@TzeffNL TrackIR is nothing special and I think its a bit of a scam. really its just a webcam, 6 infra red LEDs and an IR filter then a few plastic reflectors. Other softwares can do everything TrackIR can do with a quarter of the cost. i was going to buy just the Proclip 35 US thats decent. But $75 postage? wtf I have bought other things from america for less then that postage.

@TzeffNL Easy I am making one right now. Go on Ebay and look for a webcam with night vision. It will have 4-6 IR LEDs like the one I have. At $20 AU its a steal. Now go to your nearest camera house or photo place and ask for some scrap exposed negatives. Get 3 layers and place them over the lens. Get some reflectors and. There you have a TrackIR for $30. Yes, TzeffNL its nothing special.

Trackir is the best 150 bucks a il-2 flyer can spend. It instantly makes you 3 times better in a dogfight (if not more)

Is TrackIR worth the money?

I know about FreeTrack, but its reliability is low, it is really fiddily to make work, and its resolution is lower.

FreeTrack, if set up properly can be just as good as Track IR, and if you dont want to make the headset, buy a Track Clip PRO and use that instead.

this is il -2 sturmovik 1946. You should buy il 2 sturmovik 1946, as it contains all the il 2 content + pacific fighters. all for $10 dollars

You need to actually buy Track IR. It's a peripheral for your pc that tracks your head movement.

Once you've gotten track IR you need to get the aaa mod.

Yeah I own it, I use it for Black Shark, ARMA II etc...I was curious because the one link I had to download this 6DOF detected a virus so never bothered to follow through.

Great game though, tracker IR is definitely a great experience!

There was some issues with people using AVG where it was falsely detecting a virus on heuristic scanning. I wouldn't worry about it. There's tons of people using that exact same file.

yeah, I like WWII dogfights the best..Modern day Dogfights are kinda boring imo..you just lock the guy up fire a rocket and move on...no real manvering no kewl fun jinks and turns just a quick missle shot and its ovah lolz

I agree. WWII dogfights are the most interesting. Planes stall easily, can take damage and still carry on the fight, use weapons that require you to actually aim, and the aircraft are much more diverse.

I might disappoint you a little but in modern dogfights maneuvers are really important to reduce radar signature and to evade missiles. Not to mention that in order to lock on and fire on the target a lot of preparations are needed. Try out Lock on and Black Shark. Both are really complex, and although i favorise WWII dogfights myself, Lock on and Black Shark are far complex.

Almost. According to the Naturalpoint site, ArmA (and ArmA II) support 4 Degrees Of Freedom (Yaw, Pitch, X, Z), while Il2 supports 2DOF (only yaw (look up/d and pitch (look left/r)). This mod apparently adds some DOFs to the stock game; you can clearly see the 'roll, Y and Z movements. I suppose the X too, so that would make it truely 6DOF.

Yak is not so maneuverable. Spit, La5 and 7 and even P40 can out-turn it!

If someone find them too much maneuverable, it's probably because the pilot isn't tired after getting high G.

Bf109 is very good. Guys who says it's bad in the game just dont know how to use it. I reconize you need a very good skill to fly correctly the K4.

DOF stands for Degrees of Freedom. These 6 degrees of freedom are yaw, pitch, roll, x, y, and z translation.

The same as TrackIR.

It works really great, and without Freetrack or something like that you could never fly in 6DOF

Russian planes such as the Yak planes are very maneuverable. Everyone picks the Spitfire or the La or the Bf-109. Because they are just as good.

Bf109 is a mess, cannot compete not even the K model. Spitfire 25lbs can do the trick agaist LaGs, but but I had great successes with P39s against LaGs :)

yeah man did you use windows movie maker for this? anyway.....if you did, then when you save your video as a movie file before you upload to Youtube.....change the save quality. i think the one i used was "high quality video (large). check out my P51 stunts to see the quality.

First of all, its not a "paint job". Its a SKIN that covers the virtual plane. Secondly, to be historically accurate.. No IL2 from 1939 to 1945 would have been "painted" or SKINNED with German markings like the Black Cross on the wings.
