jose2144 i was also...i sat field level...1st row in front of first....they were amazing seats nn it was a great view of the catch and double play!! the bad thing was the cards victory dog pile was rite in front of me...it was heart breakin!!
I was at that game of "The Catch" Damn't The Mets didn't win they should 've just because of the catch! But it will live forever as you walk into Citi through the Left Field Gate Indy Chavez is above the gate in silouette We should've won that game!
Its the same thing with the 05 NLCS! People talk about the Pujols homer which made Brad Lidge's run with Houston a disaster from then on, but the Astros still won the NLCS!
In response to the zillion people who have asked, I was on the field as an intern at the Queens County District Attorney's office. Each year they have a Shea Day to show their appreciation for our work. It was a blast.

first of all melky's catch was better than cahaez, however situational endy's came at a better time but it would have been better if the mets could have actualy won. second, try running full speed looking up and the second you look down try stopping with ure hand in the air youll fall into the stands jeter caught it took 1 step looked down and flew into the stands
first of all where were teh yankees wen this game wuz playd?? exactly and if u say melkys catch wuz better u have to be 1 fucked up person cuz there is no way in teh world taht his catch was better. y dont u just go suck mikeal kays cock while he jizzes all over paul oneil and al leiter wen arod hits a homerun
Sadly, we had already thrown our one and only baseball over the fence already... so no, we didn't throw back in.
However, a major league ballpark is a lot smaller than you'd think in real life. I was making pretty routine tosses from the warning track to second base and I never even played in high school.
Wow, real mature buddy. After reading some of your posts. It appears you can't be any older then about 16. You talk down to me as a Cardinals fan as if we haven't won anything. I don't have to look any farther then last year. But of course I'm sure you are one of the ones who feel it was "luck"? We were in the series and choked in 04, last year was the same team with Carpenter and guys like Rolen, Edmonds, Molina stepped up this time.
Oh please. First off, "the catch", if there can only be one, is a catch in football. I believe it was a pass from Montana to Dwight Clark. Second, this catch is a million times better than Jeter's stupid leap into the stands, and there are about 100 plays a season that are also better.
Actually, considering the situation, Game 7 of the NLCS. It was the greatest catch I've ever seen. I can remember getting so excited when the ball left his bat. Rolen had been struggling and everyone was questioning his shoulder and power. Then Chavez takes his HR away. I don't think I've felt more dejected in my entire life. At that point, I thought we were done.

And team to root for? Do you REALLY want a piece of the Cards again come playoff time? If you haven't noticed, we're only 3 games out of 1st. We're 8-2 in our last 10, pitching great. Pujols has homered in his last 5 games. Mulder will be back in a couple weeks, and he's made 2 quality rehab starts so far. Our bullpen has been virtually untouchable.
uh...i don't care how hot you guys are, you are not even in the playoffs yet. why don't you take the lead in the division or wild card, then we can talk about "round 2"
Wow what an awesome field just the way the area was so compact towards the foul pole love Shea go phils

It may well have been the greatest catch ever if the Mets went on the win the game, but we all know what really happened

Without that catch, no way we win that game. Awesome stuff, wish there was video of it somewhere.

Awesome, now can you run to the plate and recreate Beltran's (non)reaction to Wainwright's sick curve?

How did you guys get on the field? I got on for some awards night but I was just the camera-man for that in the homeplate area.

I have nothing against the Cardinals, but let us not forget the Mets are an EXPANSION team. The Cardinals were around before the first world series.

was that at the picture day thing at shea?
jericho360 4 years ago
Wow, At least the Cardinals had no pitching, probably the most injuries to deal with of any team. It was simply a down year for the Cards.
But this Mets team is just pathetic. Nice choke job, guys, you should be proud.
Blaker34 4 years ago
this isn't "the catch" you guys stole the term from jeter's catch where he jumps into the stands. it is a great catch but not "the catch"
mntnbik8 4 years ago
Oh please. First off, "the catch", if there can only be one, is a catch in football. I believe it was a pass from Montana to Dwight Clark. Second, this catch is a million times better than Jeter's stupid leap into the stands, and there are about 100 plays a season that are also better.
thetailor 4 years ago 3
That same season, David Wright outright leaped into the stands head on to get a foul ball and landed on some empty seats.
Jeter made a running catch on a foul ball in the field of play and ran into the wall and toppled halfway into the stands.
MakBot 4 years ago
Jeter's catch was nice and clutch and all, but nothing like Endy's.
AlexbyJC 4 years ago
jeter got caught the ball in fair territory and over exagerated and dove into the stands and got more banged up that he expected.
