You can hear the bass in all forms of music if you know where and how to look for it. In my opinion you kind of notice the instrument you play more easily then the instrument you don't. I play bass and when I'm really listening to music I can hear and understand everything the bassist is doing. Next time you listen to this band on you ipod crank up the volume all the way and just listen to the low notes and see if you hear it then.

In my honest opinion, this band is awesome. I love their sound. But, i believe that what this guy is doing is totally unnecessary. I agree with most of the comments displayed here. And there is a difference between slap bass and just hitting and sliding random frets on a bass guitar. But overall, watching this fat dude play bass is just super freakin' hilarious. :)
