all work should be volunteered by individuals, but they should benefit, always...money is BS anyway, might as well give it to people who aren't on a salary, and are willing to help their own community...at least volunteers aren't on some bullshit commission, trying to fake people into buying expensive BS....

Taxpayers have to pay for everything. Roads, Utilities, everything under the government. The key is how the government uses the money.
I personally think tuition credit for community service is a phenomenal idea. It brings the people together, promotes harmony and understanding and solves some financial problems in one fell swoop.

Exactly. Think of it this way, it's no longer a "government givaway". hahahahahaha!! The government has been giving away free money for college for years. I think it's awesome to require community service. Makes you appreciate it more.

Isn't the whole point of Community service to "SACRIFICE" some of your time with out expecting anything in return, other than the personal fulfillment of helping your fellow man??

The "voluntary" in this case clearly does not refer to the compensation they are getting. The qualifier is there to clarify that doing the community service for credit plan is not *mandatory*. Students can choose not to do it if they want.
It's the same reason why Obama always emphasises that his universal healthcare plan is *not* mandatory. He's basically introducing federal competition to help lower prices of health insurance.
