I've been studying the shroud for years. I'm sure shroud supporters have some kind of response, but I have not run across it yet. If I were a shroud suppoter, I think I would say that the shroud would have fit more loosely than in this demonstration. So really you only have points of contact on the higher surfaces, such as the nose and cheekbones. So really you would only have a slight distotion. But this is the reason you have to use a bas-relief to get a realistic face image on a shroud.
What's interesting is that all of this confident presentation, emotive exposition never actually delivers the factual conclusion, which is, respectfully, ignorance. I love what looks to be an homage to early Robin Williams with the rainbow suspenders...But at what point to skeptics put down the pretense of knowing everything that comes along as mysterious? If the BEST scientists can't reproduce or reverse engineer the process, why not simply and honestly say: "We don't know."
You should probably have used a colored substance on Richard's face, or black paper/cloth. But other than that, very nice. I hadn't thought of the 2D-->3D projection before with the Shroud of Turin.
Cool experiment, but it might have been better if you'd used chocolate pudding so that it would show up better on the light cloth and tissue paper. Just a suggestion for anyone wanting to repeat it.
Since they said the shroud was produced from radiation (Apparently jesus went nuclear?) , I think everyone could agree that jesus, as well as religion, is very much a WMD.
Cool experiment and a very good point about the 'spreading out' result when going from 3D to 2D.
A while ago I was reading the Flat Earth Society website where they think, aparantly, the Earth is shaped like a pizza, the North Pole is in the middle, and there's a boarder of ice around the edge which is the South Pole. The main basis if their claim was that Antarctica is "Unexplored", which I found paticularly amusing because in Geography textbooks in Australian highschools, not only is Antarctica explored, it even has political boarders.
Now, see, there's your problem right there. You call someone a "Bigot" just because they think the world is round. If that's not an Ad Hominem I don't know what is. And you completely ignored what I said about Antarctica.

Let's not exclude the possibility that it is a depiction of a really weird face.
