Whoa! I loved that! As a performance, but not as Elphaba. She makes it sound too easy (almost like Shoshana) and in my opinion, this song (the big showstopper, act one closing number and so on) is supposed to sound "difficult", as if she were breaking free from her old patterns. Plus, her voice is too dark (almost like Kerry Ellis, kill me youtubers =\ ), which doesn't fit a 17/18-ish year old girl who's going to college.

I'd bet 99% chance it is from a gay bar in New York called Splash. They have a broadway night once a week, and lots of people have sung there. It looks like Splash in the first photos. A liberal ex-Miss America? That's a first. Her voice has improved a lot.
I would LOVE for Kate to be Elphaba one day, though with Nicole Parker coming in to replace Marcie in January I think Broadway Wicked is in good hands until July 09, unless Nicole extends which she might very well do, who knows.

Yeah. It was when Kristin did her back in doing her 'flip, flip' in Popular (which was why they changed it to 'toss, toss') and Laura Bell flew off to, LA I think, to audition for Legally Blonde. Melissa Bell Chait (who was the u/s Glinda) had just had a stroke and was in hospital so Kristin had to go on in a sequined neck brace and on a serious vicodin high. Kristin talked about the whole vicodin thing on a talk show once.
I had heard rumors of a bad situation when LBB left Wicked but the Kristin on Vicondin wasn't Laura Bell's fault. They had 3 months to find an u/s and a standby. Kristin did that show because she thought she could with the help of medication. And that's part of the reason why she left the show in july of 2004.
I just got massive chills when she got to "So if you care to find me..."
Wow. She has amazing talent. I hope she does et to be Elphaba. That would make me happy because I've been itching for a reason to see Wicked again. This would be PERFECT!

i don't think so. i used to want her to be elphaba but not that i hear it, she really doesn't have elphaba's voice. Kate mixes all of her high parts till it sounds very thin and at times very shrill. eden and sho also mix alot, but their voices take to it much better the tones are alot more pleasant. that might be the reason she didn't cast

the first time i heard legally blonde (remix) i thought this woman would make an amazing elphaba, and now i'm pretty sure i was right. she's really amazing and i think it would only get better with her being able to really delve into the role. vote for kate! haha

Wouldn't that be awesome if Kate Shindle was Elphaba, and Laura Bell Bundy was Glinda? I think that would be so cool. Kate is too pretty to be painted green though. :)

i don't think so. i used to want her to be elphaba but not that i hear it, she really doesn't have elphaba's voice. Kate mixes all of her high parts till it sounds very thin and at times very shrill. eden and sho also mix alot, but their voices take to it much better the tones are alot more pleasant. that might be the reason she didn't cast

She is amazing!! but i heard she auditioned for the role before Legally Blonde and they turned her down... why they would do that I have no idea but that is what I have heard from quite a few places that usually know what they are talking about! maybe she should re-audition!
