I have to say that SU karate club is worth joining if you want to gain a different view on karate. I was a member during my second year and may continue throughout third year.
Being a Shito-Ryu student/instructor I find the mix in styles (shotokan and gojuryu) quite unusual and in spite of the fact I don't think shotokan is as effective as the other styles nor as flexible, the training is still a great way to gain confidence and create new friendships with other students.
