@SnickleFritz79 - you should apply both legs simultaneously (you can see his left leg is "on" & behind the girth), move from the hips pushing your weight down & your back slightly back & your hands (in this case hand) will "resist" i.e. not "give" as when requiring forward action. When the horse was broken in he would have been taught to respond to these aids. One year the officer, who hadn't ridden since childhood, said his daughter had to show him to remind him!
I have a question and perhaps somebody can answer it. How did that guy with the furry hat make the horse go backwards like that without turning around?
@Curt1233brit German tv transmit it since more than 30 years. It's a copy of your BBC production with German comment and further information about the ceremonie.
@Curt1233brit Yes indeed, please consider that we haven't a monarchy after defeat in ww1 and i'm sure the royal wedding this year will create new records in viewing rate.
@thebritish25 The monarchy in Germany is generally regarded as extinct, but there are some monarchistic organizations without any significant role in the political spectrum. It's right, german basic law article 20 define Germany as federal republic and cannot be removed.
I'm wish our coverage was like yours. In the UK, we have some stupid guy talking a load of Bullsh*t (mostly the obvious) over the music so nobody can actually hear it, and who consider the music an appropriate time to play pre-recorded interviews. You seem to have presenters who actually understand people want to watch the parade and listen to the music.
No, not at all. But some parts of german nobility have special rights. For example: The head of the house of Hannover can "invite himself" to celebrations of the english royal family like the wedding of prince william, wihout having been invited by them.
@Curt1233brit maybe you'd find that Britain has got British troops stationed in Germany so they could be interested in watching Trooping the Colour as well.
@kingofclapham1 I know the Royal Signals have a detachment in Germany for their IT systems hardware, done allot of research into them as I wanted to be a signaller their satellite relay is in Cyprus too which I found remarkably interesting and their stationed basically when ever the troops on the field need IT system relays setting up the Signals are the ones who give to that aim.
Once the enemy knows about them being there they have to move around the countries allot. great regiment!
amazing that these boys, after having trained day in and day out for this parade, would be off the next day to aldershott to train for deployments to the middle east. These are true soldiers.
@1972Mitchell OK then, for your continuing education: Ceremony (noun), a rite: a formal act: the outward form, religious or other: an empty form without inwardness: pomp or state. From the Latin 'caerimonia' meaning 'sanctity'. By the way the meaning of 'pomp' (the root of 'pompous') is: a procession, great show or display: ceremony: ostentation: vain show: worldly vanity. Interestingly the word 'pompous' originally meant 'stately'. That's why all ceremonies are pompous, they're supposed to be
@1972Mitchell No, my point being that you were ignorant, but didn't know it, and know I have shown you the light. You said that a 'ceremony' was 'pompous', which is like going to a church and complaining that it is 'religious' . ...well of course it is. I have shown you that 'ceremony' and 'pomp' are inertwined, both in English and in Latin. Thus, I have educated you; be grateful my child - you are a better person thanks to me! Rejoice, rejoice
@chikubichan Oh dear, and my point is you're an ignoramus. Go google the two words and see how others have used it. Let the world educate you or go enjoy the video, it's less challenging.
@1972Mitchell if you think that this being pompous is a bad thing then kindly euthanise yourself, for your ability to lack that much knowledge really is dangerous.
@rangnear it was me, lost my password. now, i would like to know which part of any statements made by me suggest "pompous" a bad thing. please explain and if you people have nothing better to do other than picking up fights here, well be it. all i did was praised the parade and what's all these language things?

@UnitedProviences these regiments have been around for centuries. They aren't "elite" forces as such but they are the best of the infantry regiments. Although the Welsh Guards are the senior regiment, the Coldstream Guards are the oldest dating to the Battle of Coldstream in the mid 1600's
@8497289 The Welsh Guards are the most junior of the Guards Division, they were formed on St David's Day 1915. The Joke in the Guards Division was that the Welsh Guards were formed to pick up the 'empty shell cases' after the Somme Battle.
This is the slow march of the Irish Guards, entitled "Let Erin Remember," a traditional Irish tune without any definite composer (although this setting is quite grand). But it can also be played on the tin whistle! lol
Ooops, my bad! I just saw they were the Irish Guards doing a slow march and assumed it was "Let Erin Remember." In my defense, they sound a little similar. ;-)
Nowadays people of countries whose are poor of spirit, stupid and ignorants have been used old composers when the haven't any idea how to compose a knew music. England haven't lot of classical composers like Austrians, Germans, Italians or the French.
I am speaking of real music. Try to go Music School! Over there you can know where was all these composers and perhaps hear good music not these garbage that you have been hear in England at present!
@cristianevallim The fact that we use old composers for ceremonies like this has nothing to do with us not knowing anything about ''new music''. This ceremony goes back to the 17th century, why change the music for uneducated muppets like you? You hate the music, but no doubt search and watch videos like this.
Joseph Haydn was one of most important, prolific and prominent composers of the classical period. He is the Father of Symphony and Father of the String Quartet. He was also also instrumental in the development of piano trio and evolution of sonata form. He and Mozart organized the position of musician in orquestra and he composed 100 Syphonies. He was the teacher of Beethoven. He is the composer of national antern of Germany. Only student with knowledge can play his musics
