looks like u used some kind of fuse here but in a real tennis ball bomb u use strike anywhere matches, fill the tennis ball up and put about 5 layers of duct tape around it. this way when u throw it blows up from hitting whatever u threw it at

@davidbarz i beleive you are talking about the anarchist cookbook, and im not saying its correct, ive never read it. But it is sulfate not chlorate. Sulfur is the red part I beleive and what makes it burn. The pottasium part I think is the white part and when you strike it they mix and you have a chemical reaction where the biproduct is fire

i beg to differ. the anarchist cookbook (depending on legitimacy and version) has several legit recipes for a varity of explosives and some drugs. For example, the excerpt on Crystal Meth (Methamphetamine), is completely accurate, as well, as the tennis ball bomb.

Strike anywhere match heads contain potassium sulfate which is one of the main ingredients in flash powder (hence not having to light it). but kudos with the excellent flaming and conceded useless comment.

Standard 70/30 flash powder contains only potassium nitrate and extremely fine dark aluminum powder, not potassium sulfate. The anarchist cookbook, whether containing accurate information or not, is stupid as fuck, and furthermore the middle school kids that "use" it are generally just as stupid as fuck. Anyone that made it past the 8th grade that considers the cookbook legit should stop setting their neighbor's cat on fire and get a job.

I belive it's potassium perchlorate used these days. More powerful oxidizer than nitrate and far less sensitive than potassium chlorate. Perchlorate is a fairly standard ingredient in all manner of pyrotechnic mixes, and everyone should have a pot or two lying around for emergencies! :-)
