Orangutans are our closets relative, and their endangered, thats so sad, i mean, they can be just like humans sometimes, and they can be very cool animals, people are treating them as pets, and thats not right, they belong in the wild
man destroys so much beauty.... i really hope we can put these gorgeous animals that can't speak for themselves first, before the mighty dollar. they are priceless!
Orangutans are so gentle and intelligent. So I am pleased to see various organizations joining in the effort to save this endagered species and to see that a lot of people are watching these videos.
Sometimes I worry that mankind is the dumbest animal to walk the earth. We seem to destroy everything as we go along. But then I look to the people on this rescue team and I feel there is hope for us yet.
you're absolutely right sorry not to fight bout religion but it's written on holy book that we're human destroying this world and we're stupid cause we don't use our brains and knowledge to save the world
there's still hope if we ban palm oil and sign petition to Indonesia, Malaysisa and EU governments to stop deforestration and supporting these smart kind people with heart :) and also start from our selves to consume palm oil free products
that is so true, you couldnt put it in any better way, thanks for pointing that out to people. i wish mankind would not be so selfish, it will come back to haunt us one day
Hunters kill the babies parents for food or money. The babies are left behind or kept as a pet to people who don't take care of them so they are rescued and taken to conservation sanctuaries.
The mother's have been dying primarily because of loss of habitat in Indonesia for palm kernel oil plantations. If you want to help, write a letter to any food company that uses palm kernel oil in it's products and ask them to switch to a more eco friendly alternative.
Hi I would love to be a surrogate mother to an endanger baby. How can I do this Please dont let this speices die like the polor bear is being close to extintence
I already adopted Beda, a baby orangutan at Nyaru Menteng, they need our help, they are all orphans, their mothers were killed, their forest home has been destroyed because the palm oil industry.
i'm crying watching this video message, when i was 11 y.o i had baby orangutan got from my aunt as a pet in Sumatra but as a young boy i didn't know keeping them as a pet is illegal, then we moved to the capital city of sumatra and one night i was holding him and suddenly he got high fever and died in my arm i can't forgive my self kept him as a pet and now as a grown up human i learned to respect them by protecting theis lives from human treath
Whe Have to be thankfull whit all the caretakers that work to save the orangutans and all the endangered spicie. It so sad to see how we that supose to be civilized, can be less than that destroing thier habitat, and kill a mother and let the baby like in this video holding his mother, I always ask my self. Are we realy humans or are we less that animals than them. Can some one awnser me this? Please let all of us be part of the solution, before is to late. Thank you

I know, It makes me sick to have to hear about what happens to them. I think they are precious, intelligent creatures that need help! I am going to send a donation there I really hope I can go to Borneo to help someday! And i dont use shampoo that has palm oil in it. I use organic products, and palm oil is actually really bad for you! Dont even eat food with palm oil in it! Or hydrogenated oil, and partially hydrogenated oil! They're so bad for your body its not even funny.
these are really heartfelt comments about these animals in dire need of help but i bet that only 1 in 4 of people who commented would actually do anything about it, most people would then get up and have a shower using shampoo that contains the thing threatening the orang-utans the most: palm oil.
I implore you to take action! Don't just sit that there and cry about cute animals getting hurt! Next year i am going to Borneo and i plan to do something to help these beautiful creatures!
In Borneo Urangutans also are kept as whores, cmpletely shaved, because they are cheaper than human women. Rich people buy young urangutan and hold them in small caches. They have to shoot 5 or more ape mothers to get on young which didnt die while falling down from the trees with their dead mothers. Are we really anything more than animals? The only thing instead of animals is, that WE can help weaker creatures. Sometimes i hate to be a human, if i could i would apologize by every creature...
It is an absolutely hideous business. I get sick to my stomach when I think about what these poor creatures have to go through. Take action, spread the word to save the orangutan.
orangutans are my favorite animals! they are so adorable! i want to kill anyone who hurts animals or orangutans!!!! i luv orangutans so much! : ( : ) <3
Uhh im such a girl. I cried so hard when i saw this too:(
I want to kill everyone who hurts these orangutans, i'd rather have them in the world than mean poachers and loggers. It's so great that they have Nyaru Menteng.
It's not surprising to me this goes on. Primate human is still very much an animal, more so than most people realize. It's inspiring to see humans working though to preserve the lives of other primates. Read the book "The Human Animal", it will give you some insight into why these things happen.
Raiderfan? I feel the same way..here in america when we buy a property we have a say whats going on with our neighbors etc..but i guess we have to blame them government over there..its all about money
If you want to help please donate to Orangutan Outreach like I did...it doesn't take much
:( this is so sad. When i get older and get lots of money i'm going to borneo to save them. Hopefully they wont be extinct by then. They BETTERNOT BE >:O there the most fascinating animals i've ever seen
This is an amazing video. It is so amazing that there are people like Lone (the woman who started the rehabilitation center on Borneo), it's not a easy job because there har so many different sides working against her. Her biggest problem is the lack of money to help save these amazing animals, you can help by adopting an orangutang. The center doesn't only help the orangutangs but also help the locals with jobs and orders.
There is probably a website for Nyaru Menteng somehwere, but you'd have to go to Borneo. it would be a beautiful place if there were less F*CKING PALM OIL PLANTATIONS AND PILES OF LOGS.
Moving indeed. Anyone can make a difference, just by not using anything containing palm oil or wood products from the SE Asian rainforests such as cheap plywood and dowels.
I think it's amazing to watch the connection humans really do have with the other species on our Earth. We all live here together, and we need to help as much as we can.
These relatives, beings, not animals are in some serious danger. They`re down to 50,000 now I think? Not all that long ago there where 6 plus million. I focus on wolves and Norht American wildlife but this has my attention. I did not realize how much danger they are in. What do we need to do?!?!
I know :( but keeping orangs as pets is one of the reasons they are disappearing. I've decided on devoting my life to saving orangutans, gorillas, etc. I can't believe we can call ourselves humans...
I worked on a construction site for the Atlanta Zoo; we were constructing the panda exhibit. I spent every lunch hour I could for the few days I was there watching the orangutans at lunch. This one male in particular would come as close as he could get and "play" with me. Sometimes we would just sit and enjoy each others company, I think...it was a very special time and I'll never forget it. I can't express the connection I had or why.
This is heartbreaking video, are we, the human race to be held accountable for the destruction of these beautiful creatures, please do something. Before it is too late.
I am afraid, though we may have much sympathy and no trouble in making donations, the reality is that WE are responsible for the plight of these creatures. What we see is the result of deforestation to pave the way for either hard-wood or, in the case, palm oil plantations. Palm oil is now used in all soaps and countless food products, and it is through our ignorance and blind desires that we allow greedy companies and people create what we see. ....
.... So our efforts would go further if we avoided buying products that fed the desire for palm oil or hard-wood. Next time you and I go to the shop and buy a bar of soap, we should remember that it contains palm oil, the production of which created these orphan orangutans. Sorry to be so blunt. ....
.... Many years ago, through a large boycott of buying tuna fish, the method for catching of which used to kill dolphins, people managed to put such pressure on that industry that it was forced to modify its practice and give us dolphin-friendly tuna fish. It is high time now for similar actions to deal with other issues such as what we see here. We have to learn to be less careless about where and how everything we use has been produced.
What a beautiful and heart wrenching video. I belong to AOP and have adopted a baby orangutan. It is very cheap and every one can do it. It all helps.
This is heart rending stuff! The Human Race has to take action now. They are carlessly and sometimes unwittingly adding to this catastrophic situation.
I am actively collecting for the Orangutang Foundation. Even a small donation is greatly appreciated. Never underestimate the power of 1. If we all do what we can to help the world would become a better place for these amazing apes.
These orangutans and the remarkable work featured here are part of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Please have a look at their website to learn more.
Donate now and save these beautiful creatures. Each baby represents a slaughtered mother - the only way a baby can be taken from its mother is if she's dead...look at the vid "Nyaru Menteng Fun" and realize that each of those fluffy larrikins has seen its mother murdered/die in front of it. Go to BOS or AOP and give what you can. You can even "adopt" a baby. A little donation goes a very long way.
Gotta agree. Wish we could have this video run as worldwide infomercials to create a widespread awareness and understanding for our Orangutan cousins and their plight! We need to help BOS in working to save our Orangutan friends.
Im looking forward to meeting all the people on Wednesday who make the BOS foundation possible - please give to BOS its so important I shall write about it all and spread the word. Wonderful video.
Once again Peter, this has bought me to tears. Only a few months ago and within a matter of 17 days 30 orangutans rescued from palm oil. I was devestated and this movie only highlights those memories. Lone and her team are 100% dedicated and anyone who does not contribute to Nyaru Menteng, needs to look into it. Well done peter and hopefully you can film again soon. Jess...
This had me in floods of tears. It's absolutely tragic that the Indonesian government more or less stands back and lets this happen. Why do they let deforestation (legal and illegal) continue on such a devastating scale. They should be ashamed. It's equally tragic that the rehabilitation centres have to grub around for funds: the orphaned orangutans pour into such centres in their hundreds. Hundreds. Can you believe that? It's an international scandal.
COME ON EVERYBODY ! WATCHING THIS VIDEO MUST TOUCH YOU EMOTIONALLY ! NOW ACT AND HELP THE RESCUE- AND REHABILITATIONCENTRE NYARU MENTENG TO SAVE THE ORANG UTANS BEFORE THEY ARE WIPED OUT.
Look at your local WSPA site, they have a worldwide campaign now for Nyaru Menteng. Or look at the UK site of BOS: savetheorangutan (org uk)
Attend all of your relatives and friends on this video !
It has been my dream for many years to work at a orangutan rehabilitation centre such as Nyaru Menteng and this video has only increased my determination. This video literally made me cry, the treatment of these animals, these 'people of the forests', is just disgraceful. These orangutans are just like us, they deserve the opportunity to live in the forests that have been theirs for many more years than they have been ours. Keep up the awesome work BOS!
Lone Droscher and her team at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation's Nyaru Menteng Centre are saints. Sadly, this project (the largest primate rescue project in the world) is at risk of closing down due to lack of funding. Please help so that BOS can continue to save this magnificent species from extinction. Please donate to Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation--become a member, adopt an orangutan-Do something.
How can anyone deny we are related to these creatures? So much like human babies. You can really see the caring in the eyes of the people there, too. Very touching.
I agree with redapes. This video can help raise money to give Nyaru Menteng the support they need in their endless struglle for the survival of these wonderful creatures. Everybody has to sent this to all their contacts so that more and more people see it and want to help. I will mail the link to all my email contacts and ask everybody to do the same.
WE HAVE TO HELP THE ORANGUTANS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE !
This is truly beautiful footage of some of Nyaru Menteng's tiniest residents. It really gives the viewer a good idea of what goes on there. Well done!
Less music and more interaction with the babies would be more effective. Music gets annoying. Just a thought.

Please choose to do the right thing. x

Felicity.

Try in some way to raise money and donate. Go to Google and type in Orangutan and you will find several good organizations to donate to. Thanks.
