  • Me too!!However,I watched Casper as a kid.

Looking back,I beleive that Casper was the Ungodly Love Child of Rodney Dangerfield

    and Michael Jackson!!

  • I'm not here because of Cracked. I'm here because I saw this cartoon as a kid and wanted to see it again. Thumbs up this comment if....well, if you so choose, of your own volition. :)

  • thank you SO much for adding this! this is the one i watched as a child! :D thank you!

  • The mouse sees a ghost, so he puts himself inside the cat's mouth and thus pretty much just willingly decided to become the cat's meal? Okay...

  • "if you're the don't believe in ghost kind, well, here's a story about one anyways"

  • ...because Casper the clinically depressed ghost didn't have as much of ring to it

  • Mike Mozart sent me

  • Cracked was right! Didn't notice that Casper is a sad sad friendly ghost (with prob unfinished business) who tried to suicide when I was a child. D:

  • 2:00 He sounds like Roberto from Futurama!

  • Are all of his brothers in the KKK?

  • he complains like my little brother

NO PLAYSTATION FOR ME, I NEVER GET TO PLAY WII!

  • I'll never be able to look at Casper the same way. D:

  • D'awwww.....:*} So, you can pick up, carry, and dress up ghosts? Cool! Who knew? :D

  • Casper doesn't fuck around. He'll do it.

  • i love how the kids just walk up and say "hi" to a ghost on a railroad track and aren't shocked at all.

  • Wow... it has been atleast 20 years since the last time i had seen this...

i wish mum never through out my old cartoons... how am i going to track them down?

does anyone ever remember watching a christmas special cartoon with some kid flying in a plane accross the world with santa clause? my memory is abit vague but it looked like it came from the same era or a little bit later

  • How the fuck did he pull the ball back THROUGH THE FUCKING WALL!?

  • Wow this is the only casper film I remember watching as a child..wasn't sure if I was going to find it since had no idea which one it was...wonderful memories!

  • run! the floating napkins with faces are back!!

  • I, too, am here because of Cracked.com.

Maybe I should come up with something that cracked'll link to so I can get my views up as well, haha.

  • he basically tried to commit suicide on the tracks and was disappointed when it didn't work....

  • UM, Okay... ignore my last comment. I thought this was the one where Casper was in the graveyard and tried to be friends with a fox.

  • OH MY GOD I HAD THIS EXACT CASPER FILM ON VHS TAPE WHEN I WAS A LITTLE BOY. O_O

  • @StrawberryBoy100 no way...me too...never realized how depressing this is when i watched it as a kid

  • Life sucks and then you die... AND IT DOESN'T END THERE!!!

  • 1:18 - Casper just gets shit on by everyone.

    (Yeah I know it's eggs)

  • Yay for cracked. showing the kids who grew up on these cartoons the true origins for future generations.

BTW I was surprised the Ninja Turtles had such an horrible rat dad. Go kill Shredder for my own personal gain.

  • Yea, Cracked sent me here. Man, Casper used to be so depressing...

  • Cracked sent me too. I HAD to see that part where he tried to off himself. It's hilarious!

  • Cracked sent me too. I HAD to see that part where he tried to off himself. It's hilarious!

  • Okay who else is here because of cracked?

  • @deqcolin Yo!

  • @deqcolin

    Aye.

  • @deqcolin OH MEMEME!!!

  • @deqcolin haha a year later and here i am!

  • Yaaayy Waffles!

  • that father that looked like Mario didn't care much for his family at 8:30

  • thank you, cracked.com, for showing me the hilariously disturbing origins of one of my childhood cartoons...

  • a ghost... attempting suicide.... That's depressing :(

  • Casper will never grow up, so that mom will be raising him forever. Then again, he probably doesn't need to eat or anything, so at least it won't cost anything.

  • Casper is a metaphor for black people. He represents a black person trying to find acceptance in a white society, but can't because white people fear and hate black people because of the actions of his peers

  • cracked sent me too.

  • Comment removed

  • cracked sent me too

  • I dont get why he looked like a real kid at the very end. Would someone please explain?

  • @jheanellt - The kids' mom disguised him as a real kid so he could go to school and make friends :)

  • WTF? The rooster exploded in half!

  • Seriously!? Did he try to commit suicide on a train tracks!?

  • A depressive suicidal ghost crying during 9 minutes as a children cartoon.

    What a great concept.

  • Casper said Hello to 6 people

  • 6 people are afraid of ghosts

  • Casper the Clinically Depressed Ghost

  • 5:32

  • Wait, at 4:30, the stick and the bag go through the wall along with Casper. Are they dead inanimate objects?

"How many times have I told you not to bring dead children home with you!!?"

  • cracked article, came here just to see him try to commit suicide.

  • Yikes. A children cartoon that has suicide theme.

  • wait... so the message to the kids is "if you don't provoke a life long friendship within first 10 seconds of knowing a person - you should go lie infront of a train... and when THAT GOES WELL you'll be popular with other people"???

  • This show would make a mean creepypasta.

  • Im just cracking

  • cracked sent me

  • You gotta love that cat's face at 4:45.

  • i like it but can some1 plz tell me what year this is from

  • @coffeepoop07 1945

  • isn't there a digital restored version???

  • @XCartoonist

    Unfortunately, no.

This cartoon has fallen into the public domain.

  • Poor Casper!

  • I don't know why so many people hate on casper wtf? but ya'll like scoobie doo? get the fuck outa here! Casper 4 life!!+underdog/rocky bullwinkle, duck tales carman san diego.

  • If I could write a Casper cartoon, he would try to make friends, fail to do it, cry like a little bitch, get depressed, then commit suicide.

  • Casper the Wussy Ghost's whining self pity is pathetic and annoying!!

  • What kind of mother would let her kids hang around a whiny little loser like Casper?!!

  • "I'll never be nothing but a scary old ghost without any friends." Oh, BOO HOO. Shut up you wimpy, candy ass ghost!!

  • does anyone have any clips of Felix the Cat with his Magic bag of Tricks cartoon? Bring em on. Please

    Marseille

  • What i said was confusing, he is named CASPER in this cartoon, its just the title that didnt have the CASPER the friendly ghost in it.

  • This is '' The FRIENDLY GHOST'' not a Casper cartoon yet . He didnt get the name Casper untill the first comic book came out and they named him Casper. Then the cartoons also called him Casper in the later 1950's theater cartoon shorts.

  • When I saw this as a little kid, I thought Casper was being dumb when he lay down to get run over by the train. Then I learned about suicide, and was like "Holy shit..." Pretty depressing for a children's show.

  • this reminds me of the ugly duckling form the 30s only not as cute and sad,

  • I do believe this is the very first Casper Cartoon made.

  • Casper is surprisingly depressing for a children's cartoon

He died from an illness when he was a kid, around 5 or 6, so I'm guessing he didn't have much time to make a real friend while he was alive. Then as a ghost, all he wants is a friend but since he's a ghost, he scares of people and can't make one.

    tragically poetic and sad

  • @GreetingsfromWills Well, that's the film explanation to it. According to Harvey Comics, he was always this way -- ghosts being supernatural beings born by a ghost dad and a ghost mom.

  • @GreetingsfromWills Why is your comment voted highest - are people retarded?

  • Dude, you are an idiot.

  • @Lickr Well none of those who voted thumbs up on his comment didn't even finish the episode? - He ends up having friends and a family, yet his "resume" didn't include that so he ended up interpreting it wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol so whats with casper committing suicide? Guess folks were more lenient with what there kids were watchin back in the day. What happened to those days?

  • When I was younger, I just thought he was sitting there and it didn't matter because he was already dead.

  • i thought he just felt like getting hit by a train

  • @ThatEccentricguy Too bad the train didn't kill him.

  • @plymouthpoker The reason why it didn't kill him was the fact that he was already dead.

  • @RetroVideoFan Is that a fact? He was already dead. Really! Wow! I just thought all people had bodies with ghostly forms. Thanks for that information. No, I know Casper's body's already dead, that's why he's a ghost. It was wishful thinking on my part that the train might somehow kill the ghost/spirit part of Casper to put him out of his pathetic, whining misery.

  • used to have this on at least 2 different cartoon tapes. thanks!

  • childhood favourite, classic

does anyone know if there was a video of episodes relased, i swear there was, years ago (not the 1995 casper movie)

  • This was my favorite cartoon when I was little!! Thank you for posting them.

  • 7:34

    Wait...

If the ball is solid, how did Casper walk through a wall while holding it?

    O_O

  • Well, you know how fictional ghosts are depicted nowadays as being able to temporarily "ghost" solid objects they're holding so that they can phase through walls and stuff with them, right?

I had been wondering the same thing, lol.

  • 8:29 "KEEP THE MORTGAGE!"

  • Bonnie reminds me of Little Audrey. Don't you think she might be a prototype of Audrey?

Such a sweet story this one is.

  • verry nice

  • 1:00

    2:42

    3:45

    7:89 HAHA :]

  • tell your mother i've come for payment of the mortgage!!

  • ROFL

  • pmg it's a ghost:P

  • 7:34 the ball is a ghost too

  • All the old classic cartoons were fun to watch and enjoy some like Casper tought kids a leason. All the old Classic cartoons from Bugs to Daffy to Popeye, Casper, tom and Jerry ect ect went thru different Designs untill they were drawn how we all know and love.

  • This short had the NTA logo at the beginning and end of the cartoon, it shows Famous Studios at the beginning and end. There must be a rare Paramount logo variant somewhere in the can if you've seen the theatrical version.

  • It might have only been a cartoon but it did teach us a story about not judging someone because they are a little bit different than us. Something not taught to kids in this day and age.

  • Speak for where you live. We couldn't get any more non-judgmental where I come from.

  • america non judgmental give me a breack you judge every body and every thing non judgmental hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHhaooooooooo

  • And we find you severely lacking.

  • whot

  • they don't make cartoons like this anymore!!

  • @pglove69 You're right. The cartoons today are much better than this crap. The cartoon characters aren't as lame, pathetic, and needy as Casper. Casper is so annoying!

  • Odd, in the early years Casper was a FAT,WHINY,CRYBABY OF A GHOST, but in later years (thanks to Chuck Jones WB classic "Ghost Wanted" which served as a inspiration) today's Casper became a classic to all to love & cherish for future generations to come.

  • Casper was my cartoon hero growing up as a kid. I never liked the ghostly trio, because they were so mean.

  • @ghostwriterknight How about Spooky? Do you not like him because he's mean too?

  • I haven't seen this cartoon in YEARS! It's such a sweet story, and my thanks for putting this up. :)

  • sorry but mi english,i´m venezuelan, but this is the firts casper? is you firts aparennce in a show? is the firts time that i see is so wondefull thanks for the upload tyhansk so much

  • This story's climax remuinds me of "The VInisble" (Disney's Hollywood Pictures, makers of the M.Night Shymalan classic "The Sixth Sense" which made Haley Joel Osment a star), the secne with star Justin Chatwin (I found out where he had been before--"War of the Worlds") as a ghost shoots himself and well...can't die!

  • Okay, I got the cartoon wrong, it was Kristy75's contribution: "There;s Good Boos Toinight" that I was referencing!

I noticed a NARRATOR credited.(Paramount voicer artist swere usually invisible usually.)

    "You can't stop the beat'-"Hairspray"

  • Hello, I posted for you a video of Casper's Haunted Christmas & Shrek The Halls. Hope you like it...I LOVED IT...Actually I've always loved Casper..

  • Casper is such a cute & sweet cartoon ghost! : ) :)

  • i loev casper

  • I love the casper cartoons

  • When did this cartoon came out?

  • 1945

  • YAY more Casper!!!

  • This was originally released as a Paramount "Noveltoon" in 1945. Bill Turner and Otto Messmer [who originally created and mostly animated "Felix the Cat" for Pat Sullivan] adapted this from an original story by Seymour Reit. It would be another three years before Famous featured Casper in a "Noveltoon" again....

  • "I was disappointed that pictures is not good quality.

I like to see within great quality of these video

    for classic videos."

its not easy to get good quality of such old clips....

  • Oh poo! I still don't believe in ghosts!

  • YAYYY!!!

  • very cute vdo

  • I was disappointed that pictures is not good quality.

I like to see within great quality of these video

    for classic videos.

  • THAT would be GREAT (would that be possible?)

  • (in response to mmsdino)

"its not easy to get good quality of such old clips.... "

  • I think That's because it was made to be shown in a theater as a cartoon short.

  • Maybe.

  • not even punny

  • funny you meant?

  • VERY funy
