Just done one recently with my Hornby Thomas and Lenz dcc at same time. We found the funnel too small to accomodate the smoke generator so gut funnel off and then glued the top bit of the funnel on, paint in matt black and doesn't look any different........
tell me how did you manage to make it puff smoke rather than have a continoues stream?????????????????
6. Cut the tip of the eye mechanism and glue the eyes into it. Make sure they are straight and glue this back into the boiler. Mess with it till the eyes look right.
7. Push the smoke generator through the hole you drilled where the smokestack was
8. Wire the smoke generator in parallel with the motor.
WOW!!!! Smokin' Thomas looks smokin' hot. I have never seen a miniature train with smoke before. Thanks for this new experience -- very exciting. You've captured the smoke really well, have set the video to wonderful music, and it all sounds very technologically complicated. Look forward to seeing more videos from you guys . . . .you're a great train and video making team. Bravo!

9. You will also have to trim the motor casing when fitting it back into the boiler to fit around the generator.

Roughly here is what it takes to do it:
1. Get a Seuthe #22 smoke generator from ebay or trainstore
2. Get a Bachmann Thomas and disassemble using supplied instructions.
3. Carefully cut off the funnel at the boiler and drill a 4.5mm hole where the funnel was.
5. Cut off the eye mechanism so the front of the boiler is empty.
