  • This also aired in Johnstown, PA. Every generation since the Baby Boomers has a fond memory of this and other old time Christmas specials.

  • I LOVED all three of those old Christmas cartoons on Bozo! Thanks to whoever put this on!

  • At first, I had never heard of this, but then I watched it, and I instantly loved it. Thumbs up if it's the same for you.

  • Rest in Peace Norma Zimmer, and you really were Suzy Snowflake to me !!!

We'll all miss you, and say hello to my family !!!! (Chicago loves you )

  • CLASSIC

  • Does anyone remember the one with Jack Frost painting the window panes. I cant find it anywhere?

  • @i2aminsane Search Jack Frost Cartoon [1934] on youtube-this might be it!

  • Wow! I grew up in Addison. Christmas was not Christmas until this program came on. Usually about a week before Winter break. You would have your Christmas concert at school. Christmas class party (Wesley) where you had $1grab bag gift exchange and these programs to seal the deal.....yep Christmas, wonderful glorious Christmas had finally arrived! Kevin Cady

  • Auh when things where not so corrupt and we where not invaded by a bunch of illegals I miss them days.

  • The wonderful memories this early video brings to mind are too numerous to name. How sad that the joy of Christmas has been replaced by the viciousness and greed of Black Friday sales...I long for the days when I sang this song and the good cheer it brought to me! Thank you Susie Snowflake.

  • i thought this would have been kenny and corky because they did this song and nothin for christmas and i have the music video for nuthin for christmas. anybody ever heard of twinkle the christmas angel?

  • I love christmas and suzy snowflake is Christmas!!!!!

  • Ahh innocence! Nice touch where Suzy makes a snowman by knocking the snow loose so it falls on a man. Someone refers to the 'creepy old holiday' shorts. 'Creepy' is an interesting choice of words. I can almost see them as creepy but they seem more innocent and sentimental than creepy to me.

  • thats frostys bitch

  • In the early seventies, it didn't snow in Chicago until Suzy said so. Merry Christmas. Take it easy.

  • On December 28, 1953, Chicago area kids were introduced to the whimsical story of Suzy Snowflake "tap, tap, tappin'" on every windowpane, seen on "Garfield Goose and Friends" then on WBBM-TV. Like "Hardrock, Coco and Joe", Suzy too was brought to life by the stop-motion animators of Centaur Productions. Norma Zimmer was Suzy's voice and the song was sung by The Norman Luboff Choir, a premier studio group who recorded with well-known artists, such as Frank Sinatra and Harry Belafonte.

  • It's officially christmas when the news channels start playing these!

  • Love it when she covers the guy on the street, SPLAT! hahaha very cute vid... I've always loved this song and have it by Dale Evans.

  • I grew up in the Chicago area and watched this and Hardrock Coco and Joe every Christmas! I LOVE it! Brings back such happy times. So innocent. I'm afraid those days are gone forever...

  • @theworshipsinger I live in Johnstown, PA and they play all of those on our local news stations too :3 I love them!

  • amazing

  • I think Suzy snowflake is a creeper O__o

  • I used to watch this every year on the Bozo show as a kid. This and Hardrock, Coco and Joe were two of my favorite holiday tunes that I still remember to this day.

  • @bosco6159 You mean Hardrock, Coco and Jooooeeeeee! (-:

  • @bosco6159 Same here, but I saw it the most during Ray Rayner.

  • super vintage-y! i like it!

  • Usher , monkey , what's the difference ?

  • I have a feeling hell is something like this. The song has just a touch of Satan to it.

  • Suzy -- she's a flake.

  • Suzy brings joy to Children of the reprobate. The COTR need joy to transition them from the freezing and deadening of life into reawakening a joy of spring in life. Suzy is used as a symbol of life in the dead stillness of what feels like nothingness. This video shits on Jesus and was designed to do that. The audience? Yep: Christian H8R's. Great vid. Bad motive. Slutty Suzy needs to wear a petticoat!

  • I don't know why,But I found this video funny..lol

  • Adorable Puppies!

    Singing Christmas Carols!

    -DeckTheBowls

  • Do you think Billy Corgan got the idea for the Disarm video from this?

  • hahahah! :p

  • Ohh, I choked up remembering this one.....I used to LOOOVE Suzy Snowflake on WGN TV; that's when I knew Christmas was coming!!

  • lol, i was mesing with my gf and was chanign the lyrics to edward cullen and making it seem like he is a child molester,...shes a twilight fan "team edward, but team laugnter" lol

  • Stop Tapping On mY Window SUZY! lol

  • lil scarey lol but cute

  • This is what Christmas memories in Chicago are really made of.

  • The sister of Suzy Creamcheese.

  • ROFLMAO!

  • I love this sort of retro stuff!

  • Wow. I had thought that Soul Coughing had written this song.

  • Jack Frost nipping at my nose..

    Santa coming down my chimney.

Suzie the Snowflake Tapping on my window..

    Flying deers on my roof..

A talking snowman on my front lawn..with 2 eyes made out of coal..

and A tree in my living room...

Who the fok invented this holiday...Its like an acid trip.

  • ROFL!!! ( with tears in my eyes)

  • Checkered, when Suzy Snowflake first came out, it was quite striking in black and white. The splotches you see were from celluloid film degeneration. In fact, I'm shocked that it held up this well. The Wizard of Oz was completely remastered on digital video, painstakingly, frame by frame.

  • wow suzie snowflake is heckas creepy....

  • HEY! This is a real song! my school sang this song for our 4th grade Cool Yule! COOL!

  • After u hear this song more then a few times u will wanna kill anyone named susie....!

  • @410Alfa it's a classic. they play it at the music box in chicago!

  • @techreviewz4u oh. i came to US 3 years ago so ive never heard of it

  • @410Alfa gotchya!

  • "If you want to take a sleigh ride, come ride on me"- she is a whore.

Just keep her away from Hardrock, Coco and Joe, please

  • If you look real closely this is playing on the tv in the background of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  • Suzy Snowflake was a big Christmas icon before Frosty was. o-o;;

The singer of the actual song is Gearge Clooneys aunt.

Or some one back in his family.

  • That was a dancing snow flake for 2:49.

Click on my user name and watch a real dancing flake for 2:49 -- funny funny ending.

  • this is suzy snowflake's finest moment, before she took that unfortunate career turn into soft-core

  • suzy snowflake cheated on me last night with randy the raindrop. shes a whore everybody.

  • o.o I'm scared I have to sleep with one eye open now o .- my teacher all ways sang that song she said it would snow but everyone thought he was weird

  • O.O damn right its historic

  • I remember seeing this on Chicago's WGN..wayyy back when...it's almost laughable what passed for CGI back then...LOLLLL

  • @trunk516 "Garfield Goose" with Frazer Thomas and Ray Rayner, used play this, around X-mas...

The only one left is Marshall Bodien...

  • This is scary

  • My freshman science teacher sang this song everyday that is was suppose to snow. lol

  • Castle Films? Any relation to William Castle who was making all the low budget 50s horror movies like "House on Haunted Hill"?

The reason I ask is because I thought that's what his company was called... But I can't imagine that is was him making these Christams shorts.

  • No that was William Castle Productions. Castle Films is Eugene Castle and was a distributor of 8mm and 16mm home movies which is what they used before VHS and DVD. That could be why the quality was so low. The original was made by Centaur Productions but this title card has been replaced by one with Castle films. The Rosemary Clooney song was in 1951 and the animation was made by Wah Ming Chang in the same year. He is famous for Star Trek, The Outer Limits, The Time Machine props and costumes.

  • MAN!! Robot Chicken Sucked back than!! LOL ;)

  • "Who dares question My daring of his dare.....jerk?"

I love Robot Chicken. That was a quote from when Jedi George Bush met Abe Lincoln....

  • I LOVE the creepy old holiday shorts. Nothing like them!! This one is exceptionally fabulous! THANK YOU!

  • For some maybe this brings warm thoughts of Christmas past. I just find it disturbing. I first saw this on WGN several years when they ran out of better stuff to show.

  • lets keep this in the proper perspective.

    1. suzy snowflake

    2.hardrock coco & joe

    3. new world order

    4.illuminati

  • Talk about pulling something out of the deep recesses of the past.

Recall seeing this every year as a kid until I was 10, when my family moved out of state.

I remember it was slightly disturbing instead of actually being joyful.

  • Yes. Very disturbing. Thanks for mentioning it.

  • so vintage!!! <3

  • Thanks for the earworm from 50+ years ago!! This was the Castle Films headline edition. Does a full version exist?

  • Oh my goodness... Do you think that Suzy has friends? Like Henry Hailstorn, or Rebecca Raindrop? Lewis Lightning bolt? Lmao.

  • OMG I never knew Suzy Snowflake came from a place and time. My parents used to talk about it. They are both from Chicago! It all makes sense!

  • omg!!! my teacher dressed up as this for school for our hoiday party!!!

  • Wow, an early Music Video. I saw this in the Louisville, Kentucky market in about 1953. I don't know what station.

All these years and I've been remembering "Suzy Snowflake". I didn't realize it was just one song,

I've been thinking of it a lot the last few Christmases. It was just today that I thought to look it up on YouTube.

    So happy to find it.

  • Frazier Thomas, Bozo, Suzy Snowflake. Great memories from my Chicago childhood. Wonderful that this is available on YouTube.

  • At 1:51 Suzy's huge!

  • if she that big imagine the snowflakes!

  • I grew up in Boston and remember this playing on TV in winter, only when I tried singing it or asking grown ups about it they never seemed to know what I was talking about. Finally I have proof I wasn't delusional even if it is just to myself

  • I remember this being part of an animated show played on Christmas of 1952. I hadn't had a television up till then and watched it on my cousin's tv in NJ. I later asked my mother about it and she couldn't remember it at all. I guess it wasn't that memorable to grownups. :)

  • I'm from the southside of Chicago, born in 1961 and I loved watching Garfield Goose and Frazier Thomas, the Ray Rayner show and Bozo's circus. They played this, hardrock, coco and joe,and frosty the snowman,my favorite 3 christmas cartoons!!! The old days are gone forever but the beautiful memories remain!! I miss you grandma and michael!!!!!

  • Wow that is great. I wonder who did the animation? George Pal?

  • You're close, it was Wah Ming Chang, who I have just found out used to work with George Pal. He also worked with Disney and later invented a lot of the props for the original Star Trek including the tribbles.

  • Wow. thanks. Just fascinating this early animation. Just love it.

  • I had forgotten all about this, I really loved watching. thanks for the posting!!!!!!

  • Wow, takes me back. Way back! When Frazier Thomas started playing this on Garfield Goose and Bozo had it on his show, you knew that Christmas was coming!

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful Christmas favorites from the Bozo show. This brings back wonderful memories of my childhood.
