When I was in college, someone was playing some crap loud in the apartment complex and I was playing this. My roommate had Kilpsch speakers and I got pissed and cranked Helter Skelter and that bass was killing. The other guy would turn his music up, then me, finally I got mad and cranked it all the way for the rest of the song. He quit trying to compete against Helter Skelter.

Charlie Manson is one sick individual. WIth his drug crazed mind and his influance over his followers has nothing to do what this song is about. From what I have read it is the name of some huge slide at a amusement park in England.
Hahahah, a helter skelter is just a type of ride you get at fairgrounds and stuff...little kids ride on them, they're just like a big tower with steps on the inside..you climb up and then go down the slide which goes round and round the tower like a spiral staircase..they're always a bit dodgy and old, but this song makes them sound quite cool :P
So amazing this is the same group that sang I want to hold your hand, and love me do, they had such all around talent it's almost scary, too bad they couldn't hold things together a few more years....
