I was lucky enough to see Sakamoto play solo in San Francisco at the end of the PLAYING THE PIANO / OUT OF NOISE tour, and must say it was probably the most sublime concert I have ever seen, and I've seen some pretty fine ones .This man is right up there in the highest caliber of musicians of this genre composing and performing today, and is right there with David Sylvian at the top of my ''short list''of best of the best.
A beautiful piece. It is much more Bolerish than Gymnopaedish to me. For one, this is a waltz with two (important) transitional upbeats. The melody twists and turns like the original Bolero; a nice variation.
...Sakamoto is really unbelievable. His musical inspiration is amazing and his piano touch is soft and with style, the essence that God gives to some selected hearts who are blessed...
Was fortunate enough to be 2nd row on Ryuichi's last tour in London. The audience were mostly Japanese and it was probably the most respecful attendance I've seen at a concert. We even had a 6 year old girl behind us who didn't make a sound throughout the whole show (except to applaud). Met him afterwards too, lovely bloke. A true talent
@sowhat63 I agree! This song has the theme of Bolero, but the style of Gymnopedie! haha! But in seems like his recent songs are all somewhat almost inspired by Erik Satie and minimalist.
this by far beats flur de lune to me. it just is too beautiful to me. makes me wanna cry every time i listen to it. it also is one of the main reasons why i kept watching Femme Fatale, although its a 5* movie to me. this piece along with his original Bolerish is just too beautiful to describe.

Satie in the air.... Gymnopedie-like.. Impressionism-mannerism of the ARTIST...
i would love Monet blended with this gem...
and, btw, bolero has its own pulse and rhythm... name it whatsoever, this is divine music, flows right to my veins....
