and the US owns Afghanistan? When did this happen? I didn't know military presence/state was considered purchasing land? Especially since we have not tried to help establish a better governing body in these countries... and its not really like they want our type of government anyways...

The Czech signing of the Lisbon treaty might speed up the process. Europe needs to counter US, Russia, China and in future India's military powers.
