I know how you feel. I used to have seizures in my sleep, sleep walk and crazy ass nightmares till I grew out of it at age 16. Still, 10 years of horrible and vivid nightmares...they still haunt me today. I'm glad I learned to lucid dream.

Something similar often happened to me and my sister we'd wake up and it'd be dark but wed see the outline of a shadowy figure it would call out to us to come with it but I'd turn the light on and it'd be gone I didn't understand my nightmares would seem extremely realistic and sinister and now I don't dream. Or at-least i don't remember my dreams

night terrors are actually your still early developing body experiencing your soul. the part of your brain that would usually block this out is still young(hence why kids see ghosts more than adults)and more likely to come across the unexplained, and because your mind isn't built to understand what it is, it translates it in other ways, and sometimes it's a nightmare. for me it wasn't the dream, it was my mind suddenly not able to feel or know the idea of "soft" for a bit, that got to me.

Wow, surprisingly similar to my childhood mental affliction, well, sorta, the reprocussions were similar, I suffered from this weird thing where I would wake up, and still dream, but since I was basically conscious, me imagination ran wild, and to me, it was real, I mean, think about inception(bad movie refference) only when you're awake, so there was no waking up for me, usually, after I analysed it, it took a shock to snap me out, like the lights turning on or something, one day though itstopt
