Diana has always been amazing. She has that certain "jena sais quo" about her that makes her stand out and it helped made her the superstar that she became. Her voice is unique, in that she doesn't have a soulful voice, but a baby like voice that appealed to Whites and Black alike. She has crossover appeal. I still don't understand why some people hate on her, other than jealousy. She may have been tempermental when she was with the Supremes, but it was due to her determination to reach the top.

I saw Diana Ross up close and with no makeup at the supermarket of all places (Los Angeles). She was not that dark..... I was a little surprised at how good she looked.....very natural.

Timeless, and yet so very timely!

I love Diana! My favorite entertainer of any genre; any time. But can someone answer this? Her skin looks so light here, and I dont see how it can be entirely due to lighting! I just watched a clip of her on Laugh In (close to 40 years old, around 1970) and she is VERY dark. I see no recent clips where she is even nearly as dark as photos from the 60's and 70's. If any one has an explanation, thank you.

Check out a clip of her & The Supremes performing "The Happening" on Ed Sullivan, posted by john1948twelve. That clip shows her with the same caramel-coloured skin that she has here, whereas "TCB" clips, filmed almost, if not more than, a year later, show her with dark brown-coloured skin..

The problem was both lighting & the camera stock/film. Only recently do most shows, etc., film using what's called "color-accurate film".

It was very hard to photograph black people in the 60's and 70's. You needed very much lighting... it's still more difficult to photograph black people. And I guess they have a lot of blue lighting here...

I went to her book signing in Harrods in London ,and when you get close to her she is a truly beautiful BLACK woman.

She's stunning close up, so stunning that you feel queazy, it's just not fair how one woman is so blessed .

@doolie50 Oh, thanks for sharing this. I have seen her many times when she is on stage, but it is still at a distance, and with all the colored lights in a dark room, who can tell? She must be breathtakingly beautiful. Plus her unique "aura" must be extremely stunning.

I too have seen her many times in concert, most recently in Holland playing to 30,000 people each night on 16 and 17 October2009.

She is still absolutely incredible, and a true superstar.

As for seeing her close up, her "aura" is really quite disturbing when you have been a lifelong fan because she is just so extraordinary

@konumers I am embarrassed that until this year I was one of those misinformed individuals. She is amazing as shown in this song &arrangement. I am so grateful to YT so that I could learn the truth. She is phenomenal and so unique. She really is incomparable.I always thought she was a better actress than singer. I am wrong.She is so talented on so many levels,even on a personal level. She has 5 kids that adore her. Success is nothing without someone to share it with. She is so classy, she rocks!
