Robinhood was more about Archery, the quest for the grail, and the betrayal of King John. This looks like a sequel to Gladiator. I hope its just the trailer that is misleading. Because if you followed the true book, Locksley's militia were too scarce and too poor to have formed cavalry. It looks good for a movie , but not for a Robinhood.

I count myself among the biggest fans of "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," but I enjoyed the 1930s one just the same, not to mention the Disney animation and the Mel Brooks parody. Never been a big fan of Russel Crowe, but Ridley Scott makes good movies, it'll be neat to see what he does with the character/story. I think Kevin Reynolds & co. nailed it in the '90s, but there's always room for more.

The trailer is deliberately very short so as to give little away. You can't put such a wonderful Director and a superb ward winners Actors like Crow and Blanchett together and expect to see an ordinary film. And then I saw those shots in American Gangster with modern cars going by in the distance (within close proximity).

A lot of that has to do with stubborn traditionalist film directors either not using digital, or refusing large monitors so basically relying on tiny monitors and viewfinders, so details get missed...and it shows up on the big screen. Even in dailies if they caught it, it's a period piece, so they can;t just reshoot.

If that's the case, i'm sure they will fix that in post; kind of hard 'not' to miss a detail like that. Or, like i said, it's something historically based - even if it's roughly based - on like whale blubber or leather. Actually i'm certain it's a material, as there is an emphasis on leather shields throughout the trailer. And even if was made to look like wood/metal, there's no reason to use "rubber" shields as a prop when a material like plywood is cheaper and easier to work with.
