  • I'll never again purchase a drive that comes with a power adapter. It is simply rendered not portable.

  • Does anyone know if its a Standard 1tb Hard drive inside? And can use in another enclosure?

  • @Xplaya187 Just got one today and took out the drive. It's your standard seagate 7200.12 drive inside. I actually put a 160gb WD drive back into the enclosure and it works.

  • Plus free delivery included ^_^

  • Wow, its on special @ Dick Smith for $79. Still deciding if i should get one or not ;o

  • EDIT: Now, my Seagate Expansion hard drive is half full, it works great!

  • what is the voltage for the power supply?

  • I don't know people are saying...my Seagate Expansion 1TB drive works great. It is 800GB full, and I have never experienced any problems. Is it quicker than my old Seagate FreeAgent 500GB External.

  • well all i can say is i have had mine 2 years and never had a problem, just fat32 to play on ps3 and away you go,so rubbish it is not.

  • Lost 500GB of stuff trying to figure out a way to get it to work 1 more time to get my data

  • whats the starting song?

  • What was the hole on the back of the hard drive? beside power and usb?

  • nice accent :)

  • My biggest problem with this hard drive is the power management system. It's CONSTANTLY putting the damn thing to sleep and sometimes it takes it's sweet fucking time waking up. It's especially annoying when i'm trying to power down my computer and then I have to wait a 3-5 minutes until it decides to wake up. Luckily other than that i haven't had any problems.

  • I've had this drive for 2 weeks and it's started the weird clicking and it freezes sometimes when trying to access it, I've read up on it and it sounds like it might be a piece of junk....Does anybody know of a good cheap HD to get? Something of similar size and cost, cuz I wanna transfer all my stuff to a new one and take this back, Msg me or reply if you have any suggestions, thanks...

  • I just bought one today, obviously reading old reviews and i can't make it work! -_- any help would be appreciated otherwise I'm going back to yell at officeworks!! Plug-and-play my foot!

  • whats the CLICK OF DEATH???? XD

  • yep mine now has the click of death, transferred shit out just in time....8months of glorious use, fuck u seagate

  • has it failed yet?

  • @Pr0mguy No, it is actually working fine!

  • @psivewri thanks for the feedback

  • @psivewri so u can recommend it now? im thinking of buying one. but i guess the glossy surface catches lots of dust and fingerprints.

  • @AMuslimKnight well, no. There are cheaper, fast and more reliable portable hard drives out there.

  • @psivewri as it failed yet??? (I want to get a ext HD but there are lots of bad reviews on the net about this particular one.)

  • @asmoses12 No, it has not failed, yet. There is no reason to buy it though because there are other external 1tb drives that are cheaper and more reliable. Any buy now you can get 2tb drives for $129!

  • @Pr0mguy i have had mine for like 1 and a half year now, i just yesterday my sister pulled a little to hard in the cable that goes from the computer to the hard drive, and now it's broke -_-

i have had a few isues with it making some loud clicking sounds and when it did so it freezed but that stopped after a few seconds again.

but even though it has these isues i would recomend it, it's a good hard drive and it workes fine :)

  • what mean 7200 prm?

    480MB/s?

  • is Western Digital any good? they're pretty cheap and has good

  • @Xezatt Yes, my western digital has been going good, plus it cost much less than the Seagate!

  • Don't buy this crap!! Bought 2. 1 died 3 days after. The other within the first month! click of death!!!

  • Buy yourself a Buffalo 1TB external. Extremely reliable and very cheap nowadays :)

  • Has it failed yet? change the cable I heard it makes it better

  • @psyjunta I heard its the cable they provide! If you change the USB cable it stops for ever! try it & let me know because I'm thinking of buying one

  • Nice review!

  • @baddspella Sorry, I had been camping for a week before shooting this vid.

  • @psivewri lol man no need to be sorry :P

  • very honest video, thanks

  • DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I WASTED MY MONEY ON THIS DEIVE WHAT LASTED A MONTH UNTIL IT STARTED MAKING THE CLICK OF DEATH! AND AFTER READING REVIEWS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE!!! DO YOURSELF AS FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRIVE

  • @xzane86 true, you can get a better quality on for much less now,

  • @xzane86 I heard its the cable they provide! If you change the USB cable it stops for ever! try it & let me know

  • @xzane86 its called a warranty

  • @Hayesy15 its called precious data you don't want to lose its also called knowing what your talking about before you comment

  • @xzane86

    dude/dudet u said u wasted ur money

well u only wasted it if u didnt send it back

so is u did send it back nd get a refund u wouldn't have wasted an money

i agree with u about the whole data thingy

    but still

  • @Hayesy15 warranty's and refunds are a different thing and most stores dont do refunds after a month of purchase

  • @xzane86 yea but with the warranty u can get a refund

all electrical products have a years warranty on them but default

unless u get it off ebay or somehting

  • @xzane86 i think you mean a small amount of people its more likely youll get bit by a shark plus they got 1 year warranty so just send it back and they send you a brand new one ~_~

  • @xzane86 well now you can buy a 2tb portable drive for nearly the same price

  • @psivewri All External HDDs break down fast. It's because of the external power, when you turn it on it spikes energy. It's why I switched to USB powered drives. Never had problems with those (yet). If hardware is buggy it will break down within 3 months, if it shows no signs of problems it will remain fine. It's like that with ALL electronic devices. I have had numerous different brand HDDs go bad on me, internal or external. All have been replaced and all broke down within weeks.

  • do you think i should get it its £69 in the uk

  • @smexable well, if there is one for a similar price i would go for the other one, because many of these seagate expansion are faulty

  • has it failed yet

  • @nwil91198 no, I think i was lucky & got one without any faults

  • thanks for the vid.

ive read a lot of bad reviews about the clicking problem and eventual crashing of this item, is it worth buying one for a low price (GBP64.00).

Have they fixed the problem or not?

  • Warning do note get the 1.5 tb it does a very loud click lots of complaints of it.

  • @aldohodgkinson thanks for the heads up!

  • Everything is good ,,, but i still confused if it is USB suppported why the power adapter is given .. so does it require power cable plugin as well while usage...

  • just bought it for $100AUD cos they are competing with WD and their elements 1 TB

  • Just bought this today hope to have the same results as you. I pray for none of that "clicking" or other problems for at least a year while using this thing.

  • This drive exhibits constant 'clicking when being written to or read from. Stay away!!!

Hope you had more luck with yours.

  • what i meant was can u use it on a mac by taking the setup software off

  • Yup, just format the drive before you use it, that way it gets rid of all the preloaded software and hidden files

  • Can you use it on a mac by just taking setup software on it

  • Thanks for the awesome review - I ended up getting one!

Can I ask favour - I deleted the files that came on the drive, since it didn't need any setup, but one of them was the cool icon that used to show in My Computer. Could you upload yours to rapidshare or something (whatever file is referenced from autorun.inf on the disk)? Cheers!

  • well, I deleted the files that came on the drive as well lol.

  • lol oh well cheers anyway :-)

  • i got a 500 gb hdd but it says 489 gb i think and i used 100 gb 0.o all i got is songs games and soon im going to install it in to my pc so the transfer rate is not so slow

  • i got it for 200NZ dollars

  • I got the same one today .. I just wonder why it has only 930 gb instead of 1000gb when I connected on my computer???

  • because its the equivalent or near 1000gb, as well because there is so much space the partition takes up a lot of that space as well

  • @venukim it's because when companies advertise "1tb" they only mean 1000 gb. And the "marketing" description of gb is 1,000,000,000 bytes.

However in "reality" 1tb is actually 1024 gb. And 1gb is 1024 mb. and 1mb is 1024 kb. and 1 kb is 1024 bytes.

Now let's do the math. The "advertised" 1tb = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Now let's convert this to how the computer actually interprets this space. 1,000,000,000,000 / (1024*1024*1024) = 931.322574615 gb.
