This was a poor attempt to ape Jaws and would have made a good MST3K contender right? now this is a film that needs a remake badly and make it better paced, more hotter chicks, decent actors, more of the monster shown as it was barely in this movie until the last finale which ripped Jaws's climax, a more convincing monster than a sea cucumber, more fun and nudity included to make it as cool as Piranha 3D.

A giant Sea Cucumber? That's the only thing I can think of. I recently rewatched this, and while I agree the movie is dated, slow, and a little boring, it also is a cool idea...and the movie does have good moments. It does.

Don't get me wrong, it still is bad, but it's still pretty good fun, and this movie really, really should be remade. The idea is great, and in the tradition of Piranha 3D(which I didn't like) a new Blood Beach could be an exploitive, violent, fun piece of cinema trash.

Remember seeing this on TV as a kid. Thought it was pretty creepy then. It is still campy fun, but why does it look so misty? I realise it's in need of restoration, but the picture has cloudy, out-of-focus corners and whenever there's a night scene, the bright lights are extremely over-exposed. The director may have intended this to add atmosphere, but added to the grainy age of the film stock, it really dates the movie even more than it is.

The narrator is Burt Young who plays Royko...a detective from Chicago. The monster is a worm not too far removed from the creatures in TREMORS which was made 9 years later.

The flick is super boring, but I remember staying up late at night to watch it on TV, back when TV stations would show this kind of thing at 2 a.m. Also, the poster art and video sleeve were quite memorable.

As far as I remember it was a kind of man-eating plant grown under the basement of an unused hotel, eating its way and feeding itself underneath the beach.
