Planetary steering makes the TD24 a GREAT mud tractor, because you can turn while maintaining power to both tracks. Had to rescue a buried dragline that was sunk to the top of the tracks, cut a trench to tow it out, and the older dozer oper. insisted on a 24 to clear the mud to tow it out.
This was the earthmoving device of choice for Morisson Knudsen, the major contractor for the construction of the power house at Kemano and power line over Kildala pass to service the Aluminum smelter at Kitimat in the early '50s.
