    watch?v=F1joremddOk

  • this is a Turkish song. it was so popular at 80's

  • This song belongs to the Turks until 1980 song

  • If you listen carefully enough at 0:15 you can hear one of the audience say "FUCK YEAH"

  • Şiki şiki baba is song of Ferdi tayfur

  • This is one of the famous Ottoman empire era song. That's why all of the ottoman (for example beirut, anatolia, macedonian, romanian, bulgarian) states says this song is our's.

  • ok people listen the history of this song:

firstly it's turkish. the problem occurs name similarity of şiki şiki baba and uski uski baba. uski uski baba is traditional macedonian song and it's very famous for the macedonians. kocani mostly plays this one. they also play şiki şiki baba as well. but it's just a cover like the other covers. there's only a name similarity between these song. şiki şiki baba is a funny song that becomes famous after the old turkish comedy (70s) film; atla gel şaban.

  • luv 'em

  • This is awesome! What a feeling it must have been to be in the audience!

  • So, much of the sound you may associate with Bregovic comes from a different county...

  • And I am Serbian and I can tell you this is not our music...Not at all from any of the territories of former YU. It sounds Bulgarian, maybe Skopjani. it is most likely, indeed, Turkish. In respect to Bregovic -- while very, very talented, the man is one of the biggest plagiators of Balkan folk music. He often 'borrows" from Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian and even Greek melos. He admits as much, if you talk to him. He borrows, but improves it and makes it his own.

  • The fuck yea in the beginning goes well with it haha.

  • prezanimljivo jedem oblake da bi umro što prije!!!!

  • super song

  • songs belong to those who sing and dance :)

  • I am Turkish, yesthis song was popular back in the day, especially as soundtrack in some classics...I was just wondering though, why instead of apreciating the music and effort spent on it, trying to claim the song? When people are going to enjoy something with no strings attached....FU ALL!

  • onur i am greek. i did not claim the song for the greeks. its origins are slavic, this version is american (the band is from New Mexico), the lyrics you know are turkish. who said we are not enjoying it? it was a turk who tried to claim the song and that is not true. its origins are slavic. period. f back 2 u buddy!

  • good thing we all are in the same page...cheers bro:)

  • yeah, glad we are only talking... but give it sometime... nah, nothing will happen. it's a great song.

  • It's a Turkish song... Not bulgarian or romanian.

  • @deezinet It's Kocani Orchestra's song!!It's a Macedonian Romani brass band from Kočani, MACEDONIA!! Their music is based on Gypsy tunes from various parts of the Balkans and on Turkish rhythms, with a sprinkle of Latin flavour.

  • The version they're playing was popularized by the Kocani Orkestar out of modern day Macedon

  • accordions pwn you.bitches.

  • whats the serb version called??

i love this song!! it still goes off!

  • It is a gipsy song from Serbia. Listen the Bregovic. The same style.

  • It's actually Turkish. At least it's IN Turkish. I know Romani and that shit ain't Romani

  • @durlanski It`s not important if it`s Serbian, Macedonian or Bulgarian. Music has no nationality, but if you want to know this song was originally performed by The Kocani Orkestar. Kocani is in the Republic of Macedonia. So, this song doesn`t have any relations with Serbia. Don`t try to steal music as tried with Macedonian history!

  • @kocevk For music itself - it is not important. For some people - it is. Especially historians. Да си ми ти жив и здрав. Мани политику. И онако смо сви Срби ;)

  • It sounds quite like Goran Bregović. :) I don't think this is a drawback at all. Beirut rules! :P

  • Props to the Goran reference, I agree! Bregović is amazing live; I have yet to see Beirut or Kocani Orkestar, but I'm sure they'll be equally amazing.

  • Kind of reminds me of Markovic too, definitely worth a listen.

  • Zach Condon, and the Gulag Orkestar are brilliant. A chameleon of sorts. :)

  • yes,kocani orcestar from macedinia.

  • Haha, do you mean the Kocani Orkestar? They are the ones who play this song. The Gulag Orkestar is a Beirut album.

But, thanks for the video. It's a favorite.

  • No, this is not with the Kocani Orkestar. This was a makeshift group they put together for this show and they called it The Gulag Orkestar.

  • I realized that this is not the video that I thought it was right after I posted. I do believe there is one with the Kocani Orkestar though.

So, yeah, sorry, I feel like a dweeb.

  • oohhhh god I wish I could habe been there

  • the original form of song belongs to turkey,,written by turkish singer/writer Ümit Besen...

  • & durmuş çiğdem's version used in film of kemal sunal, named "atla gel şaban".

  • Such fun!

  • bellissimo

  • Wall of Voodoo meets David Byrne meets Tom Waits. Crazy.. and loving every second of it.

  • Mexican sound! :)

  • Sound of the Balkan :)

  • yeah, but our mexican "mariachi" sounds pretty like that...i know isn't the same, but...you know.

    =)

  • Both cool types of music started in the 1800s.

In the Ottoman army and in the Ranchos in Mexico. That's why they sound slightly similar. THe way the rhythm is played on the brass makes it sound more like a corrido than mariachi though.

  • AWESOME

  • Yeah pretty sure no one on that stage is Macedonian.

  • energetcznie :D

  • this is an old gypsy song from the balkans (and possibly other countries too, gypsy music doesn't recognize borders). i think there's a version by the legendary macedonian gypsy singer esma redzepova among others. the lead singer zac was greatly influenced by the balkanese gypsy music already as a teenager.

  • siki siki baba was a song that sang by the people in Turkey. it was (still) a very well song

  • it can be not turkish yes turkish singers sing this song but it hasn't any meaning in turkish. or it can be arabic song but i dont know arabic :)
