That's an inaccurate comparison. This earthquake was a worse natural disaster than hurricane katrina which was worse than the floods which were worse than the recent blizzards. The disasters are on completely different levels, not to mention the differences in wealth of the areas affected. Haiti is even poorer than the worst parts of new orleans, and their capital city was just practically obliterated.
