Hmmmm. I would have gone passive subs and powered tops. Personally I run 2 PRX 625 tops and 2 passive JRX 118s's with a 1400watt QSC GX5 amp. I use a BBE signal processor which helps the speakers perform to their peak potential because it includes an EQ and a crossover. If anything I would invest in a signal processor.
So between these two subs the EON is much better. You're dealing with one sub in the JRX that pushes out 350 Watts continuous and the JBL Eon that pushes 500 watts continous. I've used the JRX at some small lounges that had them in their setup when pumped up they can start to distort. The eon is a much better sounding, powerful and quality sub. Good luck.
Okay, here is what I think with the 2 choices I would go with the EON for $900 but I have used both. They will do a room of about 100 by 100 or less that is it. But that is just my opinion. What will you be doing with it mostly?
@skaterboy7311 If I were you I would not sell the Peavey keep it along with the JBL. Do you guys have a graphic equalizer, and if you do that can act as a crossover.
You should have 3 times as much sub power then your top end speakeres, and when hooking up a sub ina system, you can patch out of one of your tops and into the sub....even if its powered.
The EON 518 s is a really nice sub.its light weight, its powerful and it sounds verry nice ;) i use it since a year now and im really happy with it :)
