  • thank you very much..I know this composer but didn't knew this was from him..nice to learn

  • Krazzy12U nice.. you didn't even mention the composer's name.

  • Beautiful music, who wrote it?

  • @mamycamion Aram Khachaturian.

Danke! Thanks a lot!

But Sorry, I don't speak English.

  • I remember this recording from a 70s TV themes LP in Australia. I've tried to remember its title, the orchestra or conductor, but I can't, other than it was Australian and it had a high profile entertainment conductor of the time. It had a white cover with a montage of drawings of scenes from various shows. I do remember some of the TV themes, which included Division 4, Hawaii Five-O, Owen MD, Matlock Police, Homicide and Farewell Aunty Jack. If I can remember any other details I will post again

  • @servros Just to set the facts straight, I recorded this piece direct from an album I had in possession since working at 4ZZZFm from their record library, the cover is blue and red and is titled 'Favorite T.V. Themes' with tracks: The Onedin Line (khatchaturin/Arr.N.Warren - Eros Music)

And: Bonanza, On the Buses, Doctor at large, Big Match, This is your Life, Owen M.D. Paul Temple, Please Sir, Match of the day The Fenn St. Gang, The Persuaders. Recorded by EMS industries Adelaide Aus.

  • @Krazzy12U Well, I'm sorry I irritated you; clearly my memory didn't serve me well enough while you had the benefit of still having your album to refer to; I don't have mine anymore but I recognize it from your description. I must have mixed up some of the details with other TV theme albums I had at the time.

  • @servros Don't worry, you didn't irritate me at all, just prompted me to refer back to that record. If anything it's inspired me to play the vinyl again that's been sitting in my garage!

  • @servros GEOFF LOVE AND HIS ORCHESTRA PLAY YOUR TOP TV THEMES

  • HEAVEN!!!!!!

  • Wonderful post !

  • This is the fantastic version I remember, much better than the other versions.

  • I think this is the most beautiful piece of music ever chosen as a theme for a tv series...:)

  • I remember me I loved this films

  • nagyon szép:)

  • This is no rare version at all .... in fact, this is a performance of the original piece, which is in fact only a part (the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia) of the Spartacus Suite by the famous Armenian composer Aram Khatchaturian. The music used in the TV series is only a very poor transcription of it. Indeed, this is very beautiful and nearly magical music. And in fact, Khatchaturian wrote more pieces like this.... some of them are also to be found on YouTube.

  • Well thanks for that info PBZ, that solves the mystery of this piece for me...I suppose 'Eros music' is a synonym for his (Aram's) orchestra as well? because that is all I had to go on from the compilation album it was on. K

  • Haunting piece....love it what magic!!

    Thank you!

  • Beautiful version (does not sound like B grade). Thanks for posting!

  • Omgosh this is amazing. First time I hear this version ! I love it !

  • Iv'e got to say - many people are discovering this rare ochestral version of the Onedin line as a pleasent alternative to the original theme yes? I discovered this track on an old B grade theme track record bought in the 70s and all it says about the performers are "Eros music" - anyone know the origins or history of this group? - K

  • All Episodes or all 8 Seasons of ca. 90 parts of the british series are meanwhile available on DVD-Boxes - in best quality. Where no TV-station re-runs old good Drama-series, so everyone can buy or lend his favorite-series !

  • I love this music. Having recently discovered youtube, which I think is great, I am really depressed the videos of The Onedin line have been removed. Is there anyone else ab;e to help please???

  • you can buy the stuff on e-bay or amazon

  • @richgiljan All the episodes are on You Tube now. Go for it and enjoy!!
