The shorter piece of this version was used for the Dutch television company VARA, back in the nineteen eighties. :-) That one also ended with a wonderfull sound effect, not included here.
OMG! I think I remember hearing this over thirty years ago as part of a laser-light show at the planetarium in my hometown...and ever since then, I've wondered who was responsible for such craaaaaaaaaazy music (although for some reason, i remember thinking that the sliding electronic swoops sounded like a cat's meow).
I used this piece for a puppet show I did for dramatic arts in high school! Actually, before the show, my buddy and I were smoking hash behind the puppet stage--in the classroom! I'm sure our teacher knew, but didn't care! I used to have all of Tomita's albums in LP, but now I'll have to get them in CD!
Wow - somebody remembers this! The whole Pictures at an exhibition album was superb. I used to play this track between hardrock tracks at school parties a bloody long time ago :)
Check out my fan website for details on Isao Tomita. It hasn't been updated in a while, but there's lots there: isaotomita . org
