Mr. Lindsey is the absolute best collegiate arranger. To me, this one of his historic arrangements along with Four Seasons of Loneliness. That joint at Florida Classic 1997 was simply amazing. Famu definitely has a diamond with him and a musical angel above a.k.a The Maestro in Dr. Foster.
This song really embodies the POWER of music. Its a beautiful melody with a catchy hook. However, the lyrics are Muck'd up.(for a strong sista) Like Chris Rock said,... sometime the lyrics don't mean sh*t as long as the music is banging!! Skeet..Skeet..XO
This has to be the most beautiful rendition of "It kills me"..Speaking abt the BRASS thing..comin from a fellow brass player i thing everything fits together perfectly..At my skool the brasses are a problem because they outnumber the wood winds and the low brass out number the high and middle brass...but everything works off in the end...we ended up going to state this year and receiving 5th for marching in the state of texas..And we are 2nd in the state for concert...THanx to our band directior
It's a beautiful thing when woodwinds and brass are properly balanced and blended together like this. Woodwinds won't give you power, but they add that warm, finishing touch that brass just can't give you. It's a shame that 90% of our HBCU bands are so overloaded on brass simply because power is the #1 priority. And this admittedly is coming from a former brass player.
Ok so being that I attend another HBCU I'm probably supposed to hate, but as a former band member I have to give FAM all respect because you hear the entire band they are not just resting on their brass! Excellent job!
