  • thanks for sharing this~ I was interested in these, and you showed me how easy they are to play. I am strumming along now! Ebay sells this kind of thing all the time- that's where I found mine. Wondering where I can get new strings for it.....

  • @TZ2OurLittleDogToo I would suggest autoharp strings. You will probably have to purchase an entire set, though.

  • @blueiis2 Thanks!

  • absolutely love this! hoping to get a similar instrument soon.

  • do you know where I can get number music for this song that will work for the same instrument?

  • Very happy to see how you strummed the chords. Haven't known how to do that so will attempt to duplicate your playing! Thank you so much for posting!

  • Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music that slides under the strings for one of these?

  • @purity4all I think you are thinking of a lap harp. I've not seen what you are talking about for a zither. Zithers are so many different sizes and types that the template you are talking about would be different for each model. If such a thing exists for the zither, I don't know about it. I wish I was more helpful!

  • @blueiis2 If you type this in to the youtube search bar: Stille Nacht - Akkordzither, This is what makes me wonder if I can get that type of sheet music for my zither. Mine looks more like the one you used in your video, but they are pretty similar.I suppose if I had to I could use number music, but I can't find anyone who sells it either. I bumped into an instructional on it somewhere last night and now I can't even find it.

  • I love this! I am in the process of buying one now, do you know the year of this one? It's the same maker, but looks a little different than mine. Mine is 1951 and has no handle.

  • @purity4all I believe this one was about 100 years old. I don't know much about it.

  • @blueiis2 I have no musical training at all and was hoping to find the cards that you slip under the strings, the ones that have dots that tell you where to pluck. Any idea of where i can get some?

  • I have one of these instruments

  • wow. sounds great.

  • Hi there well done for a first time player it has taken me years to master the play of this instrument yes they are a doosie to tune lucky the expexted chords are listed on the body of the instrument, that one there is an american zither and is probably about 80 years old they were popular around the time of washington phillips and son house and bluegrass music,i play a mushina austrian concert zither amazing instruments thousands of possible chords three times as many as elec guitar

  • @GaryBancroft Thank you so much for the information! Now I know!

  • Hi there, does anybody know where I can get strings for a zither in england?

  • In all my 50 years, this is the first time I have ever seen a zither played. I had no idea how they were played. Sounds very nice.

  • Well, I don't know if I'm playing it *correctly* but I got the job done. It was kind of fun playing around with it and trying to figure out how to do something with it!

  • Actually I don't really see that it would be played any differently though of course I can't say for sure. Anyhow, you did a very nice job, it sounds great.

  • nice

  • und ohne einlegenoten ganz gut gespielt.

ich spiele aber rechts mit dem zeigefinger

und fingernagel, da bin ich wendiger als mit dem daumen.

  • Very good. I'll bet it's a nightmare to keep that thing in tune! TR

  • The first time was a doosie (an hour???), but after that, it's not bad as long as you keep the temperature pretty stable.
