The War on Drugs is a pretty well run capitalist enterprise. Consider all of those for profit prisons, all of the funding for the CIA's mercenary business, helping the corporate oligarchy weed out "troublesome workers". As long as we have capitalism, we will have the War on Drugs. Corporatism is capitalism.
drugs should never be prohibited, as bad as they can be it doesn't matter because the laws promote crime and damage peoples lives. Also it's not the government's business what you put in your body. Marijauna is actually a great pain releiver and it's illegal so that prescription drug companies can sell thier very damaging pian killers derived from Opiates...wtf?
Capitalism has nothing to do with the War on Drugs? Don't make me laugh. Have you ever applied for a job? Do you ever notice the section where they ask you if you have ever used drugs? Are you aware that capitalist enterprises test their employees for drug use? This libertarian garbage about socialism being "fascism" is farcical especially when private enterprises spy on their employees in ways Orwell couldn't imagine. If you run the government like a private enterprise you will have fascism.
@perdondarisn Government should never be involved with what people put in thier bodies ever, example is Cannibis, it's a really effective pain killer and has very little damaging effect on the body unlike prescription drugs that destroy your liver because they are made from Opiates. What happened was the drug companies lobbied to have cannibis made illegal. Cannibis was used for centuries as an effective remedy for all kinds of conditions for years before that.
No this is ignorance. Alcohol and Cigarettes are legal now and they are the most WIDELY used substances. If you legalize weed and hard drrugs etc you will have more intoxicated and addicted people and more of all of the problems that come with them, such as mental/emotional problems, family problems, work problems, health problems etc will ALL increase. We dont need more people on drugs and this is NOT negatively effecting a person's persuit of happiness. Drugs are NOT good for you!
@frost122585 you're missing the point. most drugs are not as bad as the government propaganda makes them seem and so what if the are bad for you? people do things everyday that isnt good for you but the do that for the pursuit of their own happiness.. if the government is their to keep us from doing things that are bad for us then let me give you a list of the things that will have to be banned with drugs..
@frost122585 eating contest, fast food, sky diving, base jumping, traveling to any 'dangerous' countries, boxing, football, swimming with sharks, alcohol&cigs(which if those were made illegal just as many people would use them and because drug cartels/gangs rather than businesses would sell them illegally and that would only fund the guns and violence and their influence in our congress.. the drug cartels lobby to keep drugs illegal.. becuse they dont have a buisness if they arent.)..
im 16 and i can get weed 10times easier than alcohol. weed is a phone call away and it will be at my door in 10mins. with alcohol i need to bug my friends until they buy it for me which they rarely do.
@mynamemattskull and if weed were legal it wouldnt be as easy to get. u would prbably have to be 18 and have a state i.d just like booze but not 21. hell even i,with a fuzzy ass beard , have to show the clerk my i.d for alcohol.but if all rugs were legal there would be more addicts so how do u deal with that?
@thunderheart226 I don't think all drugs should be legal just pot because its not dangerous. What is dangerous are the drug dealers that sell or grow and there the only people who benefit from pot being illegal. If it was legal it would be harder for teenagers to get.
@mynamemattskull yea even if its not harmless they still have to figure out something like the blood alcohol level test.on the spot and figure out how to go to jail like selling alcohol before noon here in nyc or having a open container in nyc will the same rules apply to weed?but if dealers lost that they would still do something else illegal i doubt the dealers of ms13 are gonna get a day job
@thunderheart226 those are all good points i just think if they spent more time and effort making it legal instead of this "war on drugs" it would go from spending alot of money getting small time dealers off the streets the would be making money of the taxes and if your from NY you probably know a thing or 2 about taxes i heard cigarettes are like 10$ a pack up there.
@mynamemattskull yea small time dealers will go do something else maybey but dont think gangs will.i thought cigs were 12$ everywhere =[ but alot of ppl who get busted really are gang memebrs or sell other drugs not some high school kid. gangs members are more likely to have possession of weed.i remember a show called DEA where they raided dealers houses they had weed AK-47(illegal) cocaine bunch of stuff.so if u make it legal ur gonna spend money to catch many of the same criminals/dealers
@thunderheart226 lol i live in Florida where everyone is soft well except Miami and cigs are 6$ here lol and that's for ports or reds and sure gangs will do something els but weed will be legal so its ok :]
RON PAUL, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR AN ANSWER! TELL AMERICAN PEOPLE HOW EXACTLY RU GOING TO CREATE JOBS? OK LETS SAY ALL TROOPS CAME BACK AND THEN WHAT? Holy fucking shit, I have been making the same argument about the drug trade economy for years. Ron Paul seems to amaze me everyday. Please download and send to everyone. We must educate america, and elect Ron Paul{ OUR TRUE COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!!)
There is an irony to the fact that I find the most intelligent, valid and sound arguments on a youtube page discussing the legalization of drugs. Pretty much every time I dare scroll down and view comments on youtube videos, news articles, or blogs, I am saddened by the level of ignorance, lack of literacy, polarized views, and centric bias of the rhetoric.
@kaleidoscopious and I am not exactly a Ron Paul supporter, either. I don't believe the markets can self-regulate. I also understand his son doesn't agree with both the passage of the Civil Liberties Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act. I am not sure of RP's stance on that issue, but I am curious and skeptical. As a person who is wheelchair bound, I see a world where without the ADA, my own independence would be greatly compromised.
RP hit the nail on the head. The U.S. laws on drugs, the economy mess, the mid-east "invasions" , erosion of civil liberties and police state, and ect. will continue to get worse. There are too many big corporation lobbyists and corruption within govt.It is far too late for any one man or even the people to change the Federal govt. One certain way to bring back liberty as the Founders intended= Secession. It would make the Feds ask the UN for military troops to stop it but we would win in the end
It's amazing to see someone so consistent over the years. Ron Paul has worked very hard for one simple idea, that you get to control your life. It scares people, but it's beautiful.
people should stay away from drugs but ron paul is right. if addicts could go to their local pharmacy , present a few forms of identification they could purchase the drugs for a reasonable price by people who know how to manufacture them instead of committing crimes right and left against innocent people to support their drug habit. the answer is through education.
Ron Paul is awesome on all domestic policies except drugs. With a growing hispanic population we can't ignore the failed decriminalized the possession of illegal drugs in Mexico - allowing a person to possess up to 5g of marijuana or 500 mg of cocaine. Murder is up, economy is down. Here, only lawyers will get rich decades later and we will pay more in medicaid. Paul's plan won't work in a 40% pro democrat/socialist country. No Paulbot will dispute this.
@MoBushin04 I think it's up to each individual if they want to take drugs or not. I've smoked pot from time to time. I have never hurt anyone. Should I go to jail for it? It's a victimless crime. The reason mexicos murder rate has gone up is because selling drugs is still illegal, but the legalization of small amounts slightly increased demands, which just makes the black market bigger. What they should have done is make all drugs, and any amount of it, 100% legal to buy, sell and use.
@MoBushin04 Decriminalization of the possession of drugs doesn't address the problem of the drug dealers and cartels. If we had decriminalized the use of alcohol but had continued to prohibit the sale it would only help capone by making his customers feel more comfortable with buying from him. The fact that decriminalization doesn't work is not an argument against legalization.
I am in debt thousands of dollars because I needed penicillin which they require a prescription for, which require a doctor, which require insurance, which require an employer who offers it....I work. I pay taxes for what amounts to stricter enforcement of the Drug laws. Anybody can tell you a tooth is infected but only doctors can decide if you should live or die because of it.
I really hope if he does end up president that he holds true to this,,,cause I am fucking sick of being made to feel like a criminal because I smoke a little weed,,,and I am sick of failed campaign promises, Obama just blows it off, even when it is the number 1 question, I AM SICK OF PUSSIES backing down...
@jenn1ifer It's not about drugs, its about personal freedom. It's not the Federal governments job to tell me what i can or can't do in my own house. If there were no drug laws the Drug dealers and cartels would go out of business.
