  • Be honest, are you wearing pants?

  • I didn't think the ending changed pace entirely. The whole movie was an argument about whether alternative universes could be created (or exist), with Gyllenhaal on one side, Farmiga in the middle, and Wright on the other side (in favor of fate/determinism). The ending just "chose" sides. I like the idea of alternate universes and felt it was fascinating, despite not completely understanding it.

  • Yeah best movie iv seen in a long time loved the ending

  • Sounds like kinda like assassins creed

  • @mrkoolman23 thats what i thoght too

  • will there bi a source code sequel? (part two?) one when he goes back to recuperate his life?

  • will there bi a source code sequel? (part two?) one when he goes back to recuperate his life?

  • i like the ending, what type of ending is considered awesome??

  • @cambolsparrow keeping on the same path, like he said in the review. the ending completely changes pace and doesn't really fit with the mood of the movie. that last part where everything was frozen, yeah thats where it shouldve ended in my opinion

  • @ThoseWhoGame thanks for the explanation. I agree it was a completely turn around, but I guess it kinda gave me hope at the most hopeless moment, when I walked out from the theater, i felt my live is so good:). Another reason is that I like the concept of multiverse (multiple possible universes), which has been used in this movie. Source code functions like a path to another parallel universe, or simply creates a parallel universe. I like this idea so much as I kept thinking about this myself.

  • Original?.... are you serious theres heaps of films like this. Next, Premonition, Deja Vu..

  • @Stan844

i thought so too but see this movie i promise ya other wise it explores a lot of really good ideas

  • @hayward1991 haha yeh i wrote this before i saw the movie, GREAT movie!! its actually a mix of all the movies i mentioned haha :P

  • @Stan844 He meant original because it was taken directly from another source. He even said it was familiar at times.

  • In short, the prince of Persia must go back in time to find out why a train crashed.

  • It was a very good film and I quite liked the ending but it was the only slight weakness in an otherwise flawless movie.

  • I actually liked the ending

  • Why only one movie?

  • great fucking movie, people who tell you it was too complex or didnt get it are fucking retards, who dont understand the postulates of string theory

  • @TheZMan27 You mean geeks, nerds are good at school, geeks are videogames am i right?

  • I know this is probably irrelevant, but I saw Sucker Punch the other day. It was a major let down compared to all the great promises of the trailer. The only thing that saved this movie was the few epic battle scenes and the CGI.

    3/10

  • I saw Source Code today, and It looked like most of the clips you used were mirrored. Am I just going crazy?

    I'd give the movie a 9/10

  • Love. This. Show. So. Much.

    :D

  • Great job however I disagree with you on the ending. I wanted him to "live" on in the alternate reality so I was glad it ended that way.

  • THERE IS NO SOURCE CODING IN THIS MOVIE.

  • It kinda sucked. And original? He never saw Groundhog Day. And it isn't about timetravel, but quantum memory imprints ot some shit.

The guy is dead and his brain is in a casket, just so everybody knows.

  • It kinda sucked.

  • Thank you for reading people's comments :D

  • This is a really good channel, but I would watch more of this channel if Jonathan was a little more laidback. He's way too mannered and not very enthusiastic.

  • @123rockfan I'm too "mannered"? How would you prefer I conduct myself then?

  • @JPizzle1

I understand that alot of people love movie reviews that are professional and scripted, but I think movie reviews that are more personable and laid back (but insightful) are more enoyable. But to each their own.

  • @JPizzle1122 I know this is a bit late, but I'm doing a media project on online movie reviews, and the way I see it, the main audience who watches your videos is watching online as opposed to in a newspaper. So you're newscaster-ish style of delivery could leave viewers slightly more disinterested as they don't neccesarily want to read the newspaper or watch the news. No offence meant, just my two cents :)

  • @jonnykid555 - I don't understand what you're saying at all.

  • I'm just curious, how come all the footage you showed is mirrored?

  • @Boltingblade182 - Content-ID workaround. The full explanation is available in older episodes of Movie Night.

  • Like

  • am nt watching a movie with jake gyllenhaal in it, nt after brokeback mountain

  • Jon you should do a EMS/ First responder show sometime this summer. like reviewing the movie "Mother, Juggs, and Speed" and mabey a cop movie or a Firefighter movie, such as "Ladder 41" or Inferno. also futher note on super mario brothers. is that when they where filming the movie the only way the actors would have been able to work through a "ridiculous movie" was to Drink Heavely... thought you may find that funny. BTw i learned that on the NPR show Wait wait dont tell. and its accurate!

  • Super mario brothers decent movie worth watching only if you are a child or need a good laugh after a hard days night, simply a 4/10

  • JPMN: Diary of a Wimpy Kid:Rodrick Rules: HILARIOUS MOVIE! The theater was like a madhouse of laughter at one certain part. It was also good to see all the characters again. 10/10

  • U should do a movie review on Hop i thought it was pretty good

  • I don't get what everyone's problem with the ending of this is. I loved it. I don't care if it is a bit happy, and I do understand that if it had gone differently following the kiss (or ended right at it) it would have had a great bittersweet sense to it, but I felt that what we got was a pretty great resolution.

  • you must realize that movie night is not a good idea when you have over 500,000 subscribers and the video only gets 30,000 views

  • @Steven23490 - No, I don't realize that. Your logic is pretty flawed dude. Troll elsewhere.

  • @JPizzle1122 How is his logic flawed? Personally, I like Movie Night more, in fact I don't even watch the microwave show. But, he's right. Once you cancel the MWS, unless you bring out another show about destroying things, you are going to lose many subscribers. People came to this channel to see cheap entertainment, unfortunately not this professionally produced content, which is much better. Jon, he has a point you must look at the difference between view on the MWS show, and this. Sorry :(.

  • @marioman3424 - That wasn't his argument though. He said Movie Night was a bad idea because it wasn't reaching my subscribers levels. No one's videos do anymore. That doesn't make this show a bad idea.

And yes, I'm aware of the fragmentation of my audience - you don't need to speak to me like it's my first day on the internet... it's just insulting.

  • @JPizzle1122 I didn't mean to patronize you, in fact I meant the opposite. I know you're very experienced in this whole Internet Entertainment Business, so I was confused what your strategy would be for keep your vies and subscribers.

  • i watched Super Mario Bros. and thought it was really good ,the beginning was boring but the rest was more exiting I like that it has small amount of the game in it

    i'll give it a 8/10

  • you should totally review paul, i just saw it and enjoyed it a lot, and hardly ever a dull moment throughout the entire movie

  • i enjoyed source code i thought it was weird that he kinda stayed in some dudes body but hey it was all in all a good movie

  • i admit it was a good movie, holding some relation to the game and the characters yet showing a completely different view of what i had originally expected from the movie. SUPER MARIO BROS: 7/10

  • Mario Bros: The film was rediculous in every aspect, the plot and the visuals were terrible. But somehow the movie kept me entertained and interested 7/10

  • Cool :-)

  • I thought the ending was great! I was glad he didnt die. because i saw buried and it was horrible that he died. But i liked this ending and i saw it the day it came out. I give this movie an 10/10 Jake gyllenhaal is an amazing actor and veryfcute.

  • it scored an 8 and an 8

    not 8 and a great

  • @kammy262626

    8/8 ;D

  • it scored an 8 and an 8

  • I don't get why the ending would be considered disappointing. You can have different views about the ending. It leaves open to let the viewer think for itself. I didn't think it was all that happy.

  • super mario bros: almost as bad as the streetfighter movie. 1/10.

  • Super Mario Bros. Considering the time and technology of the time, actually a visually interesting movie. Its slapstick with relatable characters has always kept me rooting for the heroes all the way through the movie. As a movie based on a video game, its frankly difficult to base a movie on such a simplistic game, so kudos for that. It loses points for me because of the name daisy character, both in name and her love interest. That said, Id still watch it again. 9/10

  • Jon, even though i agree the ending is sort of disappointing its also because it has elements of Groundhog's Day its because it is due to main character's realization that he wasn't living life fully, and that he only lived for his country, it is mentioned that he served his 2 terms in Iraq and the ending once again borrows from Groundhogs Day when he helped the people on the train feel happy and corrected everything wrong on the train using what he already knows.

  • you forgot Deja Vu D:

  • Please wear a green tie for the next movie night... please =P

  • you should review musicals

  • WOOHOO, MOVIE NIGHT!

  • Super Mario Bros. - I've only really seen the movie once but it was a good once. People give this movie a hard time when it's actually not too bad. Although some parts were a little strange or felt out of place, 8/10

  • Hey John, I am starting a movie review web series with a group of college friends. We are looking for a camera to replace our webcam that we use. Got any suggestions on good cameras for cheap?

  • @2Guys1Film - Yes. Watch my camera buying review video on "Jon", thanks.

  • Super Mario Bros is a classic old skool film an 7 out of 10 and Tomb Raider gets a 6.

  • Tumrader sucks 0 Mario awesome 11

  • Super Mario Bros. a movie with cool environments and effects and an okay story line, but a little too much over acting. However, it had hardly anything to do with the games. 3/10

  • wait u ruined the ending saying it was a happy ending. You don't give away the ending like that without a warning. I just wanted a review on how the story was not how the movie ends. sigh

  • Super Mario bros..... 2/10. You saw it, you know why. Awful movie.

  • Super Mario Brothers movie review - While by no means a great movie, I heavily enjoyed it as a FUN movie. The action kept the movie flowing, I loved many of the jokes, and was genuinely disappointed that it never got the sequel that the ending was directly leading towards.

    7/10

  • Could you review Battle LA?

  • I felt the movie was somewhat unoriginal, gripping, but somewhat unoriginal. The plot was truly original, yet I thought it was influenced by Inception, Unstopable and Déjà vu (apparently the like Denzel Washington). Nonetheless the movie made a unique impression with its romantic story.

    I give it a 7.5/10

and I give you a 9/10 for the review

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Jon, now that you've been producing this show for a while, do you ever get any invites to premiers or prescreenings? I feel you deserve a lot of recognition for making a movie review show engaging and entertaining, which leads me to my next question. If you were ever offered something like a TV spot for this (or one of your other shows) would you consider the deal or is Youtube your thing? Love what ya do and I don't even get out to the theaters often lol

  • @toph4er - While I quite enjoy the flexibility YouTube affords me, I am not particularly attached to this medium over TV - which is where I used to work before being a YouTuber... so I'd have no problems moving back to TV if the option presented itself. It's doubtful I'd up-and-quit YouTube though.

  • Great job, Jon. And get well

  • Super Mario Bros. A cheesy steam-punk movie, but what else would you expect from a Mario movie made in the early '90s 7/10

  • zmovie.tv

  • You are one of the only reasons i still go to youtube! keep it up!

  • Are you paid for this? Or is this something you do for your own interests?

  • @Fangs231 - A little of both...

  • I actually loved both Tomb Raider (and its sequel) and Mario Bros.

The koopas in M.B. are adorable! They sway with the music! ...and the bo-bomb is awesome! Just a great movie that takes place between our world and the 'dinosaur' world. I really like the take on it. Instead of evolving from monkeys, they evolved from dinosaurs!

Laura Croft, Tomb Raider is a lot of fun and had an awesome sound-track. Jolie plays a sexy, smart, and strong character that fits the role perfectly!

  • The Mario Movie was one of the absolute worst films I have ever had the displeasure to watch. The only thing it had to do with the Mario games was the names of characters. 1/10

  • I personally loved this movie. 8/10 or 9/10. I don't see how they could have had any different ending. Reminiscent of Groundhog Day. Definitely go see.

  • Super Mario Bros: When I was little I thought it was cool, but i saw it when i was older then meh. This movie is a kids movie, and kids should watch it 4/10.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Its a T&A movie made for boys who play the video games, but still it was an alright movie for an afternoon you don't have anything to do that day. 5/10

  • Dude, the ending was fine.

  • Super Mario Bros: Awful film that shows little relevance to the classic video games. They butchered the opportunity to have a movie license. 2/10

  • Looking forward to the Mario Bros. Movie Review. I love that movie.

  • Jon is the music for movie night original? Did you make it?

  • psh, more like boob raider

  • Mario bros was god awful..... It robbed me 2 hours of my life. 2/10

  • hey jon you should start planning a 100 million uploads video i think :) only about 1.5 million away now, could be a fun lil project, this movie sounds alot like due date only this has time travel

  • jon, your a really cool person. i like the way you still make videos for us ever inbetween seasons. your a talented and intelgent man and your one of my roll models. keep it up man. cant wait to see the episode tonight!:!! :D

  • I remember the Super Mario Bros movie. Me and my brother watched it all the time. Though it was enjoyable in some ways, it really just gave it one of those dark spin offs. Though it was good for its time. If I had to rate it I think it would be a 7/10.

  • If those ugly ass dinosaurs are goombas, than I'm Justin Bieber. o__e

  • Super Mario Bros.: Perfect for gamers looking for nostalgia, but not many others 6/10

  • You know you guys do a great job with this show, and it is extremely helpful. Great job :D

  • @IrishRocker7710 - Thank you very much.

  • Super Mario Bros.: absolutely terrible.... if your a die hard mario fan... however I laughed all the way through. plus it has Dennis Hopper!, 6/10

  • it sort of looks like paycheck

  • @JPizzle1122 can you do Four Lions. Its a funny film and i'd like to see you review it

  • @JPizzle1122 great review :-)

  • Tomb Raider: As a kid i loved this movie to death, watching it over and over and re-enacting scenes. Looking back at it now though the plot is a little shaky with a sequel that is downright unbelievable, for the nostalgia factor i give it a 8/10

  • 4:08 - 4:11 what about doing hitman?

  • supermario awesome funny and so on 10/10

  • can you please review the 1994 Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration Ed Wood(not to be confused with another Burton/Depp collab Edward Scissorhands). It's one of my favorite movies and I believe every single person who wants to get involved in film making should see it.

  • Hop: it was well written but its more of a children movie. They did throw in a couple adult jokes. All in all it was a strong 6/10

  • Whoever said that Sucker Punch was a good movie needs to get sucker punched in the nuts, or face.... Repeatedly

  • the basic premise of this film shit.

And Jake gyllenhall is now a dick,

He was good back in the donnie darko days

  • Source Code is entertaining and well-acted but it's full of logic holes. Also I didn't really care about if the ending was happy or sad, it's just I wanted an ending that made sense. I would give it an 8 like you did though.

  • even so i didnt saw the movie yet, i fell this review is a bit of a spoil, i hope not

  • i know it's far from now,but i just watched John Q and thought it would be a good idea for Father's Day to make a Movie Night about the "do everything and anything for their child/family" type movies. like John Q,Death Sentence, etc. hope you read this, and consider it.

  • would like to see a review on "Limitless"

  • this year seems much nicer for film than last year thus far. keep it up, 2011!

  • you caught the playlist bug. hey. theres a new tshirt design! "I caught the Playlist Bug"

  • I saw limitless this weekend and although it was entertaining and kept me thinking it is not a movie I would have to watch again. Besides I think I ready think like the pills make you without them. It was basically about making stupid people function as normal people in society.

  • This director is also David Bowie's son

  • I'm deeply honored to be part of the top rated comments

  • Mario was one of if not the worst movie i have ever seen this movie takes the plot of the game series and completely trough’s it out the window most of the characters are replaced there are so many made up references that are completely made up half of the time the story doesn’t even make sense and the graphics... well they are okay and even thought the plot is slightly entertaining it deviates form the game series too much 3/10

  • this is kinda like ghost trick for the ds.......

  • dude... spoiler alert next time

  • great job! xD

  • "Monkey!" :D

from Super Mairo Bros: The Movie

  • Hey, who's that RyuuneSeichi guy who saw Sucker Punch? Heheh.

Spoilers: It's me, seriously, I've seen it twice now.

  • Can you do insidious please.

  • wtf he ruined the end

  • DONT WATCH MARIO BROS!!! you will regret it!!

  • Super Mario Bros.- I feel like it was victim of its hype. People expected it to be exactly like the game and since they went with a different direction, it let them down. While the jokes and acting can be pretty cheesy, it was an interesting spin on the original story.

    5/10

  • Super Mario Bros.- I actually didn't think it was a bad movie, if you past the fact that it's based on our favorite plumber. If you look at from another aspect, it's actually pretty good. 7/10

  • Limitless: Very good movie overall, some parts were a little boring but i think for most of it you were really entertained. I give it a 8/10

  • lol people trying to make the Mario bros movie look like it was meant to win an Oscar... on a side note review halo legends!!

  • Mario Bros: So terrible and unfunny that it doesn't even deserve a proper review 1/10

  • Mario bros: one of the worst renditions of a video game ever and for many reasons overall poor script and not enough source material. 1/10

  • Damn Jon you should be on cable with reviews. You are awesome at it.

  • lol mario bros if halo was a movie it would fucking sell trills.

  • I dont get everyone's deal with the ending, I thought it was an awesome moment for everyone who went along with corporal stevens' ride the whole time

  • you should do yu-gi-oh 3d: bonds beyond time

  • I'd just like to say, Jonathan i appreciate how much time you put into these! They look great! :)

  • As a kid, I loved the Mario Bros movie. Mario on screen was enough to keep me interested. Now, however, I see the movie as it is: A poor attempt to get a few bucks from kids by having a well known video game adapted to film. Poor story, mediocre acting, and finally, Hardly anything to do with the story. This movie's too easy to hate. 3/10

  • Mario Bros: I would have liked to see more actual game references in the film but I don't have to many complaints besides that. 8/10

  • Mario Bros: Dumb ideas, it looked like Bowser took the sports almanac and messed up the Mushroom Kingdom, turning it into hell. The jokes were dumb, but the film is somewhat interesting to watch. 4/10

  • do Prom the new disney movie

  • don't reviewers get to see the movie before it is already out?

  • you should do an episode about "the kids are all right"

  • @90antiemos90 - I did.

  • @JPizzle1122 you should do 1 on studio ghibli movies

  • @JPizzle1122 Love your reviews :) But do you think you could talk a little less, and a little slower when you're playing clips from the movie?

I find myself barely paying attention to what you're saying because the clips are so distracting, and then later on I realize this and have to rewind the video, keep up the good reviews!

  • Mario Bros,: SHity cast filled with only two people i have ever heard of, bad plot and bashes the drug related video game 1/10

  • Mario bros: Great movie, just not a great mario movie. Acting was good, but it did not hold true to classic mario.

  • Is there any way to get a download for the background music?

  • at 4:20 is it just me or does it look like he has something in his eye?

  • Super Mario Bros: Excellent movie based of a video game. And who cares if they put the English flag on the bottom of that Bob-omb? It's a movie worth watching. 9/10

  • mario bros: Overall I enjoyed even through it wasn't the best movie I've seen. It had its laugh, its good parts and then its bad parts. 5/10

  • ARE we figure Deja vu???!!!! I mean come on!!!!! Deva vu is almost the same movie.

  • Do Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Date Night!

  • Where's the music from?

  • haha i still love the subtitels :D great job on making them ( not personally xd )

  • Oh god why the Mario Bros movie? The movie was horrible in nearly every aspect. It had good editing but other than that it was shit layered on top of more shit. Everyone was freaking out over the Bob-omb, and yet when it's 5 minute fuse finally ran out the little explosion didn't even do damage. The most enjoyable part of the movie was me and my friends making racist Italian jokes throughout the whole movie. 2/10, and it gets the 2 because of the Bowser death scene.

  • The Mario Bros movie was okay at what it tried to acomplish, but a few plot points made it falter. I give it a 7/10

  • I just want to say I love you, thanks to you I know exactly what films to watch. =D

  • i really liked it made me think twice of how we take life for granted

  • Do a review of limitless!

  • Mario bros: great game, truely awful movie!

  • How do you make a movie like the pre-1993 Mario games? you would have a guy running around and punching bricks. God, people, that movie would be horribly boring.
