yeah true at first i was upset about the lack of flash but that has been taken care of, but flash enable browsers like iswifter and I think apple will go down that route.they won't put flash on the IOS devices, but they won't block web browser apps that are willing to stream the flash content from their server to a IOS friendly format...Overall I order an Ipad 2 at this moment they have all the apps and services I use.

Summary? Ipad=no camera, webcam, physical ethernet, usb or firewire ports. Most Netbooks from newegg or walmart=$300 bucks total. spend another 100 bucks for 60 gig ssd, spend exactly 100 at newegg for win 7, and i HAVE MORE things than ipad only a full 16:9 ratio, actual realistic typing keyboard, 2 usb ports, a physical ethernet port, a built in webcam ( although probably crappy), wireless g or n ethernet adapter, about the same battery life time as ipad. Common sense=option 2.
OH almost forgot. NO FIREWIRE 400 or 800 ports either. PLenty of people out there HAVE camcorders that they might consider putting pics and vids on the ipad with but unless the camcorder magically can wirelessly connect to the ipad itself or the camcorder can connect to the usb port on your wireless router and transfer the stuff that way? There is Pandora, internet radio, and multiple video streaming apps. Don't forget that Safari supports HTML5 which can do all the above and more.
You can, but it's much harder. It involves torrenting it then most likely having to change the file type to be compatible with the iPad or iPhone. I have an iPod touch, so I know what you can do. If I could stream Flash videos and websites on my iPod, that would rock, but it's not possible.
I love Pandora, but like most people, the commercials are annoying. Also, you can't PICK which song will be next. HTML 5 is cool and all, but it's in its infancy. MOST of the internet is Flash
@ediblehearts It is pretty simple, actually. Obtain the file then use Handbreak to re-encode it for your device. There are tons of apps for video and audio streaming. You don't need flash for that. As for flash games, do you really care if you can play Farmville on the iPad?
I have no ideal what commercials you are talking about. I've listened to Pandora for hours without hearing one commercial. If you want to pick songs, use MP3s.
@ediblehearts The iPad, iPod, and iPhone also supports video files within Safari. Meaning, you can still get streaming video if the website host a copy that is in a compatible format. A lot of sites do this too. It requires no HTML5 and can even do streaming aduio if you'd like.
It's not just about video. Its about games and entire websites that are Flash based. Flash allows for a lot of creativity for people who create indie games or interactive websites.

@oxjr: the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch OS includes a YouTube app and all YT content is made accessible through it (linked from or embedded in other sites). It's not a perfect solution but it does work.

@vlptr the ipad is crap, and the tablet concept in general is not good, it just doesnt work. Too small and slow to be a PC, too big to use it as a phone.
The only useful thing that i found for it (and i tried it btw) is when your going to bed to do some stuff there but thats pretty much unnecessary and a waste of money

Summary? Ipad=no camera, webcam, physical ethernet, usb or firewire ports. Most Netbooks from newegg or walmart=$300 bucks total. spend another 100 bucks for 60 gig ssd, spend exactly 100 at newegg for win 7, and i HAVE MORE things than ipad only a full 16:9 ratio, actual realistic typing keyboard, 2 usb ports, a physical ethernet port, a built in webcam ( although probably crappy), wireless g or n ethernet adapter, about the same battery life time as ipad. Common sense=option 2.

OH almost forgot. NO FIREWIRE 400 or 800 ports either. PLenty of people out there HAVE camcorders that they might consider putting pics and vids on the ipad with but unless the camcorder magically can wirelessly connect to the ipad itself or the camcorder can connect to the usb port on your wireless router and transfer the stuff that way? I dont care if it's the generation where the public feels is mandatory to have two or more computers in a home and that should be enough as backup to connect to internet. If i'm going to pay 500 bucks for something. There is Pandora, internet radio, and multiple video streaming apps. Don't forget that Safari supports HTML5 which can do all the above and more.

You can, but it's much harder. It involves torrenting it then most likely having to change the file type to be compatible with the iPad or iPhone. I have an iPod touch, so I know what you can do. If I could stream Flash videos and websites on my iPod, that would rock, but it's not possible.
I love Pandora, but like most people, the commercials are annoying. Also, you can't PICK which song will be next. HTML 5 is cool and all, but it's in its infancy. MOST of the internet is Flash

@ediblehearts It is pretty simple, actually. Obtain the file then use Handbreak to re-encode it for your device. There are tons of apps for video and audio streaming. You don't need flash for that. As for flash games, do you really care if you can play Farmville on the iPad?
I have no ideal what commercials you are talking about. I've listened to Pandora for hours without hearing one commercial. If you want to pick songs, use MP3s.

@ediblehearts The iPad, iPod, and iPhone also supports video files within Safari. Meaning, you can still get streaming video if the website host a copy that is in a compatible format. A lot of sites do this too. It requires no HTML5 and can even do streaming aduio if you'd like.

@ediblehearts Holy crap! YouTube went crazy with my post. lol I use android and I have flash on my phone. Have you REALLY tried playing Flash games made for the PC on a phone? Native apps are better than flash games. HTML5 can do games too.
I'm not saying flash should die, but for mobile devices it is currently crap. Apple should allow it so every can see how useless it really is on mobile devices then we can all move on to the next non-issue issue.

apple is fooling ppl in the american market, i cant believe more than a million ipads are sold, with ppl knowing that it doesnt support flash, Steve jobs wants to get rich and without sharing his wealth to the Adobe.

the reason it was taken out was because adding flash would cut the battery life in half.

so basically ur saying even though my incredible with a 1400mah battery can support flash for 7 hours but the massive cumbersome half inch thick ipad cant put a more powerful battery in? apple sucks. it was cheaper than signing a contract with adobe. that was the problem. try to download the flash player on urs and see what it says.

@jcudal32 That is a blatant lie. Whether or not I'm running Flash doesn't matter on my laptop, the battery runs out the same either way. The iPad is no different.

@oxjr: the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch OS includes a YouTube app and all YT content is made accessible through it (linked from or embedded in other sites). It's not a perfect solution but it does work.
