaceGoat :o)

  • @key2kingdom well, my new Xultun is not the 1st ed, it's the one with the green backs and the multi language - ah well. It's still an older edition, $75 on ebay so not so bad. In excellent condition too.

  • lol this is freaking hilarioius! XD

  • Your understanding of tarot seems very shallow. Some day you will learn to appreciated each of these decks. Just because you don't connect with a deck doesn't mean it's one of the worst, it means you aren't ready to connect with it YET, if you write them off so quickly, you are doing yourself and your sitters a disservice.

  • I was with you till you pulled the Crowley - Thoth deck. This deck holds so much esoteric detail it is probably one of the best decks for students of the occult. It has also served me very well in divination among others. Are you talking about decks to learn for divination solely ? Because I'm sure there are many people who work well with a lot of the decks mentioned - despite not suiting your aesthetic sensibilities .

  • I really like your honesty with why these decks were impractical... overall this was narrow minded. You talked about how they weren't very pretty or how they were too big or the ones were round so they couldn't be used for readings. Tarot isn't always meant to be pretty, not everyone uses reversed meanings and some people love to read with larger decks. To me this was good because I saw lots of decks, but i feel you lack a certain understanding of the tarot and their symbolism.

  • I´m almost agree with you, but Crowley´s tarot in my opinion is quite good and helpfull if you are intuitive and can feel its powerful and energetic images ;) Greetings from Madrid, Spain

  • I am just starting to get interested in Tarot decks and this video was sooo helpful! I loved your perspective on the decks. I agree with SmaragdineSage - love your candidness! P.S. Love your eye-liner!!!! :-)))))

  • @NikkiD111 This video is not helpful. It is the opposite.

If you want intelligent reviews of the tarot, go to aeclectic do org

This video is fuelled by ignorance and bigotry.

  • @SmaragdineSage Thank you so much! I really do appreciate the positive feedback! Will be coming out with top 10 best tarot decks- long overdue! Don't forget to subscribe!

  • What is trash to one is treasure to another.

The proper thing to say is that these decks didnt fit YOU. Other than that nothing makes them bad.

You lack ANY understanding of what the Thoth deck is all about. Unless you actually go deeper into occult matters than just looking at the pictures you will stay lost. You have no clue what anything in the Thoth even means. Say it needs to go because it is not pretty to look is totally ridiculous.

  • @dvharris75 Yep! I had too laugh that she showed her ignorance and complete lack of any actual Tarot knowledge to say what she did about the Thoth. Even if you dont admire the art....come on...one can recognize something as major a system as the Thoth. She's a bubble gum reader! She doesn't even know they come in different sizes...lol Complaining about how big they are. I bet she adores the Robin Wood.

  • @dvharris75 You are totally correct, she has no idea of the occult meaning of The Thoth. Horacle31, you are dismissed as a serious occultist. Trying to correlate "pretty" artwork with the Tarot is like thinking sandpaper would make a great toilet paper--sure it would work but the results would be less than satisfactory.

  • @dvharris75 I agree with your comment completely. Golden boticelli deck is my personal favorite because I CONNECT to that deck and feel like I have an understanding of the characters and themes. This same deck does not do it for others, just as some deck that they connect with might not do it for me. Doesn't mean I will diss other decks. This video is unbelievably shallow.

  • @dvharris75 Thanks for your sane comment Dude.

This woman's postings are a text-book example of the dark side of the internet.

I hope no one finds the hateful rubbish on this channel. She is doing artists and the tarot community an injustice. I believe, deep down, she hates the tarot. I suspect she's in denial.

  • When you showed the one with four cards in one I believed I would die, what a concept. I think I just have to get them for the novelty of it. The Circle of Life cards however I kind of think look nice and I want that deck.

  • Interesting...I've actually had really good luck with the Thoth deck and have given some of my most accurate readings using it. I loved them the moment I saw them when a psychic gave me a reading. I've found the Thoth to be more straightforward and brutally honest to me than the standard Rider Waite and its clones. Although I do understand that not a lot of people like the Thoth; I guess it's whatever deck draws you.

  • Oh God, New Palladini is awesome, I have the Aquarian by the same artist and like it a lot. I know some don't like the Spiral, but that one too I seem to like.... for the art.

I think it's just a personal preference... :) Thanks for the video.
